Filter by:The goal of this hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation study is to evaluate and compare different ways of delivering genetic research results to participants. The main questions the study aims to answer are: - Is sharing actionable genetic research results with participants through a multimedia patient-informed eHealth intervention (e.g. patient portal) no worse than sharing results by telephone or videoconference with a genetic counselor? - Will research participants access an eHealth educational intervention or chatbot education to learn about research results being offered and the option to decline learning their individual research results and how frequently participants choose to decline actionable research results? - Who benefits less and more from digital intervention with return of actionable research results and what barriers exist to using these tools for return of research results outside this study? Participants in the biobank will be offered digital tools to learn about research results being offered and the option to decline receiving these results. Those who don't decline and have an actionable result will be randomly assigned to receive their results with a genetic counselor or through an eHealth portal. Participants will complete surveys before and after receipt of results to understand patient experiences with these methods of education and return of results to determine if digital tools can be used to help ensure more patients get access to research results which could impact their health.
The goal of this phase I/II clinical trial is to evaluate the safety and preventive effect of intravenous infusion of human allogeneic bone-marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cell product StromaForte in study participants. The main questions it aims to answer are: To assess the safety and tolerability after 28 days of injection by reporting the number of adverse events assessed by Common Terminology Criteria For Adverse Events (CTCAE) To evaluate the effects of Mesenchymal stem cells on Prevention of Cardiovascular Events by following the reported incidence of cardiovascular events amongst study participants up to five year post-injection Participants will receive 100 x 106 allogeneic bone marrow (BM)-derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cell (MSC) formulated in sodium chloride supplemented with human serum albumin to be given via slow intravenous infusion 100 million cells in approximately 30 min
This is an observational longitudinal study which will collect routine demographic, laboratory and clinical parameters of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in the Silesian and Warmia and Mazury Regions (Poland) aimed at predicting incident cardiovascular disease and cardiovascular and renal events using machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches. There will be a subgroup analysis of patients with diabetes and CKD.
A prospective, randomised, open-labelled, multi-center study. The aim of the Steno 1 study is to test multifactorial intervention in individuals with type 1 diabetes at high risk of CVD with ambitious treatment targets. We will include 2000 participants. Follow-up is 5 years.
This is a registry of the patients that are admitted to CICU and treated by the Scientific Staff of the 2nd Department of Cardiology, due to an acute cardiovascular disease (acute coronary syndrome, acute heart failure, arrhythmia, pulmonary embolism, cardiac tamponade etc) in order to investigate the clinical characteristics of the patients, their outcome, identify the factors that could predict the in-hospital mortality and compare the results with the predicted by established risk scores. Furthermore, the study will investigate the one-year mortality and also the major adverse cardiac events (MACE - acute myocardial infarction, stroke, or cardiovascular death) will be measured.
The HEARTS Technical Package was developed by the World Health Organization to address the implementation gap of cardiovascular disease prevention in low- and middle-income countries. Guatemala is a middle-income country that is currently implementing HEARTS. National authorities are interested in exploring how hypertension and diabetes management can be integrated in HEARTS implementation. The objective of this study is to conduct a feasibility and acceptability pilot trial of integrated hypertension and diabetes management based on HEARTS in the publicly funded primary care system in Guatemala.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of disability and death worldwide. People with COPD often have cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) that are associated with increased risk for hospitalization and prolonged stay as well as all-cause and CVD-related mortality. Nevertheless, CVDs in patients with COPD are tend to be underestimated in clinical practice. Mechanisms that define the relation between COPD and cardiovascular morbidity include lung hyperinflation, hypoxia, pulmonary hypertension, systemic inflammation and oxidative stress, exacerbation, shared risk factors and COPD phenotypes. Recently, some authors have announced that COPD treatment with dual bronchodilation may not only improve pulmonary function and quality of life, but also have a positive effect on cardiac function in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or two-dimensional cardiac ultrasound for the assessments. The aim of this study is to specify the state of respiratory and cardiovascular systems as well as exercise capacity and quality of life in patients with newly diagnosed moderate-to-severe COPD and to evaluate their changes after short-term treatment with dual bronchodilation. We hypothesize that patients with newly diagnosed COPD and no previous records of cardiac diseases and no apparent signs of heart failure have significantly impaired cardiac autonomic integrity that precedes to increased risk of cardiovascular events. It is believed that cardiac autonomic integrity might significantly improve with dual bronchodilation therapy.
Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the effect of motivational interviewing-based training program on reducing cardiovascular disease risk factors in adults. Methods: In the first stage, individuals' CVD risk levels were determined. In the second stage, a 6-session motivational interview-based training program was applied to the intervention group with a medium CVD risk level (HearthSCORE score between 2 and 5 points). Brochures were distributed to the control group.
The purpose of this study is to define the requirements and characteristics of the software that will be developed for the project "Creation of a platform for self-service of people living with chronic cardiovascular diseases in an understandable, clear, complete, consistent and verifiable manner. The project concerns the design and implementation of a long-term program of therapeutic exercise and evaluation, by exercise and health professionals, of the anatomical and functional adaptations of exercise in patients and athletes with cardiovascular diseases. Essentially, it is a program of recording and monitoring cardiovascular rehabilitation in the form of systematic exercise of the patient both at home and in sports venues, which will contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular events in conditions of fatigue and at rest as well as to the gradual rehabilitation of the patient who performs a physical activity. Depending on the individual's functional capacity and health issues, combined with monitoring the patient's vital signs (such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, body temperature) the exercise professional will create an individualized, targeted exercise program with ultimate aiming at its rehabilitation with the help of physical activity and the improvement of its functional performance and by extension the quality of life of the individual. At the same time, the project will seek to motivate patients to remain committed to the physical activity program, with the aim of faster reintegration into their daily life.
