NCT ID: NCT03891732 Recruiting - Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials

MRI Prostate for Chinese Men Being Screened for Prostate Cancer

Start date: January 19, 2019
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Under the prostate cancer screening protocol of the project 'Prevention of Obesity-related Cancers', men with elevated PSA with higher prostate cancer risk (PSA 4-10 ng/mL with high Prostate Health Index (PHI) ≥35, or PSA>10 ng/mL) will be offered a prostate biopsy. In the current study, we would like to offer all screened men with elevated PSA in the range of 4-50 ng/mL a biparametric non-contrast MRI prostate (screening protocol) for any suspicious lesion in the prostate. If there is MRI lesion seen, additional targeted biopsies can be performed on top of the standard systematic prostate biopsies. It has been shown in a clinical Caucasian cohort that doing MRI-targeted biopsies resulted in improved detection of clinically significant prostate cancer compared with standard systematic biopsies. In this study investigators would like to investigate the benefits of adding MRI prostate and MRI-targeted biopsy in the diagnostic pathway for prostate cancer in a screened cohort of Chinese men at risk of prostate cancer.

NCT ID: NCT03890796 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Older Adults With Mild to Moderate Level of Dementia

Activity Scheduling for Older Adults With Dementia

AS
Start date: January 21, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study is to evaluate the results from an intervention designed to encourage older adults with dementia for their engagement in activities through their active participation of activity scheduling (AS).

NCT ID: NCT03887897 Recruiting - Intubation Clinical Trials

First Attempt Intubation Rate With Airtraq vs Macintosh Direct Laryngoscope

FAIRAiM
Start date: October 2, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

In recent decades, numerous videolaryngoscopes have been introduced to facilitate tracheal intubation. However, it remains unclear whether videolaryngoscope will increase the successful tracheal intubation compared with usual Macintosch laryngoscope. Therefore, this pilot study is a randomized controlled trial designed to compare the first-pass intubation success of the Airtraq laryngoscope versus the Macintosh direct laryngoscope in patients requiring general anesthesia for elective operation, with the aims to examine the feasibility of a large multicentre effectiveness trial by assessing recruitment targets, testing the data completeness, and local incidence of first-pass intubation success.

NCT ID: NCT03881358 Recruiting - Myopia Clinical Trials

Orthokeratology for High Myopia (OHM) Study

Start date: August 4, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This project aims to investigate/examine high myopic subjects on full correction ortho-k (using Topaz ortho-k lenses for high myopia) compared to subjects undergoing partial reduction ortho-k and their relationship with myopia and myopic progression.

NCT ID: NCT03880344 Recruiting - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

Investigating the Effectiveness of Vibration Therapy on Sarcopenia in Osteoarthritis Knee Patients

Start date: January 31, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the commonest chronic degenerative conditions affecting our aging population. It limits joint movement and causing disability in elderlies due to discordant symptoms such as pain and stiffness. The prevalence of radiologic knee osteoarthritis increases in proportion to age, reaching an astounding 64.1% for patients whom are over 60 years of age. In addition the prevalence of symptomatic knee OA has been shown to be around 10% in people who are 60 years and older.

NCT ID: NCT03879343 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Attention Deficit Disorder With Hyperactivity

The Prevalence and Predictors of Gastrointestinal Symptoms in Children With Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder

Start date: July 1, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study is to examine the gut problems in children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD) and is conducted by the Department of Psychiatry of Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital. Children with ADHD who attend our department will be recruited with their parents/guardians' consent. Only the primary caregiver will be invited for an interview to assess the recruited children's gut problems, autistic features, emotional problems, diet pattern and medical history. The data will be compared with normal children who are recruited as control in local primary schools. The aim of this study is to know whether children with ADHD have higher chance of gut problems, and to assess other factors associated with the linkage.

NCT ID: NCT03875625 Recruiting - Diabetes Mellitus Clinical Trials

Change of Adipose Tissues and Triglyceride After Bariatric Surgery or Life-style Intervention

Start date: April 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study is aimed - To quantify the change of adipose tissues, triglyceride in liver and pancreas and cholesterol after lifestyle intervention or bariatric surgery. - To test the hypothesis that Brown fat is an independent biomarker for the development of Non Alcoholic Fat Liver Disease (NAFLD) - To study the association among Brown fat, NAFLD and obesity.

NCT ID: NCT03855657 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases

Biobank - Investigating the Gut Microbiota, Genetics, Epigenetics and Metabolites

Start date: March 2014
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) affects 1 in 500 to 1,000 people in the West. Previously a disease predominantly of the West, there is now a marked increase in the incidence of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) in Asia, with an estimated prevalence of 1 in 3,000 and 1 in 10,000 respectively[1]. The rapid increase of IBD in Asian raising concern of investigators. Therefore setting up a large scale biobank with comprehensive clinical data is require.

NCT ID: NCT03850613 Recruiting - Anxiety Clinical Trials

Alleviating Caregivers' Stress Through an E-painting Mobile Application

Start date: October 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This study aims to develop a mobile app for caregivers and tests its feasibility for a period of 8 weeks. A mixed-method study design with both qualitative and quantitative components will be used. A maximum of 36 caregivers will be involved in the six focus groups. Each focus group interview will involve 6 caregivers of persons with dementia. Another 30 caregivers will be involved in the 8-week trial use of the app. Each focus group interview will last for about 1.5 hours, facilitated by a moderator. Before and after the 8-week trial use of the app, four outcome measures (Zarit Burden Interview, Self-rated Health, Patient Health Questionnaire, and Modified Medical Outcome Study Social Support Survey) will be taken. This study will provide evidence of the feasibility of the use of the newly developed app among caregivers.

NCT ID: NCT03848624 Recruiting - Stroke Clinical Trials

CUHK Jockey Club HOPE 4 Care Programme - FES Bike

Start date: April 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust has supported CUHK to launch a three-year project 'CUHK Jockey Club HOPE4Care Programme' to implement four evidence-based advanced rehabilitation technologies in 40 local elderly day care centres and rehabilitation centres, to benefit the community. Our research team had developed the "Interactive FES Cycling System" that can be used as tools for rehabilitation by individuals who have suffered from a stroke or elderly. The system can integrate both motor power and muscle power in order to facilitate an active rehabilitative exercise.
