The Hearts in Rhythm Organization (HiRO) is a national network of Canadian researchers/clinicians, working towards a better understanding of the rare genetic causes of sudden cardiac death (SCD). The HiRO Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy registry, biobank and imaging data repository (HiRO-HCM) is a multicenter study that will prospectively enroll patients with HCM as well as those carrying sarcomeric gene variants predisposing to HCM. The objectives of HiRO-HCM are: 1. to better understand the natural history of the disease and identify clinical markers and biomarkers for adverse outcomes; 2. to derive and validate risk prediction models for disease expression, complications and response to therapy; 3. to better define the genetic architecture of sarcomeric and non-sarcomeric HCM.
Respiratory failure occurs when the lung fails to perform one or both of its roles in gas exchange; oxygenation and/or ventilation. Presentations of respiratory failure can be mild requiring supplemental oxygen via nasal cannula to more severe requiring invasive mechanical ventilation as see in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).It is important to provide supportive care through noninvasive respiratory support devices but also to minimize risk associated with those supportive devices such as ventilator induced lung injury (VILI) and/or patient self-inflicted lung injury (P-SILI). Central to risk minimization is decreasing mechanical stress and strain and optimizing transpulmonary pressure or the distending pressure across the lung, minimizing overdistention and collapse. Patient positioning impacts ventilation/perfusion and transpulmonary pressure. Electrical impedance tomography (EIT) is an emerging technology that offers a noninvasive, real-time, radiation free method to assess distribution of ventilation at the bedside. The investigators plan to obtain observational data regarding distribution of ventilation during routine standard of care in the ICU, with special emphasis on postural changes and effects of neuromuscular blockade, to provide insight into ventilation/perfusion matching, lung mechanics in respiratory failure, other pulmonary pathological processes.
iSpecimen aims to create a clinical partner network of hospitals, laboratories, academic institutions, and other healthcare organizations ("institutions") capable of providing researchers and educators ("researchers") with annotated biospecimens for use in biomarker discovery and validation; diagnostic test and instrumentation development and validation; therapeutics development; other medical research including the impact that various specimen collection and handling methods and conditions have on research results; and in education such as researcher or physician training (collectively "research").
This clinical trial evaluates several behavioral interventions for the improvement of physical activity in cancer patients. Childhood and adolescent/young adult cancer survivors have been reported to have poor diet quality and rarely meet recommended physical activity guidelines. This trial aims to see whether a tailored intervention based on self-determination theory may help to improve physical activity and dietary change.
The purpose of this study is to collect data needed to satisfy the European Union (EU) Medical Device Regulation (MDR) clinical post-market surveillance (PMS) and reporting requirements, and to support future regulatory submissions and peer-reviewed publications on device performance and safety.
With so many therapeutic options available (i.e.: biologic therapy, liver directed therapy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy), the purpose of this project is to partner with patients on comparative effectiveness research (CER) to achieve the goal of alleviating undue toxicity, and optimizing effectiveness and sequencing of therapy for neuroendocrine tumors (NET) patients. We will conduct a study of all newly occurring GEP-NET and lung NET cases aged 18 years and older diagnosed between 01/01/2018 through 12/31/2023 across 14 sites participating in the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network (PCORnet), enrolling an average of 215 patients per site over the 3 year study period (~3,000 patients total), allowing up to 60 months of follow-up for medical record outcomes. Participants will complete four online or paper surveys over 18 months; these surveys will focus on patient-reported outcomes, including questions on quality of life, treatment decisions, and experiences with cancer care. Survey data will be linked to participant medical record data to achieve study aims.
The present work proposes to find if a bio-active composite in the hemolymph or plasma of the freshwater bivalve Anodonta cygnea is able to offer immunity and specificity for meliorating the major symptoms in human SARS and COVID-19 lineage infection. The Methodology concerns in silico procedures using organic fluids from 54 bivalves (in very specific conditions) to evaluate their therapeutic effects in 6 voluntary SARS and COVID-19 infected persons with an integrative diagnosis by a computational Mora®Nova apparatus to access the basal and experimental human physiological parameters.
Recovery for intensive care survivors is limited by ongoing problems with walking, strength, fatigue, mental distress and cognitive morbidity known as 'Post Intensive Care Syndrome'. There has been increasing interest in ways that clinicians can support patients in their post ICU recovery. The investigators are undertaking a co design approach to informing the design of a recovery pathway for patients who have been admitted to the intensive care to support them in their return to home, family and working responsibilities.
The goal of this clinical study is to learn more about the long-term safety, effectiveness and prolonged action of Kite study drugs, axicabtagene ciloleucel, brexucabtagene autoleucel, KITE-222, KITE-363, KITE-439, KITE-585, and KITE-718, in participants of Kite-sponsored interventional studies.
