Analysis of Volatile Organic Compounds in Patients With Type 1 Diabetes in Induced Hypoglycaemia With a Breath Analyser

The breath analysis (BreathSpec® device) data of all participants that were included into the VAARA study (NCT05771090) will be analysed, this includes data from up to 40 breath samples from each of the 10 participants who underwent 2 insulin-induced hypoglycaemic episodes during two visits. The primary objective is to find a possible association between volatile organic compounds (VOCs) measured by the BreathSpec® device and blood glucose. For this we will use descriptive statistics, correlation coefficients, as well as a Principal Component Analysis and a partial least squares discriminant analysis. Furthermore, the time lag between hypoglycaemia onset and change in VOCs will be quantified.

This R21 provides a multidisciplinary One Health approach to developing and evaluating a novel Cat Assisted Training (CAT) animal assisted intervention (AAI) for early adolescents with developmental disabilities (DD) and their family cat. Cat social behavior and welfare is heavily influenced by human behavior and training, making it highly likely that cats would also benefit from this program. There remains a critical need for further empirical evaluation of AAI practices, especially those that target the specific needs of youth with disabilities. Further extending the development and evaluation of activity-based AAIs beyond those that include dogs and horses also helps address the critical need to consider and include diverse human participants, creating new equitable opportunities for AAI involvement to those who may have access to cats, but not dogs and horses (due to practical, health, cultural, socio-economic, or other personal reasons).

Efficacy of Tadalafil (5mg) For Treatment of Early Storage Symptoms and Erectile Dysfunction After Endoscopic Enucleation of Prostate

From previous studies, the investigators found that sexual outcomes after prostate surgery may show insignificant improvement, remain unchanged or deteriorate in non-negligible number of patients especially those with high preoperative IIEF scores. Deterioration of erectile function could be attributed to persistence of storage symptoms specially nocturia. Several pathophysiologic mechanisms, described before, are involved in pathogenesis of LUTS and ED and one can imagine that after relief of obstruction, the erectile function should improve, however lack of improvement or even deterioration suggests that damage associated with these mechanisms is irreversible and patients may require some sort of penile rehabilitation after surgery. The investigators hypothesized that Tadalafil may enhance relief of storage symptoms and enhance recovery of erectile function after surgery for BPH. With this assumption, a RCT was designed to examine the utility and efficacy of Tadalafil, once daily dose, to relieve persistent/ de novo storage symptoms and early erectile function deterioration after endoscopic prostate surgery.

Primary Objective: Evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the MamaLift Plus app compared to control (digital sham plus treatment as usual) for the management of PPD in the observed population for a period of 9 calendar weeks. It is hypothesized that women who use the MamaLift Plus APP will experience less severe symptoms of depression in post-partum period than comparable women who do not and receive their usual care from health providers.

Nurses working in a private hospital were included in the sample of the study. A total of 66 nurses, 32 of whom were in the intervention and control groups, were included in the study. "Personal Information Form", "Intercultural Sensitivity Scale" and "Compassion Scale" were used to collect data. "Intercultural Sensitivity Training" consisting of four sessions was given to the intervention group.

Using Simulation to Support Staff and Improve Quality of Treatment: An Intervention Project Within Pediatrics

Background: Effective teamwork and quality care are crucial for patient safety overall. Simulation-based team training offers a valuable approach to improving communication, coordination, and decision-making among healthcare professionals, leading to better outcomes and a safer healthcare environment. By evaluating the effectiveness of this training method, the project aims to contribute to the continuous improvement of healthcare delivery. Hypothesis: Implementation of simulation-based team training in pediatric departments will lead to improved teamwork, communication, and coordination among healthcare professionals, resulting in enhanced patient outcomes and a safer healthcare environment. Setup: From April 2023 to April 2024 a simulation-based training program will be implemented. The intervention group consists of healthcare professionals working as physicians or nurses in four pediatric departments. The intervention entails increasing the quantity of simulation-based team training within the intervention group. Additionally, measures to enhance and support simulation will be introduced within the intervention group. Concurrently, another four pediatric departments will serve as a control group, in which no intervention will be implemented. Both groups consist of approximately 600 healthcare professionals, contributing to a total of 1,200 participants included in this project. Data collection: Registration of simulation: The simulation facilitator responsible for each session completes a brief web-based questionnaire made readily accessible from all platforms by QR-code. Data includes Regional ID (unique personal identifier), gender, age, profession, simulation duration, and content, as well as learning goals. Outcome measures include 1) patient safety culture, 2) rate of sick leave among healthcare professionals, 3) Apgar score, and 4) an intervention cost-benefit analysis.

The goal of this prospective observational cohort study is to validate previously developed Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) risk prediction algorithms, the Liver Risk Computation (LIRIC) models, which are based on electronic health records. The main questions it aims to answer are: - Will our retrospectively developed general population LIRIC models, developed on routine EHR data, perform similarly when prospectively validated, and reliably and accurately predict HCC in real-time? - What is the average time from model deployment and risk prediction, to the date of HCC development and what is the stage of HCC at diagnosis? The risk model will be deployed on data from individuals eligible for the study. Each individual will be assigned a risk score and tracked over time to assess the model's discriminatory performance and calibration.

Investigation Of Marginal Bone Loss In Implants With Different Surface Properties And Geometric Designs: A Retrospective Clinical Study

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of surface characteristics and geometric design on marginal bone loss and bone quality in dental implants. Materials and Methods: A total of 378 implants from 114 patients were evaluated in this study using panoramic and periapical radiographs. Implants were categorized into 19 subgroups according to the jaw where they were placed, length, diameter, surface preparation, type of prosthetic superstructure, and neck design. Radiological evaluations were conducted based on radiographs obtained at the time of implant placement and 3 months after prosthetic loading. After obtaining measurements of marginal bone loss and fractal analysis data, the significance of differences between groups was statistically evaluated.
