Different Doses of BI 1467335 Compared to Placebo in Patients With Clinical Evidence of NASH

The primary objective of this study is the proof of mechanism and support of dose finding, together with the safety evaluation in patients with clinical evidence of NASH. To gain further insight into clinical effects of AOC3 inhibition on NASH further exploratory analyses of biomarkers related to NASH and liver fibrosis will be performed. This will include the effect of BI 1467335 on reduction of secondary biomarker endpoints (ALT, AST, AP, γ-GT and CK18 fragments). Safety will be assessed throughout the study to provide key information regarding the use of BI 1467335 in patients with NASH.

The aim of the COSGOD Phase III trial is to examine, if it is possible to increase survival without cerebral injury in preterm neonates <32 weeks of gestation by monitoring the cerebral tissue oxygen saturation in addition to routine monitoring of arterial oxygen saturation and heart rate and specified clinical treatment guidelines during immediate transition period after birth (the first 15 minutes).

When to start anticoagulation in patients with an acute ischaemic stroke and atrial fibrillation (AF) is a relevant unanswered question in clinical practice. Direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) are highly effective for secondary stroke prevention in these patients, but DOACs were never initiated <7 days after stroke onset in recent trials. The ELAN trial will determine the net benefit of early versus late initiation of DOACs in patients with acute ischaemic stroke related to AF. The main objective is to estimate the net benefit of early versus late initiation of DOACs in patients with acute ischaemic stroke related to AF. The secondary objectives are to assess all vascular events and all-cause mortality after early initiation of DOACs in patients with acute ischaemic stroke related to AF compared to late initiation.

Based on new evidence renal dietitians in Ireland are revising the diet sheet that is used to teach patients about reducing blood phosphate. Changes that renal dietitians plan to make to the dietary phosphorus prescription - Inclusion of some nuts and pulses - More detailed education re phosphate additives - More accurate protein prescription - Inclusion of more whole grains - Encouraging the use of foods with a low phosphorus to protein ratio The investigators want to test the two diet prescription to find out, which one is better at reducing blood phosphate and which one is more acceptable to patients. The investigators also want to make sure it is safe.
