Ketotifen: as a Cardioprotective Agent in Breast Cancer Patients Receiving Anthracycline-containing Chemotherapy

The objective of our study was to evaluate the expected cardioprotective effects of ketotifen due to its activity as an iron-chelating agent previously uncovered by us in the in vitro chemical test which included in the study, when used in patients receiving anthracyclines for the treatment of breast cancer. The study was a randomized : , prospective controlled trial : , and the patients were identified by coded numbers to maintain privacy. Eligible patients (111) fulfilled the criteria. Control Group: 55 patients received their standard therapy (anthracycline-containing chemotherapy without ketotifen). Ketotifen Group: 56 patients received anthracycline-containing chemotherapy plus ketotifen as a cardioprotective agent. Ketotifen will be given orally as one tablet (1 mg/tablet) 3 times daily, before and during the chemotherapeutic cycle for 6 cycles of treatment. Blood samples were obtained from all patients, and echocardiography two times for each patient at baseline and after 6 months (EF%).

Effects a Honey Based Syrup on Blood Parameters in Patients With Breast Cancer

Study aim Determination of the effect of a honey based (HB) syrup on the blood parameters of patients with breast cancer Design Two arm parallel group randomised clinical trial, double blinded Settings and conduct Design of the study: Women patients with breast cancer referring to Shohaday-e- Tajrish Hospital of Tehran who are under chemotherapy treatment. In order to blind the investigator, medications are named as "A" for syrup of HB and B for placebo. The patients don't aware of the type of drug they are assigned to. In addition, the groups are entered into statistical analysis as "A" and "B. The patients will revive either A or B syrup for 4 weeks. At the beginning of the trial demographic data would be gathered. Also, a blood sample would be drawn at the beginning time and after the end of intervention period (week 4). Data would be analysed by SPSS software using T-test.

The primary purpose of this study is adapt the Cultivando la Salud (CLS) intervention for a new community and priority population and to train community health workers (promotoras) from the Prosalud promotora program to implement the adapted CLS breast and cervical cancer screening program. The adaptation and delivery of the CLS intervention program focuses on meeting the needs and supporting of CHWs and Hispanic/Latina women in the Greater Houston Area. Finally, this study aims to evaluate the process and effect of the adapted CLS program (renamed Salud en Mis Manos (SEMM) on increasing mammography and cervical cancer screening.

Interest of Virtual Reality to Prevent Cancer Patient Anxiety Before Chemotherapy or an Invasive Act

The aim of the REV clinical trial is to evaluate the impact of a virtual reality exposure to decrease patient anxiety before chemotherapy or an invasive act. If positive, the access to virtual reality exposure is aimed to be used as standard of care at Lyon's hospital to improve cancer patient well-being in a drug-free manner. The majority of cancer patients lives with high level of anxiety as soon as diagnosed. This level anxiety is particularly high before invasive acts but also before chemotherapy by side effects anticipation. Hypnosis is a highly interesting drug-free approach to decrease patient's anxiety. It however requires on site specialists to be available whenever needed. Virtual reality provides a distractive environment enabled to shift patient focus. It can support a switch of patient mindset by providing positive emotions. Since 5 years, this disruptive technology is being more and more used as medical support thanks to a new generation of headsets enabling improved performance at cheaper prices. Many publications have now demonstrated the positive impact of virtual reality to take in charge patients' pain or pre-operational anxiety.
