Effects of Aromatherapy on Patient Satisfaction With Surgical Abortion at Less Than 10 Weeks Gestation

The investigators propose a single-site, double-blinded, placebo-controlled clinical trial of lavender aromatherapy versus placebo for patient satisfaction in adult women having a surgical abortion before 10 weeks and 0 days gestation. The investigators will evaluate whether lavender aromatherapy is an effective adjunct therapy for patient satisfaction during first trimester surgical abortion. The investigators will measure satisfaction using the Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale (ISAS). The investigators hypothesize that women receiving lavender aromatherapy will report higher satisfaction scores compared to women receiving placebo. Prior studies have investigated the use of aromatherapy in laboring patients, in menstruating women, and in general post-operative populations. No investigations have focused on the use of lavender aromatherapy as an adjunct therapy to paracervical block and/or oral narcotics and anxiolytics in outpatient surgical abortion. Our study is novel in investigating patient satisfaction with first trimester surgical abortion using lavender aromatherapy. The contribution of this proposed research to the literature is significant because current affordable anesthetic adjuncts to opioids and benzodiazepines are limited.

Peripheral venous blood samples of the patients will be collected for next-generation sequencing of BRCA and DNA damage repair related genes. At the same time, it is necessary to record clinical information such as age, gender, tumor pathological type, tumor stage and grade, whether surgery is performed, the size of postoperative residual lesions, and treatment methods. Prognostic indicators include the association of factors such as PFS, ORR, and DCR are also recorded.

Effectiveness and Safety of Fulvestrant in Postmenopausal Women With Advanced Breast Cancer HR+, HER2-

A phase IV, single arm study will be performed in postmenopausal women with locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer. All patients included will receive fulvestrant from Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, in accordance with local practice and the regulatory authorization of the drug in Colombia. This study will be carried out for 1 year and approximately 40 patients will be included in 2 research centers selected for its conduct. Patients who meet the inclusion criteria and who do not have to be discarded from entering the study due to meeting any of the exclusion criteria, will be evaluated to determine the effectiveness and tolerability of the administration of Dr. Reddy's fulvestrant at a dose of 500 mg / month plus an additional indicated dose 14 days after the initial dose, for 12 months of follow-up or until disease progression or the appearance of unacceptable toxicity. The assessment of tolerability will be carried out based on the collection of data related to adverse events from the first dose administered.

The goal of this interventional study is to test the use of olfactory Essential Oils through a nasal stick as one of the non-medicinal strategies to propose to the patient to reduce the consumption of medication in a population of stabilized patients with psychiatric disorder. The main objective is to evaluate whether the olfaction of a mixture of essential oils can reduce the intake of BZRAs, prescribed if needed. The investigators want to compare the number of medications prescribed on "if needed" basis before and after the introduction of Essential Oils. A period prior to inclusion is used to assess the participant's frequency of BZRA use. Then, participants will received Essential Oils through a nasal stick during 4 weeks. During this period, the patient completes weekly anxiety and sleep scales and at the final visit, weekly and monthly anxiety and sleep scales.

The objective of this Study is to collect, process, and transfer biologic samples such as blood and/or tissue biopsies to determine the concordance of detected alterations obtained through liquid biopsy analyses compared to next generation sequencing of time-matched or archival tissue specimens from individuals with advanced solid tumors. Examples of locally advanced and metastatic tumors include stage III and IV cancers (ex. lung, breast, all gastrointestinal malignancies, all gynecologic malignancies, prostate cancer, head and neck tumors, soft tissue cancers, and melanoma). These specimens will be analyzed for diagnostic purposes and research (either by Labcorp/OmniSeq or to a third-party recipient designated by Labcorp/OmniSeq). Labcorp/OmniSeq may transfer the specimens and data to its clients, including commercial, academic or non-profit research institutions; or alternatively, may retain the specimens in its repository for future research use at the sole discretion of Labcorp/OmniSeq and or assignees. Labcorp/OmniSeq will maintain all detailed clinical information including demographic data (de-identified), ethnicity, disease state, stage (radiological, pathological and clinical-whichever is relevant).

Immediate Dental Prosthesis Functionalization Protocol in People Over 70 Years of Age

Sarcopenia and malnutrition are closely involved in frailty. To prevent them, it is essential to assess oral function. "Oral fragility" manifests with specific signs or symptoms, including occlusion loss due to tooth loss and chewing difficulty. To recover from it, restoring function by placing a dental prosthesis in the event of tooth loss is essential. In Chile, many patients referred to secondary care to perform new prosthetic treatment live in conditions of less oral functionality and enter waiting lists that can take years, impacting general functionality. Falls are a public health problem with a high economic cost, the second cause of death worldwide. One of the causes is sarcopenia, and it has been studied that the decrease in the number of teeth and the occlusal posterior support region may be risk factors for decreased gait speed, an objective measurement of fall risk. It has been studied that the decrease in the number of teeth causes a reduction in total muscle mass, walking speed and lower quality of life. General objective: To evaluate the impact on the general functionality of applying an immediate prosthetic functionalization protocol in patients with deficient removable prostheses, compared with conventional treatment, at the secondary level of the health system, in patients over 70 years of age. Methodology: randomized, double-blind clinical trial with two groups of 62 patients each: experimental and control. The intervention will consist of recovering prosthetic function in one session before conventional rehabilitation vs the control group receiving conventional rehabilitation. Measurements will include manual grip strength measurements made with a Jamar dynamometer, timed up-and-go test, before and after prosthetic treatments and quality of life related to oral health through Ohip 7sp. Descriptive statistics will be applied through the registration of frequency and contingency tables. To compare hand grip strength, Pearson's Correlation will be used; for risk of pre and post-fall, the t-test will be applied for two related samples; for quality of life before and after the intervention, Chi2 will be used; changes in grip strength, fall risk and quality of life, between the different groups according to the Eichner index, one-way ANOVA will be applied, for related samples.

PreOperative Brain Irradiation in Glioblastoma (POBIG) is a phase I study that will test the safety and feasibility of a single fraction of preoperative radiotherapy in patients with a new radiological diagnosis of glioblastoma (GBM). After the single fraction of radiotherapy, patients will receive standard treatment. The standard treatment consists of resection of the tumor followed by (chemo)radiation (i.e. radiotherapy +/- daily temozolomide (75mg/m2) for 6 weeks (60Gy/30fr) or for 3 weeks (40Gy/15fr)).
