Studies of Neuregulin/ERBB Signaling in Human Heart

Start date: June 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study examines the role of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor family and the EGF family of ligands in the regulation of non-myocytes isolated from the human heart.

NCT ID: NCT02818959 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

First in Man Study of the JenaValve TAVI Plus System Transfemoral

CP-0001
Start date: December 2013
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The objective of this study is to evaluate feasibility, safety and effectiveness of the first generation transfemoral JenaValve Pericardial TAVR System (formerly named JenaValve TAVI Plus System- Transfemoral) in an elderly patient population with severe aortic stenosis who are at high risk for surgical aortic valve replacement.

NCT ID: NCT02818127 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Coronary Artery Disease

Assessment Of Total Coronary Circulation Time Using TIMI Frame Count Method (TCCT-TIMI)

TCCT-TIMI
Start date: July 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The aim of this study is to evaluate and describe the total coronary circulation time (TCCT) by using TIMI frame count method in patients performed coronary angiography. TCCT is described as an angiographic index which is the sum of the frame count of coronary artery and venous system. This study also evaluates the relationship between the diseases in arterial system such as coronary artery ectasia, coronary slow flow, coronary artery disease and coronary venous pathologies.

NCT ID: NCT02817360 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Diabetes Mellitus, Type 2

NT-proBNP Selected Prevention of Cardiac Events in Diabetic Patients

Start date: February 2016
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Purpose and rationale The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of high dose Renin-Angiotensin System (RAS)-antagonists and beta-blocker treatment for the primary prevention of cardiac events in a population of patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with no evidence of a preexisting cardiac disease. An additional aim is to demonstrate an interaction between concentrations of amino-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP as a surrogate of imminent cardiac risk) and treatment effects and the economic impact of the intervention overall and in the biomarker stratified subgroups. Primary objective Superiority of high dose treatment with RAS-antagonists and beta-blockers compared to conventional therapy regarding the reduction of unplanned hospitalization or death due to a cardiac event in T2DM patients with a NT-proBNP > 125pg/ml. There is an additional eye-substudy for Viennese sites only. The purpose of this sub-study is to evaluate the effect of high dose RAS-antagonists and beta blocker treatment on early subclinical signs of diabetic micro-angiopathy and neuropathy. An additional aim will be the evaluation of the possible impact of the cardiovascular risk factor NT-proBNP on the onset and progression of diabetic retinopathy.

NCT ID: NCT02814539 Completed - Clinical trials for Congenital Heart Disease

Brain Function in Children With Congenital Heart Disease (CHD)

Start date: March 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The purpose of the study is to determine whether the neurodevelopmental outcome and in particular executive functions in 9 to 14 year old school children with congenital heart disease who underwent cardiopulmonary bypass surgery during their first three months of life is impaired in comparison to healthy children at same age. Executive functions are higher order cognitive functions and critical for school success.

NCT ID: NCT02813668 Completed - Obesity Clinical Trials

Worksite Lifestyle Program for Reducing Diabetes and Cardiovascular Risk in India

Start date: May 2, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will test the implementation, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and acceptability of a worksite lifestyle improvement program that includes lifestyle education classes led by trained individuals from the worksite and improvements in the worksite environment that will make it easier for employees at risk for diabetes or with unmedicated diabetes to lose weight, exercise more, and eat a healthier diet. A total of 2000 participants across 10 worksites in South, Central, and East India will be involved in this study.

NCT ID: NCT02813473 Completed - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

SYNTAX III REVOLUTION Trial: A Randomized Study Investigating the Use of CT Scan and Angiography of the Heart to Help the Doctors Decide Which Method is the Best to Improve Blood Supply to the Heart in Patients With Complex Coronary Artery Disease

SYNTAX III
Start date: June 27, 2016
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The SYNTAX III Revolution trial is a randomized diagnostic research study that investigates the use of CT scan and angiogram of the heart to help doctors decide which method is the best to improve blood supply to the heart in patients with complex coronary artery disease. Each patient will undergo an angiogram and CT scan per standard of care. The randomization strategy in this study is not between patients but between two teams of doctors, the so-called "Heart Teams", will be randomized: in the first round, team 1 assesses the angiogram, and team 2 assesses the CT scan. Then they make a decision about which treatment would be the best to treat complex coronary artery disease. In the second round, both teams see the imaging method that they did not see in the first round, and make the decision again. The final decision on the clinical treatment strategy is at the sole discretion of the Heart Team and there are no criteria described in SYNTAXIII Revolution protocol leading influencing this final decision. Hypothesis: Determination of the best treatment strategy for coronary artery disease based on a CT scan will result in similar decisions as based on invasive coronary angiography.

NCT ID: NCT02812355 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Ischemic Heart Disease

Randomized Anticoagulation Trial in Opcab (RATIO)

RATIO
Start date: January 2017
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

The RATIO Study is a multicenter, nationwide, randomized, controlled, single blinded, unfunded trial of n. 900 patients undergoing multivessel OPCAB (≥2 grafts). This study is designed to test in patients undergoing off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery the hypothesis that full (high dose, 300 U/kg) and half (low dose,150 U/kg) heparinization are not different in terms of thrombotic complications and major perioperative bleeding events (null hypothesis).

NCT ID: NCT02809664 Recruiting - Heart Diseases Clinical Trials

Start date: October 14, 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Our goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of laying uncomplicated ultrasound-guided central subclavian catheter by supraclavicular route in the newborn.

NCT ID: NCT02809040 Active, not recruiting - Hypertension Clinical Trials

E_Stethoscope: Portable Digital Auscultation Study on Hypertensive/Hypertensive Heart Disease Patients

Start date: February 2015
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Hypertensive heart disease (HHD) is a heart condition that is caused by chronic exposure to high blood pressure. In patients with HHD, abnormalities in the way heart muscle relaxes and how heart chambers passively fill with blood (diastolic dysfunction) can occur that may be detected on echocardiography (echo), which is a standard clinical method to examine heart structure and function using reflected sound waves. Investigators propose to develop a digital auscultation system or electronic stethoscope based on wireless sensor node technique. Investigators hypothesize that the heart sounds measurements detected by electronic stethoscope can be used to detect heart diastolic dysfunction in HHD .
