Evidence of the clinical diagnostic accuracy and operational characteristics of the Bioneer IRONqPCR ™ RFIA Kit is needed to comprehensively evaluate Bioneer RFIA validity and inform global and national policy decision-making. The rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment of M/XDR-TB is essential to prevent significant morbidity, mortality and further transmission of disease. The FQ are key components of the new bedaquiline-containing 6-9 month regimen, and so it is necessary to rule-out resistance to these compounds prior to treating patients with the shorter regimen. Currently there are no WHO endorsed tests that can identify resistance to both first and second-line drugs in one reaction.
The study seeks to define the expected blood levels of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medications (tenofovir) for cisgender women taking directly observed oral PrEP therapy to understand the frequency of PrEP dosing associated with HIV protection in cisgender women. Cisgender women will be randomly assigned to receive varying frequency of weekly PrEP doses and followed for up to 16 weeks. The study will also investigate how pregnancy affects the expected blood levels to help define optimal dosing of PrEP for HIV prevention during pregnancy.
The ongoing Malaria Vaccine Pilot Evaluation (MVPE) is being conducted in Ghana, Malawi and Kenya through community and sentinel hospital surveillance systems and a series of household surveys (to measure vaccine coverage). The Malaria Vaccine Pilot Evaluation-Case Control (MVPE-CC) registered here as observational study is embedded within MVPE comprising case-control studies of clinical and mortality outcomes. Each case will require four controls, and caregiver informed consent will be required prior to study activities. These observational case control studies will measure as complementary information to what is being collected through MVPE: 1. Safety among children who received the malaria vaccine, with focus on cerebral malaria, meningitis and severe malaria 2. The impact of the malaria vaccine on all-cause mortality for boys and girls, AND 3. Promote use of case-control approaches by Expanded Programmes on Immunization (EPI) and malaria control programmes.
Study CKJX839B12302 is a pivotal Phase III trial to evaluate the benefits of inclisiran on major adverse cardiovascular (MACE) events in participants with established cardiovascular disease (CVD).
The investigators will conduct a Phase III cluster randomized controlled trial (cRCT) to evaluate the effectiveness of the implementation of a data-informed stepped care (DiSC) intervention for HIV treatment management among adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) in high-volume HIV clinics in Kenya. The DiSC intervention is comprised of a system to assign ALHIV to care based on their health needs and the different levels of care for each assignment group. The primary outcome will be ALHIV retention, and the secondary outcomes will include adherence, viral non-suppression, and receipt of differentiated care among ALHIV.
The BOHEMIA program consists of a combination of studies organized around a central community prevention mass drug administration protocol and four sub-studies (i.e.; social science, entomology, health economics, and environmental), each written as an individual protocol. The protocol is central but used in two separate, individually powered trials in Mozambique and Kenya. The trials have been powered on the efficacy outcome and designed to meet the requirements of WHO´s preferred product characteristics (PPC) for endectocides.
This Phase 3 study will assess the safety and efficacy of inclacumab, a P-selectin inhibitor, in reducing the frequency of vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) in approximately 240 adult and adolescent participants (≥ 12 years of age) with sickle cell disease (SCD). Participants will be randomized to receive inclacumab or placebo.
The purpose of this Phase III study is to assess the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of two CoV2 preS dTM-AS03 vaccines (monovalent and bivalent) as part of primary series vaccinations in a multi-stage approach, as well as a booster injection of a CoV2 preS dTM-AS03 vaccine, in adults 18 years of age and older. A total of approximately 21 046 participants are planned to be enrolled (5080 per study intervention group in Stage 1 and 5443 per study intervention group in Stage 2). Initial, double-blind, primary series study design is planned for 365 days post-last Initial injection (ie, approximately 386 days total) for each participant. Based on decisions of the Study Oversight Group, Stage 1 and Stage 2 participants will be invited to participate in an unblinded Crossover / Booster study design with duration as follows: - For participants who initially received vaccine: 12 months post-booster (ie, approximately 18 to 24 months) - For participants who initially received placebo: ≥ 4 months post-last dose of the primary series + 12 months post-booster (ie, approximately 28 to 34 months) - For participants who do not consent to continue in the unblinded Crossover / Booster part of the study, all study procedures will be stopped and participants will be discontinued from the study.
This Phase III study is a global multicenter, randomized, double-blind,placebo controlled clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of therecombinant COVID-19 vaccine (Sf9 cells) in 40,000 participants aged 18 years and older who do not have a known history of SARS-CoV-2 infection but whose locations or circumstances put them at appreciable risk of acquiring COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2 infection.
During the study, members of different online and offline communities will be followed post COVID-19 vaccination. Injection-site (local) and systemic reaction data will be assessed on vaccination day and afterwards using either web surveys or personal communication, depending on study participant preference. Hypothesis to be tested: The safety profile and the magnitude and durability of immune responses to the COVID-19 vaccines as well as adverse reactions depend on health conditions, metabolism and microbiomes.
