NCT ID: NCT05268146 Enrolling by invitation - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Earlier Elderly People in Urban Areas

Start date: February 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational [Patient Registry]

Social innovation in aging needs to bring new ideas and services to meet new social and welfare needs identified in recent years. In our environment, people ≥60 years old accounted for 20% -24% of the population in 2015, and it is expected to increase to ≥30% by 2050. The objectives of this project are: To characterize the elderly (60 to 74 years) who live independently in urban areas of the province of Tarragona, to actively involve them, through a process of participatory research to generate solutions. To achieve this goal, it is proposed to make a diagnosis of their health status (lifestyles, risk of malnutrition, and sarcopenia), and conduct focus groups including young seniors from urban areas, and stakeholders, to determine their needs, interests, and barriers for pursuing healthy lifestyles. Based on the information obtained in the diagnosis and focus groups, there will be processes for co-creating solutions based on proposed activities or changes in their immediate environment.

NCT ID: NCT05254938 Recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

The Halland Obesity Municipal Effort for Children

Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

A retrospective study to investigate the method called The Halland Obesity Municipal Effort for children. All children participating in the intervention since the start of this specific method will be eligible for inclusion. The aims are to describe participants and the method-specific activities they are participating in, as well as the effect on their health and school grades.

NCT ID: NCT05250700 Recruiting - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Characterisation of Objectively Measured Physical Activity and Self-reported Habitual Exercise

Start date: November 4, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study aims to observe participants' physical activity (PA) using a blinded multisensor physical activity monitor as they go about their typical daily physical activities across a 6-week time frame. Participants will also complete a subjective, self-reported, online form to denote structured activities undertaken.

NCT ID: NCT05243784 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

The MOVI-HIIT Pilot Trial: The Impact of Activity Breaks on Cognitive Function, Adiposity and Fitness in Preschoolers

Start date: January 27, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Pilot study to test the acceptability and feasibility of an intervention aimed to test the effectiveness, in preschool children, of an integrated physical activity intervention in the classroom based on intervallic training (MOVI-HIIT) on improving executive function, body composition and cardiorespiratory fitness.

NCT ID: NCT05241171 Completed - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

The "Step4Life" Randomized Control Trial in Hemodialysis

Start date: January 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Persons with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) have very low physical activity, and among ESKD patients, the level of inactivity is strongly associated with morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of a 12-week intervention coupling use of wearable pedometers (FitBit ®) and feedback coaching to increase physical activity in hemodialysis patients.

NCT ID: NCT05234034 Recruiting - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Intensity of Physical Activity Level During Daily Living: Unravelling Its Relationship With Chronic Musculoskeletal Disorders and Evaluating Underlying Facilitators and Barriers, An Exploratory Survey Study

MSK-SUR
Start date: February 15, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

chronic musculoskeletal disorders (CMDs) are a hugh burden to healthcare wordwide. Physical activity can improve outcomes related with CMDs, however dose response relationships are poorly understood. Therefore, to date it has not been possible to formulate general recommendations on optimal therapeutic quantity of physical activity. Furthermore, a complexity of possible facilitators and barriers has been stated to limit effective improvement of physical activity in therapy and currently applied low to moderate exercise intensities in rehabilitation could be below the required level to achieve optimal therapy outcomes. The primary objective of this study is to get insight on the impact of the intensity of the physical activity level on pain and disability in persons with CMDs. Second, the underlying facilitators and barriers to perform physical activity (at different intensities) during daily living will be evaluated. Third, the impact of the intensity of the physical activity level on the motivation to perform a rehabilitation program will be evaluated.

NCT ID: NCT05231837 Active, not recruiting - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Neighborhood Park Youth Sports Program Fee Waiver and Intensive Family Outreach

PARKS
Start date: February 15, 2022
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate a park-level intervention to increase child moderate/vigorous physical activity (MVPA), and decrease sedentary time among low-income racially/ethnically diverse children ages 6-12 yrs. Neighborhood parks (n=20) from Minneapolis (n=8) and Saint Paul (n=12) park systems will be randomized for a 2-year period to one of two arms: 1) Intensive Park Outreach and Youth Sports Program Fee Waiver (n=10); or 2) Youth Sports Program Fee Waiver Only (n=10). The evaluation cohort will consist of 432 children ages 6-12 yrs who reside in one of the 20 randomized park neighborhoods. Measurements from evaluation cohort-enrolled individual children will be collected at baseline, 6, 12, and 24 months.

NCT ID: NCT05203406 Recruiting - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

The Cardio-Sarcopenia Study

Start date: May 1, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The use of surrogate markers such as body mass index (BMI) as a target outcome of physical activity may not be appropriate in older adults who are at risk of muscle sarcopenia. In the presence of sarcopenia, reductions in body weight may lead to lower BMI values. We have previously found deleterious changes in cardiac structure and function among sarcopenic older adults, raising a possible biological syndrome of 'cardio-sarcopenia'. In this study, we will investigate the impact of physical activity on temporal changes in cardiac and skeletal muscle , and BMI, over six- to twelve month period, on older adults with this syndrome. By targeting the cardio-sarcopenic phenotype as a modifiable risk factor that may be altered by physical activity, the results will provide new knowledge into retarding deleterious consequences of cardiovascular ageing. This new target challenges the paradigm of using BMI as an anthropometric marker in health prevention. If proven, this will dramatically change primary prevention targets among older adults, justifying the use of cardio-sarcopenia as a rational anthropometric target.

NCT ID: NCT05200039 Completed - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

Health Status, Quality of Life and Function in Survivors After Radical Treatment for Prostate Cancer. Part IIB

OPSIIB
Start date: December 21, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The present study is the last part of a larger project investigating the health, quality of life and function of men having received radical treatment for prostate cancer in 2014-2018. In this study, physical function and level of physical activity will be tested and registered in a selection of older men who participated in the foregoing parts of the project. Comparisons will be made to similar data from a population-based cohort, matched on age and education.

NCT ID: NCT05184673 Completed - Physical Activity Clinical Trials

Moderate Aerobic Activity Through Yoga

MAT
Start date: June 8, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The 2018 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (PAGA) recommend 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity for adult (18 years and older) Americans to promote health. PAGA also recommends that older adults (65+) engage in multicomponent and balance exercises weekly as a way to reduce falls and injuries from falls. This recommendation includes yoga, however, the current research and recommendations on using yoga to meet moderate intensity activity guidelines is limited. This study will utilize heart rate monitoring to determine if certain styles of yoga can be used to meet the PAGA.
