One way to empower a community, in epidemic control issues, is to know the first-hand screening tools. There are no evaluations of these home-use tools from the perspective of patient and citizen empowerment and participation. The main objective of this study is to analyze whether a self-tracking and self-tracing tool, developed in a participatory way, increases the risk identification of the disease and the empowerment in terms of risk management of transmission by the participants.
Many people who have had COVID 19 continue to experience symptoms long after they have recovered from the acute infection. This study will examine the clinical symptoms of people with "Long COVID" and measure various markers of inflammation in their blood.
Aim of this observational study is to improve our understanding of the impact of Covid-19 on health. By an online questionnaire at least 60.000 people are invited by email to participate. Invited are those people who tested for Covid-19 at the Public Health Service South Limburg since June 2020. Participants are followed over time (open cohort), to study impact on health, that is physical health, mental health, and social health (longcovid and other conseauences). Also, the socioeconomic impact is studied, as on work and education. And the consequences for health-care consumption; it also includes aspects as coping, stigma and lifestyle. All focused to understand the impact of Covid-19, in relation to health, and to gain information for promoting positive health and improving prevention and care.
Periodontal disease is a chronic condition affecting the teeth and surrounding support structures, characterized by tooth loss and alveolar bone loss. Sanative therapy (ST) is the gold standard non-surgical treatment for periodontal disease and involves mechanically removing the subgingival bacteria from the periodontal pockets. Regular periodontal maintenance appointments are needed to maintain periodontal health after ST. Moreover, the periodontal health of individuals not requiring ST is also dependent on regular hygiene appointments. Due to Ontario's March 2020 COVID-19-related clinic closure for approximately 3 months along with a reduced numbers of appointments available due to guidelines of professional bodies and public health beyond this period of time, many appointments were considerably delayed or cancelled. The effects of this disruption to periodontal health in male and female patients who have undergone ST and continue with maintenance appointments or who attend for regular hygiene appointments have not yet been investigated.
This project capitalizes on a natural experiment imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic in conjunction with an extensive set of cognitive, emotional, biological, and neuroimaging variables already collected at multiple time points in older adults participating in a clinical trial of exercise and mindfulness. This project will elucidate the effects of stress on cognitive function and emotional health in later life, including biological measures of Alzheimer Disease risk, stress, and aging, with the ultimate goal of discovering how to mitigate these effects, among older adults who have made and maintained a lifestyle change.
The risk for the development of complications from COVID-19 occurs mainly in patients over 65 years of age, with obesity, arterial hypertension, chronic lung diseases and immunosuppression states. Since the persistence of radiological imaging correlates with physiological deterioration, these patients are likely to be at increased risk of parenchymal lung disease. It is known that the administration of Ozone, in any of the three phases of COVID-19 infection, is useful in the management of acute disease, both for its viricidal and anti-inflammatory activity, however, in the convalescence stage when the persistence of sequelae that can severely affect the quality of life of patients is identified.
vaccines for covid-19 are gold strategy and great achievement at this century for protection against complications of covid-19 , development of many vaccines with different technology represent a big challenge for this disease so the world live bad days and the vaccines save world to see the light once again , mRNA based vaccines have a new technology which designed before for cancer therapy, this technology is very effective , producible and fast for future disease targets but these vaccine must contain excipients for preservation of this technology mRNA so we now study these side effects of excipients and we suspect that polyethylene glycol as excipients have big role at hypoglycemic effects with antidiabetic medications like metformin and insulin especially at children and older age
Elderly people who have multiple health problems are at higher risk of illness from viral respiratory infections, such as influenza (the flu) and COVID-19. This is especially true for residents in long-term care because the usual methods of infection control (handwashing, mask-wearing, and distancing) are difficult to enforce due to the memory problems of many residents and the frequently shared common spaces. It can also be difficult to prevent the spread of viral infections within long-term care because many residents are unable to tell their caregivers when they are feeling ill. Also, some elderly people do not show typical symptoms of infection (like fever), instead they may suddenly become confused or weak. This study will test if a safe form of ultraviolet light (far-UVC) can be effective as an extra method of disinfection (in addition to usual manual cleaning) against airborne and surface viruses that can cause respiratory infections.
The present work proposes to find if a bio-active composite in the hemolymph or plasma of the freshwater bivalve Anodonta cygnea is able to offer immunity and specificity for meliorating the major symptoms in human SARS and COVID-19 lineage infection. The Methodology concerns in silico procedures using organic fluids from 54 bivalves (in very specific conditions) to evaluate their therapeutic effects in 6 voluntary SARS and COVID-19 infected persons with an integrative diagnosis by a computational Mora®Nova apparatus to access the basal and experimental human physiological parameters.
