Filter by:This randomized pilot clinical trial studies arm circumference measurement with or without bioimpedance spectroscopy in finding extra lymph node fluid build up in the arm (lymphedema) early in patients with stage I-III breast cancer undergoing lymph node dissection or sentinel node biopsy. Diagnostic procedures, such as bioimpedance spectroscopy, may allow doctors to find and diagnose lymphedema earlier than arm circumference measurement alone.
The purpose of this single-arm phase II trial is to determine whether nicotinamide riboside (NIAGEN®) prevents the progression of peripheral sensory neuropathy in patients receiving infusions of paclitaxel or nab-paclitaxel for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer or recurrent platinum-resistant ovarian, endometrial, peritoneal, fallopian tube cancer or metastatic head and neck cancer.
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how to treat patients with a diagnosis of diagnosis of Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2/neu (HER-2/neu) positive breast cancer in the past, who were previously treated with HER-2/neu-directed dendritic cells (DC) vaccines. There is evidence that the use of anti-HER2 dendritic cell (DC) study vaccines could improve response to breast cancer therapy and be an important step in the prevention of recurrence. This study will use a Dendritic Cell Type 1 (DC1) vaccine which is a HER2-sensitized dendritic cell (DC) study vaccine. Dendritic cells are immune cells that can tell the participant's immune system to fight infection. This study vaccine will be made from the participant's blood cells collected from a procedure called leukapheresis.
This pilot trial studies how well photoacoustic imaging works in diagnosing changes in tumors in participants with breast cancer, sarcoma, skin cancer, or soft tissue malignancy and healthy volunteers. Photoacoustic imaging is a low-risk imaging method that provides information about the oxygenation of tissues using a combination of light and ultrasound techniques. Photoacoustic imaging uses a signal from hemoglobin to provide information on blood flow and oxygen levels, and it may be helpful in determining changes in tumors after chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
Oral anticancer treatments account a quarter of cancer treatments. These oral treatments are allowed at home, avoid hospitalization and limit the use of central venous routes. Oral treatments cause many side effects and patients are reluctant to report them because they are afraid that their treatment will be changed. But when these side effects are poorly managed, they can reduce adherence to treatment. The main hypothesis of this randomized study is that the combination of an initial consultation with a trio (nurse, doctor, pharmacist) and a weekly telephone nurse follow-up during the administration of oral anticancer treatments decreases the rate and duration of side effects. The main objective is to evaluate the impact at 3 months of a optimized management by an initial consultation with a trio nurse, doctor, pharmacist and a weekly nurse telephone follow-up versus a standard management on the level of digestive, skin and mucosal side effects of grade 3 in patients with oral chemotherapy. This randomized study is realized in patients with kidney or breast cancer.
This phase III trial evaluates mammographic breast density in participants with hormone receptor-negative breast cancer enrolled on study A011502. High breast density has been shown to be a strong risk factor for developing breast cancer and decreasing breast density may decrease the risk for breast cancer. Participants treated with aspirin may show reduced breast density on a mammogram.
This research study is studying a topical ointment called calcipotriene to see if it can stimulate the immune cells against the breast lesion in ways that would prevent its recurrence after surgical removal
A diet consisting of a reduced quantity of the essential amino acid methionine sensitizes cancer cells to radiation therapy and reduces metastasis formation and disease progression in mice. However, to date, dietary restriction of methionine has not been tested in combination with radiation therapy in humans as a strategy to improve patient outcomes.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of a dedicated Magnetic Resonance guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MR-HIFU) unit in ablating breast cancer by comparing MR imaging and pathologic specimen after resection. Single-center, single-arm, non-randomized trial
Feasibility study to examine the preventative ability of massage therapy on paclitaxel induced peripheral neuropathy in breast cancer
