The Effect of Foot Reflexology on Patients Undergoing Appendectomy Surgery

Pain is an unpleasant experience that can negatively affect all aspects of the patients life and lead to a decrease in quality of life. Pain can also be encountered as a reason for a surgical intervention. For this reason, it has become one of the most common problems experienced by patients in the postoperative period. Pain management is a universal requirement in health care and is of great importance for patients. If the pain is not managed well in the postoperative period, it may cause some complications in the patient. If pain is controlled, early discharge of the patient, lower healthcare costs and increased patient satisfaction are achieved. In terms of providing effective pain control, it is provided by nurses, who are health professionals, to spend more time with the patient, to lead the patient in pain management and to analyze the results. The aim of the thesis study is to evaluate the effect of foot reflexology on pain intensity, sleep quality and bowel functions in patients who have undergone appendectomy surgery.

A sample of 56 nurses who agreed to participate in the study was selected by the nurses themselves as the experimental (n = 28) and control group (n = 28). The data collection tools will be applied before the intervention and after the intervention.

The Effect of Web-based Education on Psychomotor Skills Education in Nursing

Objective: This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of web-based education on psychomotor skills teaching and information levels in nursing students. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted as a randomized controlled clinical trial. The universe of the research consisted of first-year students of the nursing department of a university. The sample of the study consisted of 90 students, experimental and control group. At the beginning of the study, the drug administration course was explained theoretically to all students. Psychomotor skill teaching was demonstrated to both groups in the laboratory with demonstration technique. Then, pre-test data were collected. Students in the experimental group were given a link to the web page where they could watch the clinical knowledge and skills teaching video and a user profile was created. The students had the opportunity to watch and repeat the training videos and lecture notes as much as they wanted for two weeks. In the last stage, the knowledge and skill level of both groups was measured again and post-test data were collected. In order to collect data, intravenous-intramuscular injection skill checklists and drug administration knowledge tests created by the researchers were used.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), by 2021 cardiovascular diseases (CVD) will be a public health problem, among them heart failure (HF), since this is a chronic disease, patients should be competent in their care. Despite the above, according to research conducted in Colombia, 59.7% of people with chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) have a level of care competence considered not optimal; patients report not having sufficient knowledge of the disease or experience feelings of lack of tools for the management of symptoms and the challenges of post-hospitalization. The objective of the research is to determine the effect of the PLAN CUIDARTE on the caregiving competence of people with HF Methodology: Pre-posttest randomized clinical trial, with blinding of the participants, where the intervention "PLAN CUIDARTE" is applied and the initial and subsequent caregiving competence is evaluated in the comparison group and in the intervention group for pretest - posttest and between-group comparisons.

The Effect of Kinesio Taping and Manual Lymph Drainage on Pregnant Women With Restless Legs Syndrome

Restless Leg Syndrome, a progressive and recurrent chronic sensorimotor disorder that creates an irresistible urge to move the legs and a feeling of discomfort, is seen in 15.4-26.0% of pregnant women in our country. Restless Leg Syndrome has negative effects on sleep, mood, cognitive health, daily activities and behavior in pregnant women; It can also cause preeclampsia, difficult labor, and cesarean delivery. Therefore, it is important for pregnant women with Restless Leg Syndrome to be treated appropriately. It is recommended that pregnant women use non-pharmacological treatments as they are not risky for fetal health. Kinesio taping and manual lymphatic drainage methods are used non-pharmacologically to support venous-lymphatic drainage and manage pain. These methods are economical, reliable and easy to apply. However, no study has been found in which Kinesio taping or manual lymphatic drainage was applied to a patient group with Restless Leg Syndrome during or outside pregnancy. The aim of this project is to determine the effect of Kinesio taping and manual lymphatic drainage on Restless Legs Syndrome severity, sleep quality and psychological well-being in pregnant women with Restless Legs Syndrome.

Effect of Virtual Reality on Pain, Comfort and Satisfaction

The goal of this clinical trial is to examine the effect of virtual reality application on pain management, comfort, and care satisfaction in patients undergoing thyroidectomy-parathyroidectomy. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Does the use of virtual reality reduce the level of postoperative pain in patients undergoing thyroid and parathyroid surgery? 2. Does the use of virtual reality increase the postoperative comfort level in patients undergoing thyroid and parathyroid surgery? 3. Does the use of virtual reality increase the level of satisfaction after surgery in patients undergoing thyroid and parathyroid surgery? Participants in the experimental group watched a virtual reality video containing nature and sea images and music playing in the background for 15 minutes. Participants in the control group received routine clinical care after thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy. The pain levels of the patients in the experimental group were lower, and the comfort level was higher than in the control group. There was no difference between the groups in terms of satisfaction level with nursing care.

The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a web-based nursing intervention aimed at increasing physical activity in people aged 65 years and older with coronary heart disease. This study aims to answer the following questions: 1. What are the needs of older adults living with coronary heart disease in terms of a web-based nursing intervention to help them increase their level of physical activity? 2. What is the acceptability (content, structure, usefulness) and feasibility (recruitment, retention, adherence, fidelity) of a web-based nursing intervention to support older adults living with coronary heart disease as they increase their level of physical activity? 3. What are the preliminary effects of the web-based nursing intervention on the physical activity level and quality of life of older adults living with coronary heart disease? 4. What are the qualitative impacts of the web-based nursing intervention as perceived by older adults on their physical activity level, quality of life, motivation, knowledge and self-efficacy? 5. How can the preliminary effects of a web-based nursing intervention, developed in response to the needs of older adults living with coronary heart disease, be illustrated by its impacts as perceived by older adults post-intervention? A web-based nursing intervention was developed based on the needs of seniors living with coronary heart disease. 30 older adults living with heart disease will take part in the 8-week intervention. The effects of the intervention will be evaluated on the physical activity level, quality of life, knowledge, motivation and self-efficacy of older adults.
