The Effect of Mirror Therapy With Virtual Reality Application on Motor-Sense Acquisition and Quality of Live in Home Care of Stroke Patients

Start date: December 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

: Aim: Stroke is increasing day by day in our country as in the world. Early rehabilitation after stroke accelerates motor-sensory gains of individuals. This also increases the quality of life. Although there are studies on post-stroke rehabilitation in our country, rehabilitation applications with virtual reality application are very limited. For this reason, the research was carried out to determine the effect of home therapy with virtual reality application on motor-sensory gains and quality of life after stroke. Material and method: The research was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study. The universe of the research; Between December 2021 and May 2022, individuals who met the criteria for inclusion in the study who applied for home care to Erzurum Atatürk University Health Application and Research Center Physical Therapy Unit with the diagnosis of loss of movement in the upper extremity after stroke were formed. The sample size for the research was determined by power analysis. In the power analysis, it was determined that a total of 52 people should be reached in order to reach the 95% confidence level at the 0.05 significance level and 80% power at the p<0.05 significance level. Considering that there may be data losses in the study, it was decided to reach 60 people, 15% more than the sample. "Descriptive Feature Form", "Brunnstrom Staging" and "SF-36 Quality of Life Scale" were used to collect data.In the analysis of data; percentile distribution, chi-square, Fisher-Freeman- Halton Exact test, t-test in independent groups, Repeated Measures ANOVA Test, Friedman Test, One Way ANOVA test, Kruskall Wallis test, and post hoc analyzes (Bonferroni, Games Howell, Dunn) were used.

NCT ID: NCT04627558 Completed - Balance; Distorted Clinical Trials

Validity Reliability of The Dubousset Functional Test in Stroke Patients

Start date: November 6, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Increased muscle tone, decreased normal range of motion, and functional impairments may result in decreased load on the affected limb, deviations in gait patterns, balance and coordination disorders in individuals with stroke. In the literature, there are many scales that evaluate balance and functional performance in stroke. However there is no validity and reliability study of Dubousset Function Test developed to evaluate balance and functional performance of stroke. For this reason, the aim of study is to examine the validity and reliability of Dubousset Function Test in stroke patients.

NCT ID: NCT04611893 Recruiting - Ischemic Stroke Clinical Trials

Monitoring of NOAC Therapy: Standardizing Reference Intervals

Start date: November 5, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is aimed to establish reference intervals of NOAC (dabigatran, apixaban and rivaroxaban) in ethnic Chinese patients.

NCT ID: NCT04607070 Recruiting - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Ischemic Strokes While on NOAC - How Compliance Matters

Start date: October 1, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is aimed to depict the epidemiological trend, aetiologies, clinical characteristics, treatment options of IS-NOAC in face of the rapidly increasing NOAC usage. Knowledge on this ischaemic stroke entity will define clinical characteristics, identify preventable causes and inform resource allocation on the evaluation modalities, reperfusion strategies and forecast future burden of IS-NOAC.

NCT ID: NCT04441541 Not yet recruiting - Stroke Syndrome Clinical Trials

Treadmill With Biofeedback on Gait Symmetry After Stroke

Start date: July 1, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to investigate the immediate, accumulated, and maintainable effects of treadmill with biofeedback on gait symmetry in individuals with chronic stroke.

NCT ID: NCT04229914 Completed - Balance; Distorted Clinical Trials

Validity Reliability of 3 Meter Backward Walk Test in Stroke Patients

Start date: January 10, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The 3 m walk-back test is used to assess neuromuscular control, proprioception, protective reflexes, fall risk, and balance. In a study of healthy elderly adults, a 3-m walk-back test showed better diagnostic accuracy compared to the most commonly used measurement methods for falls in the past year. Reliability is extremely important, especially for research and clinical applications. In order to assess the risk of falling, measurement methods need to be reliable and change accurately over time. 3 m walk back test was found to be reliable in healthy elderly individuals. However, there are no studies investigating the validity and reliability of this test in stroke patients.

NCT ID: NCT03975985 Terminated - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

The Effectiveness of Core Stability Exercises

CORE
Start date: January 15, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study assess the effectiveness of core stability exercises performed in subacute phase of stroke. Half of participants will receive conventional physiotherapy, while the other half will receive core stability exercises and core stability exercises plus transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS).

NCT ID: NCT03592563 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

CUHK Brain Health Longitudinal Study

BHS
Start date: July 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The goal of this study is to develop a large longitudinal cohort of individuals diagnosed with or at high risk for brain diseases (both neurological and psychiatric in nature), in order to identify risk factors that contribute to neurological and psychiatric diseases over time. The investigators seek to capture relevant information from medical records, electronically administered questionnaires and follow up phone-based interviews. The investigators expect to eventually have sufficient power from our dataset to examine risk factors for a variety of brain disorders, both individually and in aggregate. Our ultimate goal is to offer scientifically validated ways to preserve and promote brain health by working with our patients' needs and tracking their progress over time.

NCT ID: NCT03039764 Withdrawn - Hemiplegia Clinical Trials

Effects of Virtual Reality Based Rehabilitation in Acute Stroke Patients in an Inpatient Rehab Setting

Start date: April 30, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the effects of virtual reality-based rehabilitation (Neofect Glove) for newly diagnosed cognitively intact adult dominant hemisphere stroke patients with paresis of their hand in supplementation with conventional occupational therapy to assess whether it improves motor function and speed recovery during inpatient rehabilitation versus conventional occupational therapy alone. Also, what impact does this have on quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT03009656 Recruiting - Stroke, Acute Clinical Trials

Assessing Accuracy of Clinical Diagnosis and Lesion Location in Acute Neurological Deficits - How Good Are Neurologists?

HOGAN
Start date: January 10, 2017
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The emergency setting for acute neurological conditions, such as stroke, is peculiar due to time pressure and limited resources for further diagnostics. Clinical skills are essential for swift and accurate bedside diagnosis and thus are the basis for early and correct treatment. This is especially evident in the context of computed tomography being the standard neuroimaging method world-wide with its limitations for detecting smaller infarcts, strokes in the posterior fossa and reduced sensitivity for stroke mimics, such as epileptic seizures or migraine aura. To date, the accuracy of clinical bedside diagnosis of stroke by neurologists verified by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the emergency setting has not been studied in detail. In order to improve clinical diagnosing and future treatment it is essential to quantify the accuracy of clinical diagnosis of stroke in the emergency setting ("how good are neurologists?") and to assesses whether there are any differences between experienced staff neurologists and junior physicians.
