There are more than 498,563 clinical trials published worldwide with over 60,000 trials that are currently either recruiting or not yet recruiting. Objectives: The primary objective of this trial is to determine the effect of aerobic exercise training (AET) on change in quality of life (QoL) in lymphoma survivors receiving and not receiving chemotherapy. Secondary objectives are to determine the effects of AET on changes in psychosocial outcomes, cardiopulmonary fitness, body composition, and treatment completion rates.
RATIONALE: Chemoprevention is the use of certain drugs or supplements to keep cancer from forming, growing, or coming back. The use of omega-3 fatty acids may prevent breast cancer. PURPOSE: This randomized clinical trial is studying how well omega-3 fatty acids work in preventing breast cancer in women at high risk of developing breast cancer.
Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) are a class of anti-HIV drug that can be an important part of an HIV treatment regimen. Because anti-HIV therapy may have negative side effects, there is a great need to carefully study HIV infected patients on such regimens. One negative side effect observed in many HIV infected patients is lipoatrophy, a condition that results in fat loss in the body. It is unclear if NRTIs also have a role in the development of mitochondrial toxicity, a condition that affects the body's ability to produce energy. The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of an NRTI-based, protease inhibitor (PI)-sparing drug regimen on fat loss in HIV infected, treatment-naive adults. Study hypothesis: The initiation of NRTI-containing, PI-sparing therapy will inhibit mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) synthesis and lead to a decrease in mtDNA content in adipose tissue, skeletal muscle and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), will cause deterioration in mitochondrial function, will increase fat apoptosis and oxidative damage biomarkers, and will lead to progressive decrease in body fat content.
RATIONALE: Vaccines made from a person's tumor cells and white blood cells may help the body build an effective immune response to kill tumor cells. PURPOSE: This phase I/II trial is studying the side effects of vaccine therapy and to see how well it works in treating patients with stage IV melanoma.
Helical tomotherapy is being used to treat the prostate gland, local rates of spread and regional lymph nodes whilst sparing gross structures. The radiation to the gross disease in the prostate is hypofractionated and dose escalated. Magnetic resonance spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) is incorporated into pre- and post-treatment evaluation.
This research study will assess whether AAB-001 is safe, well tolerated and effective for use in patients with Alzheimer's Disease. AAB-001 is a new drug that is not available outside this study. AAB-001 is an antibody (a type of protein usually produced by white blood cells to destroy other substances in the body). In Alzheimer's disease a protein called amyloid gathers in the brain and is thought to cause symptoms like memory loss and confusion. It is hoped that AAB-001 will attach to the amyloid protein in your brain and help your body to remove it.
The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety of the PFX Closure System when utilized for patients with patent foramen ovale (PFO) suffering from cryptogenic stroke, transient ischemic attacks or paradoxical embolism.
The purpose of this study is to examine whether RV (right ventricular)septal pacing has any effect on LV ( left ventricular) function than RV apical pacing in patients who require ventricular pacing.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether an aerobic and resistance training program or a functional electrical stimulation-assisted Walking program is more effective for reducing health complications related to spinal cord injury, for example, the occurrence of bladder infections, pressure sores and/or frequency of spasms. It is hypothesized that the functional electrical stimulation-assisted walking will have a greater impact on secondary complications than the aerobic and resistance training program.
A randomized controlled study is conducted on patients with histological stage III colorectal cancer assigned to postoperative adjuvant therapy of uracil-tegafur plus leucovorin (UFT+LV), UFT+LV / UFT, or UFT+LV+PSK / UFT+PSK. The usefulness of the three regimens was evaluated by comparing the disease-free survival rate, overall survival rate, incidence and severity of adverse event, and quality of life.
