There are about 10004 clinical studies being (or have been) conducted in Brazil. The country of the clinical trial is determined by the location of where the clinical research is being studied. Most studies are often held in multiple locations & countries.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects up to 20% of men and is a growing problem with advancing age. There are many causes that contribute to ED, including the concomitant use of prescription drugs for health problems, including hypertension, or diseases such as diabetes. causes an up-regulation or increased local tissue expression of these proteins. This study follows the demonstration of the effectiveness of using BES in the treatment of ED. The aim of this study will be to examine the potentially additive effect of adding a third arm to the previous protocol to include the addition of 4 new target proteins to VEGF, including endothelial nitric oxide (eNOS), stromal-derived factor 1 (SDF-1), insulin-like growth factor (IGF) and follistatin.
The primary objective is to compare pembrolizumab plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab to placebo plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab, with respect to progression-free survival (PFS) per Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) 1.1 as assessed by the investigator. The hypotheses are that pembrolizumab plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab is superior to placebo plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab, with respect to PFS per RECIST 1.1 as assessed by the investigator for participants with programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) positive tumors (Combined Positive Score [CPS] ≥1) and that pembrolizumab plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab is superior to placebo plus paclitaxel with or without bevacizumab, with respect to PFS per RECIST 1.1 as assessed by the investigator for all participants.
This study will aim to test the effectiveness and feasibility of a technology-supported home-based exercise program in adolescents with JIA. For this, adolescents (< 18 years) with JIA will be randomized to a 12-weeks home-based exercise program or usual care (i.e., no exercise control intervention). The home-based exercise intervention will be delivered remotely using a video calling app, and participants will be instructed to perform 3 sessions of weight-bearing exercise per week. Participants will be supported by educational materials, a heart rate monitor, and through periodic contact with an exercise specialist via video and phone calls, and text messages. The study's primary outcomes will be: cardiac and vascular function and structure using ultrasound imaging, body composition (DXA), aerobic capacity, muscle strength and functional capacity. In addition to that, the feasibility, safety, acceptability, and barriers and facilitators to the intervention will also be assessed.
The proposed control intervention trial, aims to analyse the effects of Dance in the turning characteristics in patients with Parkinson Disease (PD) using three- dimensional (3D) analysis during the timed up and go (TUG) test.
This study will look at the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) in a neoadjuvant setting, in high-risk, HER2-positive early non-metastatic breast cancer.
The main aim of this study is to capture management and treatment outcome data in participants with short bowel syndrome and chronic intestinal failure (SBS-IF) that underwent intestinal transplantation in Brazil. This study is about collecting data available in the participant's medical record and will also describe the demographic and clinical characteristics of these participants. No medication will be provided to participants in this study. Clinical data will be collected from a period up to 10 years before the day of the intestinal transplantation. No clinic visits will be required as part of participation in this study.
In order to increase adherence to ketogenic diet treatment, palatability of meals and diversify the foods offered to patients a ketogenic kitchen will be created. Intervention: Incorporation of culinary workshops and supply of recipes for patients undergoing ketogenic diet treatment at Instituto da Criança - HCFMUSP.
The main objective of Part 1 is to evaluate the safety and tolerability of bemarituzumab plus 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin (mFOLFOX6) and nivolumab. The main objective Part 2 is to compare efficacy of bemarituzumab plus chemotherapy (mFOLFOX6 or capecitabine combined with oxaliplatin (CAPOX)) and nivolumab to placebo plus chemotherapy (mFOLFOX6 or CAPOX) and nivolumab as assessed by overall survival.
Azoospermia is defined as the complete absence of spermatozoa in the ejaculate. Two-thirds of azoospermic patients have non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA); the latter comprises up to 10% of infertile men overall. NOA is an untreatable testicular disorder associated with spermatogenic failure and is the most severe male infertility phenotype. Among the available surgical sperm retrieval techniques, microdissection testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) is the procedure of choice due to its high sperm retrieval success rates (SRR), minimal tissue extraction, and low complication rates. Even with the use of micro-TESE, the likelihood of retrieving sperm in patients with NOA remain suboptimal (40% to 60%). Hypogonadism is detected in approximately half of the patients with NOA. Given the role of intratesticular testosterone (ITT) levels for spermatogenesis, some studies have explored the clinical utility of testosterone optimization by medical therapy before sperm retrieval. Moreover, some investigators have hypothesized that the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) reset might increase the expression of FSH receptors and improve Sertoli cell function. Hormonal therapy with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) has been shown to improve ITT production and decrease FSH levels in patients with NOA. The investigators, therefore, designed an observational cohort study aiming to evaluate whether hormone stimulation with gonadotropins (e.g., hCG alone or combined with FSH) previous to micro-TESE increases sperm retrieval rates in hypogonadal infertile men with NOA, candidates for sperm retrieval. The investigators hypothesize that optimizing ITT production and resetting FSH levels may improve spermatogenesis and successful sperm recovery.
Rose Bengal Electromagnetic Activation with Green light for Infection Reduction (REAGIR ) is an international, randomized, doubled masked, clinical trial. The purpose of this study is to determine differences in 6-month visual acuity between medical antimicrobial treatments alone versus antimicrobial treatment plus cross-linking with rose Bengal (RB-PDT). Patients presenting to one of the Aravind Eye Hospitals in India or to the Federal University of São Paulo ophthalmology clinic in Brazil with either smear or culture positive fungal or acanthamoeba keratitis or smear and culture negative corneal ulcers and moderate to severe vision loss, defined as Snellen visual acuity of 20/40 or worse, will be eligible for inclusion. Those who agree to participate will be randomized to one of two treatment groups: Group 4, Sham RB-PDT: topical chlorhexidine gluconate 0.02% (acanthamoeba), moxifloxacin 0.5% (smear/culture negative) or natamycin 5% (fungal keratitis) plus sham RB-PDT Group 5, RB-PDT: topical chlorhexidine gluconate 0.02% (acanthamoeba), moxifloxacin 0.5% (smear/culture negative) or natamycin 5% (fungal keratitis) plus RB-PDT.
