Clinical Response and Safety Following FMT for UC

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of fecal microbiota transplantation by automatic methods in the treatment of moderate to severe active ulcerative colitis. There are two groups according to FMT pathway ( through a naso-jejunal tube or transendoscopic enteral tubing). Patients were followed up until 2 weeks after the final FMT in hospital.

NCT ID: NCT04313738 Completed - COPD Clinical Trials

Transtheoretical Model Based Nursing Interventions on Smoking Cessation in Patients With COPD

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficiency of nursing intervention based on smoking cessation transtheoretical model in patients with COPD who smoke Method: Experimental design was used in the study. Thirty-three patients in the study group were completed with 35 chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients in the control group. Sociodemographic characteristics data form, Fagerstrom Nicotine Dependency Test, Transteoretic Model Decision Making Scale, Self-efficacy Scale, Change Stages Scale and Behavior Modification Scale were used as data collection form. In the analysis of the data, the significance test of the difference between the two means, the significance test of the difference between two peers, the two-ratio test, Chi square, Mann Withney U test and Wilcoxon test were used. Results: Decision-making subscale scores, self-efficacy score scores, and behavior modification methods subscale scores showed significant increases (p<.05) in the decision-making subscale of the patients in the experimental group after the home nursing interventions (p<.05). While there was a significant improvement in the change stages, 9 patients in the experimental group and 2 patients in the control group had left the cigarette but the difference between them was significant (p<.05). What does this paper contribute? - Nursing interventions with home visits based on transtheoretical model supplied to quit smoking of patients - The nursing interventions with home visits based on transtheoretical model contributed positively to behavioral change in patients' smoking cessation.

NCT ID: NCT04324346 Completed - Clinical trials for Catheter Related Complications

Central Catheters Used for Chemotherapy in Women With Breast Cancer

PICC&PAC
Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The overall aim of this study is to evaluate two different central venous lines, PICC-lines (PICC) and subcutaneous venous access ports (SVAP) used for chemotherapy in women with breast cancer. The study will compare complications, material wear of the catheters used, patients'- and health care professionals' experiences, and costs. The study will give knowledge about which central venous access that is the most advantageous regarding adjuvant chemotherapy for women with breast cancer in the aspects of safety, quality of care, and quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT04325399 Completed - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

A Randomised Controlled Trial of a Brief Planning Intervention to Promote Physical Activity

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

People of low socioeconomic status are more inclined to incur poor health than those of high socioeconomic status. Different factors have been attributed to contributing to such health inequalities, including differences in modifiable lifestyle factors. For example, people of high socioeconomic status are more likely to engage in greater levels of physical activity, and are more inclined to adhere and take up population-level behaviour change interventions. Subsequently, there has been a call to create more targeted interventions designed to especially target people with low socioeconomic status. Socioeconomic status represents availability and access to resources, and measures that are broadly divided into individual measures such as income, education and occupational status, and area-level or neighbourhood deprivation measures. However, while socioeconomic status is a multifaceted concept, there is a tendency in research to use a single measure (such as either income or education level) interchangeably to capture the full scope of socioeconomic status. This is based upon the assumption that one socioeconomic measure taps into the underlying features of another aspect of socioeconomic status, despite little being known about the effect each socioeconomic status measure has upon physical activity intervention outcomes. Therefore the purpose of this study is to consider the effect the different measures of socioeconomic status, specifically income, occupational status, education and area deprivation, have upon the effectiveness of an established implementation intentions-based intervention (the volitional helpsheet) designed to increase physical activity.

NCT ID: NCT04346732 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Vapocoolant Spray on Venipuncture Pain in Young Male Donors

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Aim: The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of vapocoolant spray in reducing pain related to venipuncture in young, healthy male blood donors. Hypotheses: H1: Vapocoolant spray reduces venipuncture pain during blood donation. H0: Vapocoolant spray does not reduce venipuncture pain during blood donation.

NCT ID: NCT04387526 Completed - Clinical trials for Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection

NCT ID: NCT04393012 Completed - Clinical trials for Problems With Access to Health Care

Providing Access to an Alternative Nurse Call

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To address the needs of the many patients who cannot access the standard nurse call systems Iowa Adaptive Technologies has developed the Noddle, a smart switch that can take the smallest intentional gesture a patient can make (e.g. tongue click, wink) and allow the patient to access the nurse call system and control a speech-generating device. This study will assess how patients and their nurses as well as family members perceive the impact of having a device that would allow them to summon the nurse and to be able to effectively communicate. Patients will be provided a Noddle and will be free to use it as much or a little as they like during their hospitalization. Patients will either use the Noddle just to access the nurse call system or they will use it to access the nurse call system and a speech-generating device. Patients, nurses and family members will be asked to complete an exit questionnaire prior to discharge from the hospital.

NCT ID: NCT04496323 Completed - Healthy Clinical Trials

Energy Expenditure in Golf

Start date: April 1, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Structured exercise and physical activity are well known to not only improve physical fitness, but also alter various health parameters in a positive fashion. To yield health benefits, exercises need to meet certain characteristics e. g. specific levels of intensity or duration. To evaluate intensity levels and therefor possible improvements in physical conditioning in golf the investigators conducted this study with two groups of each 10 subjects. The groups differed in age and skill level (handicap, hcp). Each group went through a exercise session on the driving range (DR) and a 9-hole compeition round of golf. The investigators assessed spirometrical data (breath-by-breath) to evaluate energy expenditure (EE) and intensity levels of physical activity according to the ACSM guidelines.
