The purpose of this study is to determinate the efficacy and safety of the 3-drug induction treatment (RVD; lenalidomide plus bortezomib plus dexamethasone)followed by randomized autologous stem cell mobilization, autologous stem cell transplantation and lenalidomide maintenance. Primary endpoint is the immunophenotypic remission rate.During the randomized mobilization phase two active comparator arms Cyclophosphamide (CY)2g/m2 + Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor(G-CSF) vrs G-CSF will be compared regarding efficacy, costs and safety.
Bright light therapy (BLT) has been found to be effective in treatment of seasonal affective disorder (SAD). The mechanism of action of conventional BLT in the treatment of SAD is under debate. Recently, transcranial bright light (TBL) via ear canals has been proved to modulate the neural networks of the human brain and improve cognitive performance in healthy subjects. Moreover, TBL has been found to alleviate symptoms of SAD in open trial. In this case the investigators will study the effect of transcranial bright light treatment via ear canals on depressive and anxiety symptoms in patients suffering from SAD in randomized controlled double-blind study design.

Severe Pneumococcal disease, such as bacteremia, meningitis and pneumonia, cause significant morbidity and mortality in both otherwise healthy adult population and in the immunocompromised patients. The incidence rate of invasive pneumococcal disease is considerably higher among organ transplant patients than in healthy individuals. Routine immunization with Pneumococcal vaccine is recommended pretransplant and once 3-5 years after the transplantation. The efficacy and immunogenicity of Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine(Pneumovax®) is suboptimal in this patient group. The conjugate Pneumococcal vaccine has been shown to be more immunogenic and safe in some other subgroups of immunocompromised patients. We intend to compare the immunogenicity of repeated dose 13-valent Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Prevenar13®)to the existing recommended protocol of Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (Pneumovax®) in adult kidney and liver transplant patients.
This study will evaluate and compare two individualized ranibizumab treatment regimens in patients with neovascular (wet) AMD aiming to achieve and to maintain a maximum visual function benefit, while aiming to avoid unnecessary intravitreal injections. The results will be used to generate further recommendations on functional and anatomical monitoring of the disease and timing of treatment administration for patients with neovascular AMD. In this context, the study will investigate the utility of optical coherence tomography (OCT) to aid retreatment decisions with ranibizumab.

Type-2 diabetes is one of the fastest growing chronic diseases worldwide. This trend is mainly driven by a global increase in the prevalence of obesity. The PREVIEW study has been initiated to find out the most effective lifestyle-components (diet and physical activity) in the prevention of Type-2 diabetes. The project consists of a randomized lifestyle-intervention with the more specific aim to determine the preventative impact of a high-protein and low-GI diet in combination with moderate or high intensity physical activity compared with a moderate-protein and moderate GI diet in combination with the same activity levels on the incidence of Type-2 diabetes in predisposed, pre-diabetic children, young and older adults. The trial will be performed in 6 EU countries (Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Netherlands, UK) and Australia and New Zealand. A total of 2,500 overweight or obese adult participants (25-70 y) as well as 150 children and adolescents aged 10—18 y) will be recruited. All adult participants are first treated by a low-calorie diet for 8 weeks, with an aim to reach ≥ 8% weight reduction. Children and adolescents are treated separately with a conventional weight-reduction diet, with-out a specific aim for absolute weight loss. The adult participants are randomized into two different diet interventions and two exercise interventions for a total of 148 weeks. This period aims at preventing Type-2 diabetes by weight-maintenance (prevention of relapse in reduced body weight) and by independent metabolic effects of diet and physical activity. The primary endpoint of the study is the incidence of Type-2 diabetes in the adults during 3 years (156 weeks) according to diet (high protein/low-GI versus moderate protein/moderate-GI, adjusted for physical activity), based on a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test and/or HbA1c. For children and adolescents: Change in insulin resistance at 2 years after randomization to high protein versus moderate protein diet, measured by insulin resistance analyzed by the homeostatic model (HOMA-IR) as well as physiological improvement of health with respect to pre-diabetic characteristics. Our hypothesis is that a high-protein, low-GI diet will be superior in preventing type-2 diabetes, compared with a moderate protein, moderate GI diet, and that high-intensity physical activity will be superior compared to moderate-intensity physical activity.
The primary objectives of this study are: - To determine whether rivaroxaban 2.5 mg twice daily (bid) + aspirin 100 mg once daily (od) compared with aspirin 100 mg od reduces the risk of a composite of myocardial infarction, stroke, or cardiovascular death in subjects with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD); - To determine whether rivaroxaban 5 mg bid compared with aspirin 100 mg od reduces the risk of a composite of myocardial infarction, stroke or cardiovascular death in subjects with CAD or PAD.
This double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized, multicenter, international, parallel arm study will evaluate the efficacy and safety of pertuzumab in combination with trastuzumab, fluoropyrimidine and cisplatin as first-line treatment in participants with HER2-positive metastatic gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) or gastric cancer (GC). Participants will be randomized to receive pertuzumab 840 milligrams (mg) or placebo intravenously every 3 weeks (q3w) in combination with trastuzumab (initial dose of 8 milligrams per kilogram [mg/kg] intravenously [IV] followed by 6 mg/kg IV q3w) and cisplatin and fluoropyrimidine (capecitabine or 5-fluorouracil) for the first 6 treatment cycles. Participants will continue to receive pertuzumab or placebo and trastuzumab until disease progression occurrence of unacceptable toxicity or withdrawal from the study for another reason.
The results of previous studies suggest further development of [18F]EF5 as a PET tracer for imaging hypoxia. This is a non-randomized prospective study to obtain information on reproducibility of [18F]EF5 intratumor distribution using repeated pretreatment PET/CT scans.
