A Single-arm Phase II Trial Investigating the Efficacy and Safety of Zalutumumab in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer who have Progressive Disease after Treatment with Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitors.
This study will assess the clinical potency of several exposure levels of QGE031 in decreasing the sensitivity against peanut allergen.
The risk of infection after primary Total Hip Arthroplasties (THA)is generally estimated to be less than 1% but remains a severe and costly complication, source of morbidity and even mortality. The "biofilm" forms very early after the bacterial contamination of the prosthesis and poses a number of clinical challenges due to his resistance to immune defence mechanisms and antibiotics. Preventive strategies are needed. The poly sodium styrene sulfonate (pNaSS) is a bioactive polymer. In vitro and in vivo studies showed that poly sodium styrene sulfonate grafted on titane surfaces reduce significantly the bacterial adhesion. They also proved his biocompatibility and osseous-integration.
The primary objective of this study is to compare a combination of hyaluronic acid and chondroitin sulfate (V0220) to Hyalgan® on pain relief in patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis (OA) over 24 weeks when administered in three weekly injections. Chondroitin sulfate is one of the components of cartilage. Studies have shown that chondroitin sulphate improves the quality of the hyaluronic acid produced in the joint. The benefit of V0220 combination is based on two main physicochemical properties, in line with the characteristics of osteoarthritic disease: optimising the rheological behaviour and improving the buffering effect on synovial flow ("outflow buffering").
A phase III, randomized, open-label, superiority study comparing the incremental product esomeprazole associated with sodium bicarbonate made by Eurofarma and Nexium® in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. The study will enroll 94 patients in each arm (total of 188 patients).
RATIONALE: Probiotic therapy may reduce or prevent gastrointestinal complications in patients undergoing chemotherapy and pelvic radiation therapy. PURPOSE: This randomized phase III trial is studying how well probiotic therapy works in preventing gastrointestinal complications in patients undergoing chemotherapy and pelvic radiation therapy.
The purpose of this study is to determine if a healthy lifestyle intervention can significantly improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetics over a course of 3 months.
This is a large, community-based, cluster-randomized trial to compare routine prophylactic use of 600 mcg oral misoprostol and 10 IU oxytocin delivered by UnijectTM intramuscularly during the third stage of labor.
This clinical study is a scientific study on patients who do not have any limbal stem cells. In this clinical study tissue is taken from the inside of the mouth, and cells from that tissue (epithelial cells) will be grown to form a multilayered cell-sheet, called CAOMECS, which is then transplanted onto the cornea. This transplantation method should repair the damage of the cornea. The aim of this study is to see if the transplantation of CAOMECS renews the surface of the eye, by preventing the growth of the conjunctiva over the cornea and stopping new small blood vessels forming.
Preliminary research has shown that a vaginal gel containing the antiretroviral (ARV) drug tenofovir may reduce the risk of HIV infection in women when used near the time of sexual intercourse. This study will evaluate the safety of 1% tenofovir gel in HIV-uninfected pregnant women and their newborns when the gel is used once a day for a period of 28 days at a designated time during pregnancy.
