The study is designed to assess the efficacy, safety, tolerability, and transformation within the human body of INV-202 investigational drug in the treatment of adult participants with obesity and metabolic syndrome.
The study is being conducted to understand how the medicine, semaglutide, affects the immune system and other biological processes in people with Alzheimer's disease. Semaglutide is a medicine that doctors can prescribe in some countries for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and excess body weight. This study will help us understand whether semaglutide can also be used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The study will last for about 77 weeks. In the first 12 weeks of treatment, participants will either get semaglutide (active medicine) or placebo (inactive dummy medicine). Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. In the following 52 weeks of treatment, all participants taking part in the study will get semaglutide. Participants must have a study partner, who is willing to take part in the study. Participants will get study medicine in a pen injector. The study partner will need to inject the study medicine into the skin of participant's stomach, thigh or upper arm once every week.
The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to examine the effects of a walking intervention (3 walks per week for a period of 4 weeks) in a nature vs. urban setting on the wellbeing of young adult postsecondary students. We will examine changes in positive and negative affect for participants assigned to the nature condition vs those assigned to the urban condition (primary outcome). We will also examine changes in reported depression and anxiety symptoms, perceived stress levels, sleep quality, mindfulness and wellbeing (secondary outcome).
Mechanical ventilation is a vital support associated with the treatment of patients with acute respiratory failure and in other indications such as surgery under general anesthesia, coma or shock. Optimization of settings during mechanical ventilation and implementation of protective ventilation help to avoid ventilation-induced injury, ensure adequate oxygenation and maintain adequate carbon dioxide concentration to avoid respiratory acidosis or alkalosis. Similarly, there is also no clear recommendation, to our knowledge, for the initial setting of the respiratory rate. Therefore, initial settings are not always adequate and in the literature the frequency of respiratory acidosis is very high, reaching about half of the patients receiving mechanical ventilation. VentilO, is an application that is available on smart phones. This educational application provides clinicians with initial settings and optimization of these settings based on gender, height, weight, body temperature and patient type. The algorithm used is based on published data regarding ventilatory requirements in different populations and the anatomical and instrumental dead space of patients. The purpose of our study is to: Assess whether ventilatory settings after intensive care unit admission after cardiac surgery are appropriate to compare the ventilatory adjustments made by clinicians with those proposed by the VentilO application.
This study has been designed to conduct a pilot evaluation of a novel model of support aimed at promoting community integration (CI) following homelessness. This model is called the Peer to Community Model (P2C). The P2C model is an outreach peer support model aimed at facilitating CI for individuals living with concurrent disorders following homelessness. This approach uses relationship-building and engagement in meaningful activity facilitated by peer support specialists (PSS) in concert with occupational therapy (OT) and social work (SW) consultation. This model includes four distinct components: 1) peer support delivered in a community space dedicated to the program or community locations at a maximum ratio of 10:1; 2) OT and SW offering consultation to PSSs and service users; 3) a weekly support meeting for PSSs, OT and SW aimed at providing a venue for problem-solving through complex cases and providing mutual emotional support in the context of service delivery with a complex population; and 4) opportunities for social enterprise (developing ideas for income generation) within the community space. ***NOTE: This is a single model of support that includes the components identified above - these are not separate interventions, but various components of one intervention designed in previous research by the study team. In this clinical trial, the investigators will implement the P2C model for the first time. The study team will conduct a pilot study using an open randomized controlled trial, crossover design. A total of 20 participants will be assigned randomly to the intervention group, where they will receive P2C supports at baseline, and 20 participants will be assigned to a waitlist condition for six months, after which time, they will be offered the P2C intervention. Participants will be interviewed at baseline and every three months using mixed (qualitative and quantitative) interviews. Waitlisted participants will be interviewed during these same intervals using the same interview protocols, and while waiting, will receive care as usual.
The investigators conducted a validation study for the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)-XpressO compared to the digital-MoCA test (version 8.1) as the gold standard. Participants were recruited from the MoCA clinic and a family practice. Ethics approval was received, and all participants provided informed consent. A crossover study design was applied to the MoCA-XpressO and the digital-MoCA test; participants were randomized for the order of administration. The investigators only recruited participants who did not complete a MoCA test during the 3 months prior to the study. A logistic regression model was built, and the accuracy of the model was evaluated by the sensitivity, specificity, and area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve.
This study is looking at how safe it is to switch from emicizumab to Mim8, in people with haemophilia A. Mim8 is a new medicine that is used to prevent bleeding episodes in people with haemophilia A. Mim8 works by replacing the function of the missing clotting factor VIII (FVIII). Mim8 will be injected under the skin using a pen-injector either once every week, once every two weeks or once every month. The participants will be trained in using the pen injector. The participants can choose themselves, in collaboration with the study doctor how often they get Mim8 in this study. When the participant will get their first Mim8 injection depends on their current treatment with emicizumab. The participants will get their first Mim8 injection at Visit 2. Participants will have between 6 and 27 Mim8 injections. The total number of injections participants will have depends on their dosing frequency. The study will last for about 6-12 months. While taking part in this study, there are some restrictions about what medicine participant can use. The study doctor will tell the participants more about this. In case the participants experience bleeds, these can be treated with additional haemostatic medicine as agreed with the study doctor. Female participants cannot take part if they are pregnant, breast-feeding or plan to get pregnant during the study period.
Follitropin delta is a rFSH, uniquely expressed in a human fetal retinal cell line, which owing to differences in glycosylation profile has a lower clearance and induces a higher ovarian response in humans than existing rFSH preparations when administered at equal doses of biological activity. A noninferiority clinical trial (ESTHER-1) in which individualized dosage of follitropin delta according to each patient's profile (AMH and weight) was compared to conventional follitropin alfa dosing for IVF have demonstrated that an individualized follitropin delta dosing is noninferior to conventional follitropin alfa with respect to ongoing pregnancy rate, ongoing implantation rate, and also live births, with a concomitant reduction in iatrogenic complications, including OHSS
The goal of this pragmatic randomized clinical trial is to compare the effectiveness of a hybrid model of cardiac rehabilitation with a centre-based program in people with cardiovascular disease. The main question it aims to answer is: • How effective is a hybrid model of CR for people with cardiovascular disease living in a francophone minority community compared to a centre-based model of CR in terms of leading to maintenance of gains (physical activity level, functional capacity, mental health, quality of life) six months after CR? Participants will undergo a 12-week hybrid cardiac rehabilitation program. For the first six weeks, patients will be required to attend the hospital twice a week. After that, there will be a gradual increase in home sessions for the remaining six weeks. When a patient has a home session, health professionals will follow up with a weekly phone call. Researchers will compare the centre-based cardiac rehabilitation program with the hybrid program to see if the hybrid program can better maintain the level of physical activity, mental health, functional capacity, and quality of life six months after the end of the program.

Causes of poor sperm DNA integrity include unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking and exposure to gonadotoxins, as well as, obesity, varicoceles, infections, advanced paternal age and systemic disorders. An increase in DNA fragmentation in sperm has been linked to lower fertilisation rate, poorer quality embryos, lower pregnancy rate, and high miscarriages rate. The best way for sperm selection and processing in assisted reproductive technologies (ART) should be noninvasive and cost-effective.
