The purpose of this study is to evaluate safety, immunogenicity of ID93+GLA-SE compared to placebo following three intramuscular (IM) injections on Days 0, 28 and 56 in BCG-vaccinated QFT-negative healthy adolescent. The healthy adolescent will all have had the childhood TB vaccine called BCG, and all of them must have a negative result for a blood test for exposure to the bacteria that cause TB (QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus, or "QFT"). Study participants will be followed for 12 months after the last injection for safety reasons. Blood will be drawn for laboratory tests for safety and immunogenicity tests. The study hypothesis is that the vaccine is safe and immunogenic in this study population.
Palliative care has received considerable attention in Taiwan in recent years. The relevant research has been widely conducted for palliative care in adult population. However, the research in children population is relatively insufficient. In the limited studies, most of them are the experiences generated from individual institutions. This study is going to retrieve the data from 2008-2017 National Health Insurance Research Database, Cancer Registry Database, Death Registry Database and other relevant materials in order to analyze the trends of using pediatric palliative care service, the types of services, the timing of initiating palliative care, and the preference of using palliative care service among different life span in the past decade. In addition, the study will examine the differences of the timing of initiating of pediatric palliative care service and the types of diseases among different characteristics of children and healthcare providers. And the study will discuss how pediatric palliative care services affect medical costs.
The purpose of this study is to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Pipeline™ Vantage Embolization Device with Shield Technology™ in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms within the intended indication for use.
This open-label, randomized study for evaluating the efficacy and safety of single agent belantamab mafodotin when compared to pom/dex in participants with RRMM. Participants will be randomized in a 2:1 ratio to receive either single agent belantamab mafodotin or pom/dex. Belantamab mafodotin will be administered on Day 1 (D1) at every 3 weeks (Q3W) schedule. Pomalidomide will be administered daily on Days 1 to 21 of each 28-day cycle, with dexamethasone administered once weekly (Days 1, 8, 15, and 22). Participants in both arms will be treated until disease progression, death, unacceptable toxicity, withdrawal of consent, and lost to follow-up or end of study, whichever comes first.
Effectively identifying and treating risk factors for ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) is important to patients, their family members, and healthcare systems. While obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a known risk factor for stroke and TIA that is present in more than 70% of stroke/TIA survivors, testing for OSA is infrequently performed for patients and within healthcare systems. The Addressing Sleep Apnea Post-Stroke/TIA (ASAP) study intends to improve rates of guideline-recommended OSA testing and treatment through local quality improvement initiatives (QI) conducted within and across 6 VA Medical Centers. ASAP will also determine the impact of these local QI initiatives on rates of OSA diagnosis, OSA treatment, recurrent vascular events, and hospital readmissions.
Adults with substance use disorder (SUD) tend to have started smoking at a younger age and are more likely to be heavy smokers. Due to the many conflicting priorities in this population, smoking cessation is often relegated and ignored by both patients and their healthcare providers. As of 2008, only 2 out of 5 addiction treatment providers in the US offered behavioral treatment for smoking cessation, and less than 1 in 5 offered pharmacotherapy. However, many researchers have found that smoking cessation has positive effects on abstinence from other drugs, as smoking appears to increase craving for and the likelihood of using drugs. Contingency Management is a highly-effective, evidence based methodology demonstrated to be effective at reducing the use of all types of substances in over 100 randomized controlled trials and 7 meta-analyses. BrightView, an outpatient substance abuse treatment center with several locations across the state of Ohio, has partnered with DynamiCare Health to implement DynamiCare's innovative digital Contingency Management (CM) platform among BrightView's outpatient population of primarily low-income substance use disorder patients with comorbid nicotine dependence/tobacco use disorder. DynamiCare's platform automates Contingency Management to support smoking cessation interventions via smartphone app. This app rewards participants for negative substance tests and appointment attendance (using GPS tracking) to incentivize abstinence and promote engagement in treatment. The goal of this study is to reduce tobacco disparities for low-income adult participants using DynamiCare's digital intervention, and to build a rapidly scalable, sustainable process that makes the field of smoking cessation more effective, accountable, and accessible.
In this clinical trial, five strains of probiotics (Bifidobacterium breve Bv-889, B. longum subspecies infantis BLI-02, B. bifidum VDD088, B. animalis subsp. lactis CP-9, Lactobacillus plantarum PL-02) with anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory functions will been applied to slow down the development of the Alzheimer's disease through regulating the intestinal flora and immune system of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease symptoms. The efficacy of probiotic treatment against Alzheimer's disease will be evaluated.
This phase II study is designed to investigate the efficacy of intraoperative radiotherapy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with resectable pancreatic cancer. The purpose of the study is to show the local recurrence rate after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and IORT is superior to that of surgical resection alone from the historical control. A total of 80 patients will be enrolled, and these patients will receive IORT of 10 Gy at 5 millimeter depth of the tumor bed, following neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
