NCT ID: NCT01659632 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Early Gastric Cancer

Gastric Cancer Screening and Alarm Symptoms in Early Gastric Cancer

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Most of the early gastric cancer are asymptomatic. Symptoms of advanced gastric cancer are weight loss, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, anorexia dysphagia, gastrointestinal bleeding. Gastric cancer found according to warning symptoms such as gastrointestinal bleeding, weight loss usually can not be cured. Therefore, early gastric cancer can not be detected and impossible to treatment if endoscopy is performed according to the warning signs. National gastric cancer screening is conducted in men and women of more than 40 years old. The purpose of screening for gastric cancer is discovering a case of possible cure, so increasing the survival rate. The purpose of this study is review of the feasibility of screening for gastric cancer.

NCT ID: NCT01733771 Recruiting - Pain Clinical Trials

The Effect of Complementary Medicine (CAM) Treatments on Common Symptoms in Hospitalized Patients

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This study evaluates the effects of complementary medicine (CAM) treatments on patient reported outcomes in hospital settings, for hospitalized people. Various CAM modalities such as acupuncture, reflexology, guided imagery and hypnosis are evaluated. The investigators compare outcomes between two groups: Standard of care (treatments that are provided commonly in hospital) versus standard of care AND CAM treatments. Outcomes assessed are both quantitative i.e. scores on Visual Analogue Scale for various symptoms such as pain, nausea, wellbeing, anxiety, and qualitative such as Measure Yourself Concerns And Wellbeing.

NCT ID: NCT01747369 Recruiting - Pneumonia, Viral Clinical Trials

Surveillance of Hospitalised Pneumonia and Bacterial Meningitis in Tône District, Togo, 2010-2013

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study is to estimate the burden of disease due to pneumococci, other bacteria and viruses in the African meningitis belt prior to pneumococcal conjugate vaccine introduction and to estimate the population impact of the vaccine after its implementation in 2014. In a defined population of a sanitary district in northern Togo, during the period 2010 to 2017, investigators enroll patients of all ages with suspected pneumonia requiring hospitalization or suspected bacterial meningitis. Patients are evaluated by bacteriology and molecular biology techniques on blood, cerebro-spinal fluid, nasal aspirates and by chest X-ray.

NCT ID: NCT01756222 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Bicuspid Aortic Valve

Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV) Registry

BAV
Start date: April 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The purpose of this registry is to gather information on patients with bicuspid aortic valve disease.

NCT ID: NCT01903655 Recruiting - Depressive Disorder Clinical Trials

Study of the Telomere-telomerase System and the Expression of Candidate Genes in the Leukocytes of Patients With Depressive Disorder: Search for Peripheral Markers of Somatic Stress

Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The mechanisms of oxidative stress and inflammation involved in mood disorders are factors of chronicity and severity. These mechanisms induce a phenomenon of accelerated cellular senescence and are reflected by alterations in systemic gene expression detectable in leukocytes in peripheral blood. The genetic markers of these mechanisms are clinically significant markers. The identification of new genetic markers will make it possible to improve evaluations of the severity and somatic consequences of depressive syndromes.

NCT ID: NCT01905176 Recruiting - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

Management of Patients With HF by Using Educational or Educational & Telephone or Telephone Interventions and Support in Cyprus

MEETTinCY
Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The current trial aims to examine the effectiveness of three different types of nursing interventions, on heart failure (HF) patients' quality of life and on HF outcomes, compared to the usual care. The interventions include promotion of self-care practices through education and support; they are either provided before discharge, post-discharge through telephone, or both.

NCT ID: NCT01961713 Recruiting - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Circulating Tumor Cell Analysis in Patients With Localized Prostate Cancer Undergoing Prostatectomy

Start date: April 2010
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will evaluate a method to detect tumor cells that are circulating in the blood without getting a biopsy. The investigators already know from other studies that cancer tumors shed a small number of cells into the bloodstream every day. These are called circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Some early studies indicate the amount and type of CTCs in the blood can help determine the status of the tumor itself and the way it is responding to treatment. In this study, the investigators will compare the number of CTCs in the blood at different time frames before and after surgery to remove the prostate.

NCT ID: NCT02701036 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Late Onset Sporadic Cerebellar Ataxia

Sporadic Degenerative Ataxia With Adult Onset: Natural History Study

SPORTAX-NHS
Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

The key goals of SPORTAX-NHS is to compare the phenotype of multiple system atrophy of cerebellar type (MSA-C) and sporadic adult onset ataxia of unknown aetiology (SAOA) and to determine the rate of disease progression in both groups including determination of the factors that predict the development of MSA-C vs. SAOA, and at which time after onset of ataxia, a reliable distinction between both disorders is possible. The planned study will also allow to collect blood samples and other biomaterials from patients with sporadic ataxia, which will be useful for future genetic and biomarker studies.

NCT ID: NCT02873572 Recruiting - Gambling Clinical Trials

Vulnerability Markers in Pathological Gambling

GambleMMORe
Start date: April 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Addictions without substances are an emergent problem giving rise to a recent and increasing request of care. Among these new addictions, pathological gambling and pathological online video gaming which are up. The purpose of this study is to identify vulnerability factors (personality traits, decision making strategies...), which are common or specific to each type of game (on line poker, casino, MMORPG, and no-gamers).

NCT ID: NCT00532051 Recruiting - Cataract Clinical Trials

Intraocular Lens Power Calculation After Laser Refractive Surgery Based on Optical Coherence Tomography

OCT IOL
Start date: April 2011
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The long-term goal of this project is to utilize very high-speed optical coherence tomography (OCT) technology to guide surgical treatments of corneal diseases. OCT is well known for its exquisite resolution, but until recently it has not had sufficient speed to capture the shape of the cornea because of eye motion during OCT scanning. The development of Fourier-domain (FD) OCT technology has made the requisite speed possible. The objective of this project is to develop methods for imaging the cornea with an FD-OCT system that will precisely measure corneal shape and use this information to guide surgery. Cataract surgery in patients with previous laser vision correction often leads to significant near- or far-sightedness, a problem that could be resolved by using a more accurate intraocular lens power selection formula based on the measurement of corneal refractive power with OCT.
