NCT ID: NCT04557891 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

Low-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Pulsation (LIFUP) for the Treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

Start date: July 26, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

There are few treatment options available for patients once they have failed standard psychopharmacological therapy for generalized anxiety disorder. Existing brain stimulation methods such as rTMS fail to target deep brain structures associated with anxiety disorders; structures such as the amygdala. In this double-blind sham-controlled clinical trial, the investigators propose to establish baseline severity of anxiety in 48 patients, then deliver eight treatments over four sessions of focused ultrasound stimulation to the amygdala. Anxiety severity will be assessed using standard psychometric scales after each session, and at follow-ups.

Study type: Interventional

Endoscopy procedure is a frequently used method in the evaluation of the gastrointestinal system. Upper gastrointestinal system endoscopy can be performed with and without sedation. Study on the Ability of Virtual Reality Glasses in Anxiety and Pain Reduction in 50 Women Undergoing Amniocentesis or Feticide

Start date: September 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Both amniocenteses and especially feticide are procedures that incorporate both anxiety and pain. As anxiety and pain can be reduced when using a distraction, The investigators speculate that the use of virtual reality glasses during these procedures will elevate both anxiety and pain. The investigators will examine this hypothesis by comparing two groups of participants who undergo amniocentesis or feticide, one group will undergo the procedure while using virtual reality glasses and the other without the use of the glasses.

Anxiety Self-management Intervention for Pulmonary Hypertension

Start date: August 5, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a disorder of high blood pressure that impacts the heart and lungs. Approximately, 50% of individuals with PH experience anxiety or panic disorders. Despite the prevalence and impact of anxiety in PH; there are no widely available and/or disease specific pathways, thus highlighting an unmet need in this population. This project aims to develop and pilot, using randomised control trial methodology, a self-management intervention for individuals with PH based on principles of CBT.
