The purpose of this study is to determine if the Crux Vena Cava Filter System is safe and effective in preventing pulmonary embolism.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the safety, tolerability, pharmacodynamics (how the study medication affects the body) and pharmacokinetics (how the drug is absorbed in the body, how it is distributed within the body and removed from the body over time) of an intravenous administration of JNJ-39588146 or placebo over a 3-hour period in patients with heart failure. The highest tolerated dose received during the first 3 hours of the study will be administered to some patients for an additional 18 hours. There will be up to 3 doses given throughout the administration period over a total of up to 21 hours.
This randomized, 3-arm, multicenter, phase III study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) with pertuzumab or trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1) with pertuzumab-placebo (blinded for pertuzumab), versus the combination of trastuzumab (Herceptin) plus taxane (docetaxel or paclitaxel) in participants with HER2-positive progressive or recurrent locally advanced or previously untreated metastatic breast cancer. Participants will be randomized to 1 of 3 treatment arms (Arms A, B or C). Arm A will be open-label, whereas Arms B and C will be blinded.
The present trial is conducted to further assess the efficacy by means of serial spirometry, safety and tolerability of three doses of aclidinium bromide administered twice a day compared to previously approved BID drug, formoterol 12 µg, and placebo in patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).after 7 days on treatment. Every treatment period is 7-days long and there is a 5 to 7-days wash-out period in between them. The trial starts with a run in phase of 11 to 17-days duration and it ends up with a follow up contact 14-days after last treatment dose.

This randomized, blinded, parallel arm study evaluated the efficacy and safety of tocilizumab (RoActemra/Actemra) versus adalimumab as monotherapy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis who are intolerant of methotrexate or where continued treatment with methotrexate was considered inappropriate. Patients were randomized to receive either tocilizumab 8 mg/kg intravenously (iv) every 4 weeks plus placebo subcutaneously (sc) every 2 weeks, or adalimumab 40 mg sc every 2 weeks plus placebo iv every 4 weeks. Treatment was anticipated to last 24 weeks. With regard to the blind, the study nurse was unblinded due to the nature of the treatment administration, but the investigator and the patient remained blinded.
A new tablet form of PF-04531083 has been manufactured. Previously the compound was administered as a solution/suspension to healthy volunteers. This study will investigate the pharmacokinetics of PF-044531083 in tablet form and compare with the pharmacokinetics obtained, with the same dosing regimen, with the solution/suspension.
Human experimental pain models are useful in understanding the mechanisms underlying clinical pain conditions and can be used to test the analgesic efficacy of drugs used in the management of pain. Once established these models can be used as mechanism biomarkers in early development clinical studies to establish proof of mechanism for novel compounds. The cold pain model is a mechanistic pain biomarker with potential application in proof of mechanism studies. In this study we aim to set up this cold pain model at a Clinical Research Unit and demonstrate we can effectively screen subjects for this model and examine the effect of morphine, diphenhydramine, and gabapentin in the cold pain model.
Conventional pain efficacy measures such as Visual Analogue Scores (VAS) are often unable to detect treatment efficacy in small-scale clinical trials. Combining conventional pain efficacy measures with quantitative sensory testing (QST) may provide more sensitive and informative outcome measures in clinical trials.
