Tetanus-diphtheria vaccine administered to pregnant women may cause pain during and after administration. Due to the pain that may occur, the compliance of pregnant women towards the vaccine may be impaired. Therefore, there is a need for methods that are safe for pregnant women to reduce pain. One of the applications used to reduce pain during intramuscular injection is local mechanical vibration application. With the application of vibration, the tactile receptors are stimulated and the pain is localized in a more limited area. One of the methods used to reduce the pain felt during intramuscular injection is the application of shotblocker applied to the injection site. The protrusions on the Shotbloker temporarily suppress the pain thanks to the pressure it exerts on the skin. Thus, the gates to the central nervous system are closed and pain is reduced. Mechanical vibration and shotblocker procedures applied before injection are non-invasive. Being simple and safe, it is one of the appropriate methods that can be preferred by pregnant women to reduce injection pain. Therefore, in our study, it is aimed to examine the effect of local mechanical vibration and shotblocker application on pain and patient satisfaction before tetenosis-diphtheria vaccine in pregnant women.
The goal of this clinical trial is to compare two different pain relief techniques (cooled radiofrequency ablation (CRFA) and hyaluronic acid (HA) injection) for patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA) over a period of 6 months. The main questions it aims to answer are: - the extent of reduction of pain score and the proportion of subjects ("responders") whose knee pain is reduced by at least 50% from baseline up to 6 months after treatment in the two treatment groups. - the safety of the two treatment modalities. Participants will undergo a nerve block test to determine if they would experience pain relief from blocking of nerve signals. Responders will be randomised to receive one of the two treatments for their knee pain. Researchers will compare the pain intensity of CRFA and HA injection groups at baseline, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months and 6 months post-treatment using validated questionnaires.
This research was planned as a randomized controlled experimental study in order to evaluate the effect of virtual reality application on pain and anxiety caused by the procedure during stone crushing process (ESWL) with shock waves.
The main purposes of this study are to (1) measure the effect of CBD on pain symptoms, pain intensity, pain unpleasantness, and skin sensitivity to hot and cold temperature; and (2) measure the effect of CBD on brain electrical activity with electroencephalography (EEG).
Studies indicate that up to 75% of women will experience pain sometime during their pregnancy. Recent recommendations by the FDA recommended that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDS) medications be avoided during pregnancy. This recommendation limits the pain medications available for use during pregnancy. Antidotal evidence suggests that the FDA cleared Soovu pulsed heat device may produce pain relief during pregnancy. This study tests the Soovu device's ability to provide pain relief during pregnancy and up to one month post-partum and may eventually offer a safe nondrug option to treat pregnancy related pain. This is an observational pilot study The primary objective and hypothesis of this study is that the use of the Soovu pain management device will produce a significant reduction of pain when comparing pre versus post treatment pain.
All patients undergoing surgery due to suspected endometriosis in a previously selected 3-month period within the study period (between 12/2022 and 12/24) (each participating center will define the particular 3 months in question) will be asked to participate in this study. Upon inclusion, patients will be asked to fill out questionnaires regarding endometriosis-associated symptoms as well as a detailed patient history. Furthermore, patients will be asked to fill out 2 standardized questionnaires, one regarding quality of life (Endometriosis-Health Profile-30) and one regarding sexual function (Female Sexual Function Index). Six and 12 months after surgery, patients will again be asked to fill out these two standardized questionnaires as well as a questionnaire regarding postsurgical therapy and endometriosis-associated symptoms. The surgeon will be asked to fill out a form regarding the surgical procedure and possible surgical complications. The primary endpoints of this multicenter observational study are to prospectively examine: 1. if the individual symptoms correlate with the individual compartments of the surgical #ENZIAN Endometriosis classification 2. if the surgical intervention has an effect on the quality of life in relation to the individual #ENZIAN compartments.
The aim of this study is to characterize the distribution of pain phenotypes in people with chronic low back pain and to determine the effects of pain phenotypes on pain severity, functional status and quality of life. Participants will be examined to determine the type of pain and questions will be asked to identify the effects.
This randomized blinded trial aims to evaluate the effect of parasternal intercostal and rectus sheath blocks ("anterior blocks for cardiac surgery" or ABC blocks) on postoperative recovery in patients undergoing median sternotomy for cardiac surgery. Subjects will be randomized to receive either local anesthetic (liposomal bupivacaine plus bupivacaine 0.25%) or saline sham block.
In this study, between 15 November 2022 - 15 November 2023, who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 82 patients who are on the 2nd or 3rd day after the surgery and who are hospitalized in the cardiovascular surgery intensive care clinic will be recruited.
