A Study on the Safety, Tolerability and Immunogenicity of ALZ-101 in Participants With Early Alzheimer's Disease

The main purpose of this study is to evaluate safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the vaccine ALZ-101 against Alzheimer's Disease. Patients diagnosed with early Alzheimer's will be included. The study have two parts. The Part A (including A1 and A2), includes four doses of ALZ-101 or corresponding placebo given over 16 weeks. Participant will be followed up to Week 30 in Part A1 and either continue in the extension part of the study, Part B, or complete Part A1. Participant not eligible to Part B will be followed up until Week 68 with no further dosing. Participant eligible for Part B will be treated with 2 doses of open-label ALZ-101, over 16 weeks and followed up during in total 68 weeks (Part A1 and B). Part A2 participants will be followed over 20 weeks.

The Effect Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF) and Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF) on Small Intestine Gut Wall

Several studies among people living with HIV (PLWH) have shown more weight gain with tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) than with tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF). This difference could be due to weight increasing effect of TAF and / or weight decreasing effect of TDF. When TDF is ingested, it gets absorbed in the beginning of the small intestine. TDF is processed into free tenofovir (TFV) within the enterocytes, whereas TAF is not. The effect of TFV on enterocytes is not known, but in kidney tubular cells TFV seems to damage mitochondria and that seems lead to TDF-associated kidney toxicity. In the present cross sectional study the investigators hypothesize that TDF but not TAF causes damage in the small intestine gut wall and that may lead to poorer absorption of nutrients and opposing effects on body weigh. Twelve stable PLWH who have been treated with TDF for at least past 6 months and 12 PLWH who have similarly been treated with TAF for at least past 6 months will be recruited. The participants will have a gastroscopy done with biopsies taken from the small intestine. These biopsies will be examined for mitochondrial damage and other potential pathological findings. In addition, blood concentrations of several nutrients absorbed from the same part of the small intestine as TDF and blood concentrations of some markers of intestinal damage will be measured.

The investigators will evaluate whether a 4-times daily repeated stimulation with gamma tACS on the posterior parietal cortex can improve symptoms in patients with neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia with Lewy Bodies, Alzheimer's disease, idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus and Frontotemporal dementia.

A Study to Find Out Whether BI 1015550 Improves Lung Function in People With Progressive Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases (PF-ILDs)

This study is open to adults with Progressive Fibrosing Interstitial Lung Diseases (PF-ILDs). People who have a form of PF-ILD other than Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) can join the study. If they already take nintedanib, they can continue treatment throughout the study. The purpose of this study is to find out whether a medicine called BI 1015550 helps people with PF-ILD. Participants are put into 3 groups randomly, which means by chance. Participants in 2 groups take different doses of BI 1015550 as tablets twice a day. Participants in the placebo group take placebo tablets twice a day. Placebo tablets look like BI 1015550 tablets but do not contain any medicine. Participants are in the study for up to two and a half years. During the first year, they visit the study site 10 times. Afterwards, they visit the study site every 3 months. The doctors regularly test participants' lung function. The results of the lung function tests are compared between the groups. The doctors also regularly check participants' health and take note of any unwanted effects.

Background: Obstructive sleep apnea is one of our common diseases and up to 80% of patients are estimated to be undiagnosed. Its main risk factors are overweight, age, male gender, menopause, small jaw, sedative medications / drugs and alcohol. The most important treatment for sleep apnea is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). However, not all patients adapt or benefit from device therapy, and up to about 60% stop using the device. Underlying sleep apnea are mechanisms other than anatomical factors such as respiratory wake sensitivity, loop gain control function, and upper respiratory tract muscle activation response and efficiency. Depending on which of these mechanisms dominates as the cause of sleep apnea, the patient's phenotype may vary and CPAP device therapy may not be the correct form of treatment for all patients. Therefore, new targeted therapies should be developed. The WellO2 breathing training device performs back-pressure steam breathing training during the inhalation and exhalation phases. WellO2 effectively exercises the power of the inspiratory muscles, increases the inspiratory muscles, reduces the feeling of dyspnea due to exertion, increases the economy of respiration and delays inhalation muscles. It is a drug-free treatment and easy to use. The use of the WellO2 ventilator has not been previously studied in sleep apnea patients.

Study With Elranatamab Versus Lenalidomide in Patients With Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma After Transplant

The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether elranatamab monotherapy can provide clinical benefit compared to lenalidomide monotherapy (control) in participants with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma after undergoing autologous stem cell transplant. In Part 1 and Part 2 of the study, participants in the study will either receive elranatamab (arm A and C) as an injection under the skin at the study clinic or lenalidomide orally once daily at home (arm B). Participation in the study will be approximately five years
