There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effort and resources (incl. costs) required to detect 20 clinically relevant prostate cancer (PCA) in a screening program based on bpMRI of the prostate.
It is already known from literature that exercise mobilizes stem and progenitor cells into the peripheral blood. However, the exact mechanisms thereof remain to be fully elucidated. The investigators hypothesize that exercise-induced oxidative stress could be at least one of the responsible mechanisms and therefore want to study the exercise-induced stem and progenitor cell mobilization in a group of healthy young men when they exercise with, compared to when they exercise without antioxidative supplementation. The primary outcome is numbers of stem and progenitor cells in the peripheral blood after an acute bout of exercise. As a secondary outcome, numbers of apoptotic mature and immature cells in the blood will be analysed.
The ability to assess ingestion in fine detail over the time course of a liquid meal allows for comparison of early and late meal features of drinking and may help dissociate manipulations (surgical, neural, pharmacological, etc.) that affect orosensory properties from those that are modulating postoral processes in the control of intake. The aim of the study is to asses microstructural changes in liquid meal intake over 1-year in severely obese patients after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB).
In this study researchers want to gain more information on treatment patterns of patients treated with Xarelto in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). Both drugs reduce the risk of blood clots via different pathways. The study will enroll adult patients suffering from coronary artery disease (narrowing or blockage of vessels that supply the heart with blood) or peripheral artery disease (narrowing or blockage of vessels that supply the legs or head with blood). The study will focus on information on when and why physicians are starting to treat patients with Xarelto in addition to ASA, treatment duration, reasons to discontinue treatment and previous therapies. The study will also look into treatment outcomes for patients being treated with a combination of Xarelto and ASA by their physicians.
This is a multicenter, worldwide, open-label study of MK-8353 in combination with selumetinib in participants with histologically or cytologically confirmed diagnosis of advanced solid tumor. This study will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and exploratory efficacy of MK-8353 in combination with selumetinib.
Two recent RCTs showed the ability of tocilizumab to induce and maintain remission of giant cell arteritis. Both studies used the dosing schemes for Rheumatoid Arthritis (i.e. 8mg/kg bodyweight i.v. in 4-weekly intervals and 162mg weekly s.c., respectively). In both trials glucocorticoids (GC) were initially administrated at medium to high doses with subsequent rapid reduction and discontinuation over 24 weeks. In case of relapse, GC doses were re-increased. The results of both studies suggest that GC could be reduced more rapidly. This would further reduce GC-induced adverse effects. Thus, the investigators propose to perform an open label single arm study to assess the efficacy of ultra-short co-medication with GC, using Simon's minimax two-stage design.
Feasibility study to test the feasibility and acceptability of a designed personalized modular Intervention consisting of three modules, including Cancer and Living Meaningfully (CALM) Therapy, Dignity Therapy (DT), and a mindfulness-based Intervention
The purpose of this study is to compare sleep neurophysiology and behavior in adolescents with MDD with hypersomnia (MDD-HYP) and insomnia (MDD-INS) with healthy controls (HC). In addition, the investigators will test the efficacy of a simple behavioral sleep restriction on mood and sleep in their sample.
Nowadays, the gold standard for difficult airway management is awake intubation with a flexible fiberscope. Alternatively, when the flexible fiberscope is unable to facilitate tracheal intubation, rigid stylets may be used. One newly developed rigid video stylet also features a flexible tip (C-MAC VS, Karl Storz AG, 78532 Tuttlingen, Germany). The distal angular offset of the C-MAC VS, in which the camera and light sources are integrated, can be aligned (up to 60°) to the patient's anatomical structures to facilitate intubation. Although awake intubation is less comfortable for the patient and more time consuming, there are several reasons why this is often performed. The investigators plan a prospective observational with 36 participants using the C-MAC VS on adult patients with indication for awake oral intubation. To ease the placement of the tube (intubation), the investigators will use local anesthesia of the mucosa in the mouth, pharynx and larynx. The main purpose of the study is to prove the feasibility of successful awake intubation with the C-MAC VS in adult patients. If the new device proves reliable in facilitating awake oral, future patients benefit from an additional tool that allows fast and safe intubation in difficult airway situations.
This study will collect data on bleeds and data related to quality of life in people with severe congenital (a disease existing from birth) haemophilia A and B, with or without inhibitors. The aim for the study is to look at the number of bleeds when on usual treatment for haemophilia. Participants will be asked to keep an electronic diary to track the number of bleeds and the treatment of their bleeds. Participants will be asked to wear an activity tracker on their wrist to capture their level of activity every day for up to 12 weeks. While taking part in this study, participants will keep getting their usual treatment as given to them by their doctor. All study visits at the clinic are done in the same way as the participants are used to. In the time between the participants' visits to the clinic, the study staff at the clinic may call or email the participant. The study will last for about 2½ years.
