There are about 9403 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Switzerland. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
The main aim is to evaluate the effect of TAK-861 on symptoms of narcolepsy, including excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) as measured by sleep latency from the Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT). The study will enroll approximately 60 participants and they will be randomly assigned to 3 groups (20 per group) to take one of two different doses of TAK-861 or a placebo. All the participants will receive the treatment for 8 weeks. Participants will be asked to complete some questionnaires during the study. This trial will be conducted in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
The main aim of this study is to see how TAK-861 works on symptoms of narcolepsy, including excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. Approximately 100 participants will take part in the study across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The treatment (TAK-861 or placebo) will be administered for 8 or 12 weeks. After this treatment period the participant will have the option to participate in a separate, long- term extension study during which all participants will be treated with TAK-861.
Randomized, double-blind, parallel groups, placebo-controlled, baseline/run-in period of 21 days followed by trial period of 21 days, digital phenotyping (sleep, cognitive/psychological parameters and HRV). The aim of this study is to determine the feasibility of investigating the effects of Redormin® 500 on day-time cognition and to assess psychological parameters (subjective cognitive performance, tiredness, mood, stress level, quality of life, motivation), in people with occasional sleep problems. Sleep tracking data will be collected using consumer devices of the Charge series by Fitbit.
Intrusive memories represent a debilitating core feature of PTSD, one of the most prevalent psychiatric disorders following trauma. Exposure therapy is amongst the most successful treatments of PTSD that is recommended by most of the current national and international guidelines. The current study aims to test whether sleep as adjunct to written exposure sessions, a type of exposure- based treatment for PTSD, may boost the effectiveness of the therapy.
As part of a Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF project (On-site multi-component intervention to improve productivity and reduce the economic and personal burden of neck pain in Swiss Office-Workers, NEXpro = Neck EXercises for productivity, SNSF no. 32003B_182389, BASEC no. 2019-01678), the investigators first developed a physiotherapeutic exercise intervention to improve the strength and mobility of the neck muscles. In the SNSF project NEXpro, the intervention took place on-site in the office. However, in view of the digital transformation, it is important to adapt the intervention delivery method to the new virtual work setting. The aims of the present project are therefore to implement, further develop and contextually adapt the exercise intervention in order to reduce musculoskeletal complaints and to reduce health-related presenteeism. The final product is a user-friendly virtual 6-week short exercise intervention that employees of the University of Bern can use independently, regardless of time and place. The effectiveness of the newly developed short exercise intervention (pain reduction, reduction of presenteeism) will be assessed during a short pilot phase.
During induction of general anaesthesia physiological breathing stops and needs to be artificially established with facemask ventilation, and finally tracheal intubation or placement of a supraglottic airway. During the airway management, when lungs are not or only poorly ventilated, there is a risk for atelectasis. These atelectasis can contribute to respiratory adverse events (e.g. pulmonary infection or respiratory insufficiency) during or after general anaesthesia. High-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) is the administration of heated, humidified and blended air/oxygen mixture via a nasal cannula at rates ≥ 2 L/kg/min. HFNO used during airway management (i.e. intubation) can extend the tolerance for apnea, the time from end of physiological breathing until artificial ventilation is established. The main objective of this study is thus to investigate the variations of poorly ventilated lung units (i.e., silent spaces) as a surrogate for functional residual capacity measured by electrical impedance tomography to dynamically assess atelectasis formation and regression under apnoeic oxygenation with different flow rates.
This non-interventional descriptive study was undertaken to better understand the most common imaging features associated with inflammation arising in the post-marketing setting when brolucizumab was prescribed in routine clinical practice.
This pilot study was conceptualised to determine the feasibility of involving parents via facilitated tucking or observing during painful procedures and to measure change in parental stress and infant pain. An additional purpose of this pilot study was to determine the size of the cohort of preterm infants needed for a larger trial, the time, and resources required for recruitment and data collection.
The study aims to assess an individual or self-administered computer therapy's effectiveness in grammatical time marking. The main objective is to examine whether the therapy improves grammatical time marking of inflected verbs treated on the sessions. We also explore whether the observed progress can be transferred to untrained items, more ecological contexts and if is maintained two and four weeks after the end of treatment. This therapy will be administered to six individuals with brain lesions after stroke. Four individuals will take part of the individual therapy and two individuals will take part of the self-administered computer therapy. The therapy will last one month, at the rate of three weekly sessions of approximately one hour.
The ongoing warfare and economic instability in the Middle East and in North Africa causes many people to leave their home countries. Arrived in a host countries, in this example, in Switzerland, they face a lot of structural and psychosocial hurdles. Particularly in the first years, building up a certain quality of life is complicated and challenging. To support this process, the Swiss Red Cross and the University of Bern have developed the Sui app. It contains structural and social information as well as low-intensity psychological tools to provide support to the everyday life of Arabic-speaking people in Switzerland.
