Manual therapy are among the therapeutic approaches frequently used in chronic low back pain (CLBP). Although most clinicians conduct patient education according biomedical model of pain, a relatively new approach which is referred to as neuroscience pain education (NPE) is promising in patients with CLBP. Therefore the aim of this study was to investigate whether NPE in patients with CLBP who treated via manual therapy technique will produce different outcomes in terms of pain severity and QoL compared to traditional patient education.
The effect of Lactobacillus rhamnosus supplementation on body weight, hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance in overweight and obesity women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome will be analysed.
Obesity is associated with progressive decreases in arterial health and function. It is crucial to prevent or reduce the negative effects of aging on the vasculature by implementing appropriate lifestyle interventions, such as exercise training. We examined the effects of a Mat Pilates training (MPT) regimen on arterial stiffness (pulse wave velocity, PWV), blood pressure (BP), wave reflection (AIx) and endothelial function in obese premenopausal women with elevated BP.
To investigate the correlation between the mean glucose concentration measured by continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and the estimated mean blood glucose from glycated haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in persons with type 2 diabetes and on chronic haemodialysis. Furthermore, the aim is to compare CGM and HbA1c with glycated albumin and fructosamine.
The mortality due to congenital heart diseases has decreased in recent decades, even for infants with the most complex lesions.Therapeutic advances have prolonged the lifespan of people with these diseases. However, there are specific social and psychological troubles that appear later in life and can compromise employability, insurability and social integration. There are different types of congenital heart disease: those not operated in adulthood, and those operated for curative or palliative purposes. It is estimated that about 10 out of 1000 babies are born with a congenital cardiac malformation. One-third of these have a critical diagnosis requiring a surgical intervention. Data from the literature show that there is an unusually high prevalence of psychosocial, neurological, developmental and psychiatric disabilities among survivors, as they enter formal education. There are many factors that influence developmental outcomes at school age. Early intervention is an essential element in controlling these comorbidities. The continuous monitoring of the development by a multidisciplinary team would make it possible to identify a developmental disorder as soon as it appears and respond to it as quickly as possible. For many children and their families, the burden of the developmental consequences is higher than the daily impact of the heart disease. Most studies and measures of quality of life in congenital heart patients require methodological improvements. They contribute little to the scientific basis of the quality of life in these patients. Future quality of life studies must invest in rigorous conceptualization, adequate operational definition and a good measure of quality of life. The investigators propose to develop a reproducible and reliable quality of life measurement tool, suitable for adult patients suffering from congenital heart disease and having had surgery during childhood.
The purpose of this study was to examine the impacts of a 12-week resistance band exercise program on body composition, aging-related hormones, and blood pressure in postmenopausal women with stage 1 hypertension. Twenty postmenopausal women with hypertension participated in this study. Participants were randomly allocated into the resistance band training group (EX, n = 10) or the control group (CON, n = 10). The EX group performed a resistance band exercise training program at jump rope training program at 40-70% of their heart rate reserve (HRR) 5 days/week for 12 weeks (sessions 60 minutes in duration). The CON group did not participate in any exercise, dietary, or behavioral intervention. Body composition, aging-related hormones (growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor 1, dehydroepiandrosterone, and estradiol), and blood pressure were measured before and after the 12-weeks study.
This study evaluated the postoperative pain after the endodontic treatment using AH Plus, Endoseal MTA and EndoSequence BC sealers in root canal obturation.
Thalassemia becomes one of global health issue and so does Indonesia. In 2015, more than 7600 children were diagnosed as this hemoglobin genetic disease wherein anemia and lifetime blood transfusion contribute to their morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Major β-Thalassemia is the most common type found. However, along with disease progression and age, iron accumulation and dysregulation becomes the most common complication exist. In cellular level, this condition results in cell and tissue damage especially immune cells and promotes favor condition for siderophilic bacteria such as Mycobaterium tuberculosis (Mtb) to growth rapidly. Severe infection becomes the second most cause of death in thalassemia-β major patients. Tuberculosis (Tb) remains the global health issue especially in developing countries. Based on World Health Organization (WHO) report on 2015, Indonesia is the second highest burden of TB in the world. Both of adaptive and innate immune system plays important role in Mtb recognition and eradication. However, immune cells mechanism and activity in response to Mtb infection during iron accumulation condition on thalassemia-β major patients may be altered therefore need for further study. Macrophage is an adaptive immune cell, has a pivotal role on circulating-iron regulation and serves as Mtb host cell. To understand macrophage activity on thalassemia-β major patients can be studied by monocyte characteristic stimulated by Mtb antigen and evaluated by its differentiation into three subsets based on CD14 and CD16. Mtb antigen presentation is identified by HLA-DR expression on monocyte membrane. Vitamin D is one of the most affected micronutrients on major β-thalassemia patients, yet it has immunomodulatory effect on immune system. Recent finding of vitamin D receptor (VDR) expressed in monocyte strongly convince that vitamin D should be maintained in major β-thalassemia patients where it is found lower in these patients. Thus, this original and true report aimed to declare that the research activity has finished and the data has been elaborated. Future plan is developing the original article based on the research finding corroborating the previous knowledge and innovative suggestion for the quality of thalassemia.
The study aims to evaluate the use of 3D endoanal ultrasound in preoperative management of anal fistula disease.
