NCT ID: NCT05894798 Recruiting - Acupuncture Clinical Trials

Acupuncture in Infantile Colic - A Randomised Trial.

Start date: August 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

About 10 per cent of all new born babies in Sweden have infant colic. This may affect the the whole family and the early connection between the baby and the parents. Although, there are no effective and safe treatment. Acupuncture is an environmental friendly method that affects pain, anxiety, sleep and the function of gastrointestinal system. Several studies have shown various results, and there are a need for high-qualitative randomised controlled trials to investigate the proposed effect further. 128 children will be randomised into two groups; acupuncture at LI4 or no acupuncture, parents will be blinded. Statistical calculations will be performed on the content of the diaries (bowel movement frequency, crying time, feeding). Registration of crying/crying in connection with acupuncture treatment, i.e. when the needle touches the skin or later until the needle is removed and 30 seconds after.

NCT ID: NCT05894746 Recruiting - Diabetes Clinical Trials

Gfree - For Improved Blood Sugar and Reduced Inflammation.

Start date: May 4, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to reduce inflammation and improve glycemic control in healthy volunteers, parents, as well as children, adolescents and adults with or without diabetes. The main questions it aims to answer are: • does a reduction wheat gluten improve glycemic control and/or inflammatory biomarkers • does a reduction in certain amino acids (which is most common in wheat gluten) improve glycemic control and/or inflammatory biomarkers • can we identify individuals with an inflammatory response, which leads to poor glycemic control. Participants will eat gluten-free products as well as similar products containing gluten. They will also eat gluten together with probiotics to see if an effect of gluten can be reduced. Researchers will compare everyone with themselves (cross-over design) and if possible individuals with and without diabetes.

NCT ID: NCT05894616 Recruiting - Long COVID Clinical Trials

Home Monitoring and Molecular Phenotyping of Patients With Post-COVID With Focus on Lung Involvement

HemCOV
Start date: November 21, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Post-acute COVID syndrome (PACS) /post-acute sequale of COVID-19 (PASC) / post-COVID is a novel clinical syndrome with unknown biological mechanisms, and to date no standard-of-care, routines for follow-up, or evidence-based treatments have been established. In this project, we will employ a systems medicine approach to identify pathways and networks of genes, proteins and metabolites that are critical in disease onset and progression, towards the goal of understanding specific mechanisms in the etiology of PASC. The objective of the project is to perform clinical and molecular characterization and sub-phenotyping of patients with PASC, (a.k.a. PACS, or post-COVID), into mechanistically relevant groups, with focus on sex differences in patients with lung involvement. Molecular pathways involved in disease etiology will be identified by correlating rigorous clinical phenotyping and longitudinal eHealth data (home-monitoring via App, home spirometer etc), with multi-molecular level omics profiling of samples collected from the lung, integrated with our systems medicine framework. Aim I involves longitudinal home-monitoring at baseline to investigate fluctuations in general wellbeing, and causes thereof, in PASC patients with lung involvement compared to healthy controls. In Aim II, a set of omics technologies will be employed to provide in-depth molecular characterization of samples from the lung, exhaled particles (PExA), blood and urine. In depth clinical characterizations including photon-counting CT will be performed. In Aim III, integrative statistical- and network modeling approaches will be utilized to: i) identify molecularly distinct sub-groups of obstructive lung diseases based on multi-molecular level network-integration, and ii) identify individual mediators and molecular pathways related to clinical phenotype including longitudinal home-monitoring data, prognosis, diagnosis, and disease etiology of the identified sub-groups.

NCT ID: NCT05893524 Recruiting - Dementia Clinical Trials

Uppsala-Dalarna Dementia and Gait Project

UDDGait™
Start date: April 9, 2015
Phase:
Study type: Observational

UDDGait™ is a multidisciplinary research project with the overreaching goal of providing an aid for early identification of cognitive impairment and risk of dementia development, thereby providing a basis for adequate symptom relieving and health promoting interventions. A new concept is investigated for this purpose: a "dual-task-test", which implies the combination of a well-established mobility test (Timed Up-and-Go, TUG) with a simultaneous verbal task (i.e. TUG dual-task, TUGdt). This type of test has been judged as a potential aid for early identification of dementia disease. More research is needed to further examine the test's validity, reliability and predictive capacity. The overall aim is to investigate if TUGdt is useful as an aid for prediction of dementia disease. To ensure the results, the aim is also to evaluate the test's measurement properties and to generate normative reference values of healthy control persons.

NCT ID: NCT05892900 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Borderline Personality Disorder

Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) for Borderline Personality Disorder (tVNS-BPD)

tVNS-BPD
Start date: March 24, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The goal of this clinical trial is to test the efficacy of transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation (tVNS) in borderline personality disorder. The main question it aims to answer is: • Is tVNS effective in acutely reducing emotional reactivity in borderline personality disorder? Participants will be randomized to a single session of tVNS or sham-tVNS while going through an affect-inducing procedure. It will consist of the presentation of one neutral and three negative affect-inducing videos in sequence, each of which is followed by a post-induction period during which participants will rate the quality and intensity of their current self-reported emotions. Researchers will compare the tVNS and sham tVNS groups to see if there is a difference in the intensity of the self-reported emotions between the groups.

NCT ID: NCT05891496 Active, not recruiting - Alzheimers Disease Clinical Trials

A Research Study Looking at the Effect of Semaglutide on the Immune System and Other Biological Processes in People With Alzheimer's Disease

Start date: June 20, 2023
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The study is being conducted to understand how the medicine, semaglutide, affects the immune system and other biological processes in people with Alzheimer's disease. Semaglutide is a medicine that doctors can prescribe in some countries for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and excess body weight. This study will help us understand whether semaglutide can also be used for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The study will last for about 77 weeks. In the first 12 weeks of treatment, participants will either get semaglutide (active medicine) or placebo (inactive dummy medicine). Which treatment participants get is decided by chance. In the following 52 weeks of treatment, all participants taking part in the study will get semaglutide. Participants must have a study partner, who is willing to take part in the study. Participants will get study medicine in a pen injector. The study partner will need to inject the study medicine into the skin of participant's stomach, thigh or upper arm once every week.

NCT ID: NCT05889936 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

A Transdiagnostic Intervention for Health-related Habits (LEV)

Start date: January 25, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Research problem and specific questions: Health-related habits influences mental and physical health. Still, screening and treatment of health-related habits, which can help to remedy health problems, is not done at all or very superficially. National guidelines emphasize the importance of prioritizing health-related habits, but there is a lack of implemented models. To solve this, the investigators have developed a transdiagnostic, interprofessional material intended for several care settings. Study 1: Is LEV a feasible intervention in different healthcare contexts? Study 2: A functional roadmap to healthier habits: A thematic analysis of themes form the functional analysis of unhealthy and healthy lifestyle behavior in adults with disabilities This study will use data from study 1.
