The objective is to evaluate whether once weekly subcutaneous (SC) injection of idrabiotaparinux is at least as efficient to prevent clots in brain and in the other organs than oral international normalized ratio (INR) adjusted-dose warfarin in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).
The primary objective is to estimate global response rate. Clinical, microbiological and global response rates and its 95% confidence intervals will be computed. No hypotheses will be tested.
The purpose of this trial is to compare the effectiveness, safety and tolerability of TMC278 given at a dose of 25 mg once daily versus efavirenz (EFV) at a dose of 600 mg once daily, when combined with a background regimen containing 2 nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitors ( investigator choice of ABC/3TC, TDF/FTC or AZT/3TC) in HIV-1 infected patients who have not yet taken any anti-HIV drugs. The following evaluations will be done: antiviral activity, immunologic changes, and viral geno-/phenotype evolution, relationship of Pharmacokinetics (PK) and PK/Pharmacodynamics and Medical resource utilization and treatment adherence.
This study will compare pregabalin and levetiracetam in patients with partial seizures. It will also evaluate the safety and tolerability of pregabalin and levetiracetam in these patients.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of oral extended-release (ER) paliperidone compared with placebo in the prevention of the recurrence of mood symptoms in patients with Bipolar I Disorder who initially respond to treatment of an acute manic or mixed episode with paliperidone ER. Olanzapine was included as an active control arm, although the study is not designed to allow for a direct comparison of olanzapine with paliperidone.
This 2-arm study was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab (Avastin) in combination with rituximab (MabThera) and CHOP (cyclophosphamide, hydroxydaunorubicin [doxorubicin], Oncovin [vincristine], prednisone) chemotherapy (R-CHOP) versus rituximab plus CHOP chemotherapy (R-CHOP) in previously untreated patients with CD20-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Patients were randomized to receive 8 cycles of treatment with R-CHOP plus bevacizumab or R-CHOP plus placebo. Treatment with bevacizumab/placebo and R-CHOP was given either on a 2-week or 3-week schedule and bevacizumab was given at a weekly average dose of 5 mg/kg (10 mg/kg for 2-week cycles and 15 mg/kg for 3-week cycles).
This study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of ocrelizumab, compared with placebo, in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who have an inadequate response to at least one anti-TNF-alpha therapy. Patients will be randomized to receive placebo, 200mg of intravenous ocrelizumab, or 500mg of i.v. ocrelizumab on days 1 and 15. A repeat course of i.v. treatment will be administered at weeks 24 and 26. All patients will receive stable doses of either concomitant methotrexate (7.5-25mg/week) or leflunomide (10-20mg po daily) and may receive additional DMARDs. The treatment period is planned for 48 weeks (until primary analysis) and then participants will enter the open label phase until the drug is commercialized. Target sample size is 1000.
This 2 arm study will assess the efficacy and safety of intravenous Herceptin with or without a taxane for the first line treatment of metastatic breast cancer in women who have relapsed at least 12 months after a minimum of 10 months of (neo)adjuvant treatment with Herceptin for HER2-positive early breast cancer.Patients will receive either Herceptin monotherapy (loading dose of 4mg/kg iv, followed by weekly doses of 2mg/kg iv, or 8mg/kg loading dose followed by 3-weekly doses of 6mg/kg)or Herceptin + a taxane (docetaxel 100mg/m2 iv every 3 weeks, or paclitaxel 175mg/m2 iv every 3 weeks or 75mg/m2 every week). The anticipated time on study treatment is until disease progression, and the target sample size is <100 individuals.
