Filter by:Our study aims to assess the efficacy of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy on psychotic severity among Inpatients with primary psychosis: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
The goal of this randomized controlled trial is to test the effectiveness of an emotion regulation intervention called Jóvenes Capibara in a Venezuelan migrant and internally displaced population sample of youth between the ages of 18 through 30 delivered within a 10-day boot-camp entrepreneurship program. The main questions it aims to answer are: (a) Is Jóvenes Capibara feasible and acceptable among IDP and Venezuelan migrant youth aged 18-30 in Colombia?; (b) Is delivery of Jóvenes Capibara within entrepreneurship training feasible and acceptable among facilitators?; (c) Is Jóvenes Capibara associated with improved mental health, daily functioning, and labor market outcomes in Colombian and Venezuelan youth who receive the YRI compared with control youth? Participants will receive a 10-day intervention, which consists of an entrepreneurship program, plus Jóvenes Capibara, an intervention that aims to improve emotion regulation and mental health symptoms among youth impacted by violence. Measures will be taken at baseline, post-intervention, and at 6-month post-intervention follow-up. The comparison group will receive the intervention one year after youth in the experimental condition. The researchers will compare the experimental group and the waitlist control group to determine the effects of Jóvenes Capibara on mental health, daily functioning, and labor market outcomes.
The goal of this randomized wait-list clinical trial is to test in patient facing Mexican healthcare providers the efficacy of the Integrated Toolbox for Healthcare Providers (ISTH) on psychological functioning, well-being, occupational performance, and peripheral inflammation. The main questions this study aims to answer are: - Does assignment to the ISTH predict reduced psychological distress and increased well-being? - Does assignment to the ISTH predict improved occupational outcomes and social-emotional competencies? Participants will be randomly assigned to either the ISTH, a 12-week synchronous and app-based well-being training or to a wait-list control condition and complete assessments 8 times over the nine-month study period. Researchers will compare the ISTH and the wait-list control group across time to evaluate ISTH impacts.
In Sierra Leone, poverty and challenges with family functioning can lead to family separation, and children may go to live on the street or enter residential care institutions/orphanages. Helping Children Worldwide (HCW), a non-profit organization with over 20 years of experience in Sierra Leone, has developed a two-part Family Strengthening Program delivered by their program partners in Sierra Leone, the Child Reintegration Centre, to improve families financial literacy and attachment between caregivers and children, with the ultimate goal of preventing family separation. The hypothesis of this study is that the Family Strengthening Program program is effective at (1) changing parenting behaviors, (2) improving emotional regulation, (3) improving caregiver-child attachment, and (4) improving financial literacy in dyads consisting of children ages 9-13 and their caregivers.
This study tests the impact of mindfulness vs. relaxation training on psychological threat and challenge, emotions/emotion regulation, motivation/engagement, and performance among undergraduates enrolled in introductory physics courses. Data used to compare groups will be collected from a variety of sources, including self-report surveys, experience sampling and daily diary assessments, physics learning activities, and academic records.
Millions of U.S. parents have experienced trauma, putting them at risk for maladaptive parenting practices, which then confer vulnerabilities to their children. This study aims to enhance understanding of how parental emotional dysregulation associated with traumatic stress impedes effective parenting. The study employs neurophysiological methods (electroencephalogram; EEG) to address some of the challenges inherent in the study of emotion (particularly in trauma-exposed individuals) and to identify potential biomarkers of traumatic stress and response to intervention.
The overall objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of the "Doing What Matters in Times of Stress Guided Self-Help" handbook along with lay helper session on managing stress and emotion on mental distress and well-being. If successful, the study will assess its impact on business performance among women entrepreneurs in Ethiopia.
Emotional regulation (ER) appears today as a fundamental skill for the adaptation of an individual to his environment. Indeed, functional and efficient ER is crucial for mental well-being, but also for physical health, for the maintenance of satisfying social relationships , and for work performance. Many research studies have shown that difficulties with ER are central to the development of many mental disorders. Consequently, this skill can be the target of psychological interventions , the effectiveness of which can be tested as well as the mechanisms underlying that effectiveness. Various "mechanisms of effectiveness" have been advanced in the literature. Of these, this project will specifically test cognitive flexibility and feelings of self-efficacy. Although a growing number of interventions attempt to target emotional regulation, few are evaluated in subclinical populations and few are protocolized. Similarly, there is little research evaluating the effectiveness processes of these interventions. To date, two types of interventions show particular promise: emotion competence based interventions and compassion focused therapy. This research will therefore be based on the evaluation of two interventions in a randomized controlled trial: Emotion Competence Training Program and Compassion Focused Program that will take place over 12 two-hour sessions in a subclinical and clinical population.
