NCT ID: NCT04805151 Active, not recruiting - Polypharmacy Clinical Trials

Polypharmacy and Associated Risk Factors and Clinical Outcomes for Surgical Patients Discharged From Hospital

Start date: January 2, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The World Health Organisation Patient Safety Challenge: Medication Without Harm has brought our attention to the importance of medication-related harm as a global public health issue. One of the major contributing factors is polypharmacy, the usage of multiple medicines at the same time. People are getting older and living longer with chronic diseases; they need more medications, which frequently leads to polypharmacy. Subsequently, they are at more risk of medication-related harm. The planned project is an epidemiological study on polypharmacy, medication appropriateness, risk factors, and clinical outcomes post-discharge from a hospital for surgical patients. The study group hypothesise that pre-and post-operative polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate prescribing is common, especially among older patients, patients with a high comorbidity and frailty burden, and patients undergoing more complicated surgery. Our hypothesis is additionally that preoperative polypharmacy and potentially inappropriate prescribing is associated with a higher short- and long-term mortality, a longer primary hospitalization length of stay, and a higher risk of readmission.

NCT ID: NCT04770220 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Early Alzheimer's Disease

An Efficacy and Safety Study of ALZ-801 in APOE4/4 Early AD Subjects

APOLLOE4
Start date: May 19, 2021
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study is being conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ALZ-801 in Early Alzheimer's disease (AD) subjects with the APOE4/4 genotype. This is a double-blind, randomized trial with one dose of ALZ-801 compared to placebo.

NCT ID: NCT04714866 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention-deficit Hyperactivity

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for University Students Diagnosed With Attention-deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Start date: October 11, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Drug treatment is often the first and only line of treatment available for ADHD. However, some do not benefit from medication. The importance of psychotherapy is becoming more widely accepted. In this study a group of university students diagnosed with ADHD will be offered cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) in groups. The treatment will be provided by a Clinical Nurse Specialist in psychiatric nursing (CNS), in cooperation with school counsellors at the University of Iceland and the Reykjavík University. Brief CBT treatment will be offered, i.e. six group sessions, once a week over a period of six weeks. Little is known about the effects of CBT for adults diagnosed with ADHD. The study could provide knowledge about the effects of CBT on depression, anxiety and ADHD, and on attitudes, for individuals with ADHD. The resulting knowledge might lead to improved well-being and increased quality of life.

NCT ID: NCT04023552 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease and Lipoprotein(a)

Assessing the Impact of Lipoprotein (a) Lowering With Pelacarsen (TQJ230) on Major Cardiovascular Events in Patients With CVD

Lp(a)HORIZON
Start date: December 12, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a pivotal phase 3 study designed to support an indication for the reduction of cardiovascular risk in patients with established CVD and elevated Lp(a)

NCT ID: NCT03951376 Active, not recruiting - Depressive Symptoms Clinical Trials

Universal Preventive Resilience Intervention to Improve and Promote Mental Health for Teenagers

UPRIGHT
Start date: January 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Adolescence is a period of many physical, mental, emotional, and social changes. It is also associated with risk behaviour conducts. Nonetheless, not all youths under disadvantage, adversity, or exposure to risk factors experience negative mental health outcomes. The concept of RESILIENCE provides one possible explanation for the ability of some individuals to maintain positive mental health. Resilience is thus the ability of an individual or community to adapt to life challenges or adversities while maintaining mental health and well-being. The increasing prevalence of mental disorders amongst children (around 10-20% of young people) makes positive mental health promotion in schools necessary through intervention programmes. UPRIGHT (Universal Preventive Resilience Intervention Globally implemented in schools to improve and promote mental Health for Teenagers) is a research and innovation project funded by the European Union´s Horizon 2020 programme (No. 754919). UPRIGHT general aim is to promote mental well-being and prevent mental disorders in youth by enhancing resilience capacities. It has been designed as a whole school approach addressing early adolescents, their families and the school community to finally create a real mental well-being culture at schools.

NCT ID: NCT03872401 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)

Effect of Evolocumab in Patients at High Cardiovascular Risk Without Prior Myocardial Infarction or Stroke

VESALIUS-CV
Start date: June 11, 2019
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess the effect of lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) with evolocumab on major cardiovascular events in adults without a prior myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke who are at high risk of a cardiovascular event.

NCT ID: NCT03631199 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Study of Efficacy and Safety of Pembrolizumab Plus Platinum-based Doublet Chemotherapy With or Without Canakinumab in Previously Untreated Locally Advanced or Metastatic Non-squamous and Squamous NSCLC Subjects

CANOPY-1
Start date: December 21, 2018
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This is a phase III study of pembrolizumab plus platinum-based doublet chemotherapy with or without canakinumab in previously untreated locally advanced or metastatic non-squamous and squamous NSCLC subjects. The study will assess primarily the safety and tolerability (safety run-in part) of pembrolizumab plus platinum-based doublet chemotherapy with canakinumab and then the efficacy (double-blind, randomized, placebo controlled part) of pembrolizumab plus platinum-based doublet chemotherapy with or without canakinumab.

NCT ID: NCT03327597 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Monoclonal Gammopathy of Undetermined Significance

Iceland Screens, Treats or Prevents Multiple Myeloma

iStopMM
Start date: September 1, 2016
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study will assess the benefits and harms of screening for monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). The overall and disease-specific mortality will be compared between screened and not screened participants. All individuals registered as inhabitants in Iceland and born in 1975 or earlier have been invited to participate. The hypothesis is that an early detection of multiple myeloma (MM), through follow-up of MGUS, will improve overall survival and decrease complications associated with diagnosis and treatment of MM.

NCT ID: NCT02825134 Active, not recruiting - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Comparison of TAVR With SAVR in Younger Low Surgical Risk Patients With Severe Aortic Stenosis
