NCT ID: NCT00796666 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

Study Looking at Combination Therapy (Sitaxsentan+Sildenafil) Vs. Monotherapy (Sitaxsentan Alone) SR-PAAS -Sitaxsentan Efficacy And Safety Trial With A Randomized Prospective Assessment Of Adding Sildenafil

Start date: May 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

As monotherapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) begins to fail additional therapies are introduced. Although co-administration of sitaxsentan and sildenafil is well tolerated the controlled safety/efficacy database of the combination is limited.

NCT ID: NCT00795639 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pulmonary Hypertension

Sitaxsentan Efficacy And Safety Trial With A Randomized Prospective Assessment Of Adding Sildenafil (SR-PAAS)

Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This protocol is for subjects with pulmonary arterial hypertension and is the first of 3 studies forming the Sitaxsentan efficacy and safety trial with Randomized Prospective Assessment of Adding Sildenafil (SR-PAAS) program.

NCT ID: NCT00768300 Terminated - Clinical trials for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

(ARTEMIS-IPF) Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study to Evaluate Safety and Effectiveness of Ambrisentan in IPF

ARTEMIS-IPF
Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The ARTEMIS-IPF study was conducted to determine if ambrisentan was effective in delaying disease progression and death in participants with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), to evaluate its safety, and to evaluate its effect on development of pulmonary hypertension, quality of life, and dyspnea (shortness of breath) symptoms in this participant population. Participants were randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive ambrisentan or placebo, respectively. Participation in the study was to be up to 4 years, depending on how long it would take to enroll participants and observe study events. After randomization, visits to the clinic took place every 3 months, and laboratory procedures were performed every month.

NCT ID: NCT00727363 Terminated - Death Clinical Trials

Prophylactic Probiotics in Premature Infants

C3P
Start date: August 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study tries to determine whether the oral administration of a specific probiotic (good bacteria) in premature infants hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit may prevent infections and the development of a severe inflammatory disease of the bowel called necrotizing enterocolitis. The investigators propose that premature infants not given probiotics will colonize their gut with bad bacterias and develop infection.

NCT ID: NCT00712322 Terminated - Clinical trials for Neurogenic Detrusor Overactivity

A Two-week Open-label Pharmacodynamic and Pharmacokinetic Study of Multiple Doses of a Darifenacin Liquid Oral Suspension in Children (2 - 15 Years) With Neurogenic Detrusor Overactivity

Start date: October 7, 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of darifenacin liquid oral suspension in children, ages 2-15 years, with neurogenic detrusor overactivity. The results will support a benefit-risk based dosage recommendation for phase IIIa clinical trials.

NCT ID: NCT00707239 Terminated - Clinical trials for Pneumonia, Bacterial

Study Evaluating Safety and Efficacy of Tigecycline Versus Imipenem/Cilastatin Subjects With Hospital-Acquired Pneumonia

Start date: December 2008
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This study will compare the safety and efficacy of a tigecycline regimen versus an imipenem/cilastatin regimen for the treatment of subjects who are hospitalized with hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP). At least 70% of enrolled subjects will have ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP). Two dose levels of tigecycline will be assessed and compared to imipenem/cilastatin in parallel. Subjects will receive intravenous therapy from a minimum of 7 & up to 14 consecutive days, the exact duration will be at the decision of the investigator based on the subject's condition. Additional protocol specified antibiotics may be given to ensure appropriate coverage. A final assessment at test-of-cure (TOC) visit will be done 10 to 21 days after the last day of therapy. The total duration of subject participation will be between 17 and 44 days, including a follow up period of 30 days after the last day of therapy for SAEs. Subjects will be followed for safety and efficacy. The safety assessment will include: physical examinations, vital signs, assessment of the clinical signs and symptoms of pneumonia, collection of adverse events, 12-lead ECG, collection of samples for hematology, serum chemistries, and coagulation parameters, & a serum or urine pregnancy test before study entry for women of childbearing potential. The clinical and microbiological efficacy will both be evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT00680563 Terminated - Anemia Clinical Trials

A Study of Once-Monthly Subcutaneous Mircera for the Treatment of Chronic Renal Anemia in Pre-Dialysis Patients Not Currently Treated With ESA.

Start date: April 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This single arm study will assess the efficacy and safety of subcutaneous Mircera for the correction and maintenance of hemoglobin levels in predialysis patients with renal anemia who are not currently treated with ESA. Eligible patients will receive monthly subcutaneous injections at an initial recommended dose of 1.2 micrograms/kg. The anticipated time on study treatment is 3-12 months, and the target sample size is 100-500 individuals.

NCT ID: NCT00626548 Terminated - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

A Phase III Trial of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) (Endothelin A Antagonist) in Non-metastatic Hormone Resistant Prostate Cancer

ENTHUSE M0
Start date: January 2008
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Enthuse M0 is a large phase III clinical trial studying the efficacy of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) in hormone resistant prostate cancer (HRPC). This clinical trial will test if the Endothelin A Receptor Antagonist ZD4054 (Zibotentan) can improve progression-free survival and overall survival against a background of existing prostate cancer treatments. ZD4054 (Zibotentan) is a new type of agent, which is thought to slow tumour growth and spread by blocking Endothelin receptor activity. This trial will look at the effects of ZD4054 (Zibotentan) in hormone resistant prostate cancer (HRPC) patients who have had rising PSA after surgical or medical castration but have no evidence of metastases. All patients participating in this clinical trial will receive existing prostate cancer treatments in addition to trial therapy. Half the patients will receive ZD4054 (Zibotentan) , and half the patients will receive placebo in addition to standard prostate cancer therapy. By participating in this trial there is a 50% chance that patients will receive an agent that may slow the progression of the tumour. No patients will be deprived of standard prostate cancer therapy.
