NCT ID: NCT00584467 Terminated - Atherosclerosis Clinical Trials

Genetic and Inflammatory Markers in Cardiovascular Disease (GEM) Registry

GEM
Start date: January 2005
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This is an investigator initiated registry aimed at assembling a blood/serum and genomic resource (bank) of human blood samples with accompanying clinical data mainly from patients who are scheduled to undergo cardiac catheterization at UC Davis Medical Center, but may also include other eligible individuals. Funding is from institutional/divisional research funds.

NCT ID: NCT00549757 Terminated - Clinical trials for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Aliskiren Trial in Type 2 Diabetes Using Cardiovascular and Renal Disease Endpoints (Core and Extension Phases)

ALTITUDE
Start date: October 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study was to determine whether, in patients with type 2 diabetes and pre-existing disease of the heart and the circulatory system and/or the kidney, aliskiren at a target dose of 300 mg once daily (compared to placebo), on top of conventional treatment, reduces death and disease caused by the heart, the circulatory system and the kidney. AMENDMENT 4 RATIONALE (MARCH 2012) : Protocol amendment 4 served to address the data monitoring committee recommendation dated 14 Dec 2011 to discontinue study treatment in all participating patients. It also addressed the subsequent Health Authorities request to implement a 12 month safety follow-up period (actual duration was 9 months in average) post study drug discontinuation.

NCT ID: NCT00534456 Terminated - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

An Exploratory Sub-study for the RED-HF™ (Reduction of Events With Darbepoetin Alfa in Heart Failure) Trial

Start date: January 2007
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of Study 20060172 was to measure echocardiographic parameters and biomarkers in a subgroup of study subjects enrolled in Study 20050222 (the RED-HF Trial). This substudy 20060172 was terminated early due to feasibility constraints. All subjects enrolled in 20060172 were also enrolled in Study 20050222, which is ongoing. Study data will be analyzed when Study 20050222 ends, since unblinding before then would adversely affect Study 20050222.

NCT ID: NCT00521391 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Physical Activity as an Aid for Smoking Cessation

PHASMO
Start date: April 2003
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Including a tailored moderate-intensity physical activity intervention in a standard smoking cessation treatment program (pharmaceutical treatment and counseling) increases the chances of quitting and reduces nicotine withdrawal symptoms, negative moods, stress, and weight gain.

NCT ID: NCT00507312 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Assessment of Myocardial Disease in Man Using Novel Non-invasive Diagnostic Tools

Start date: October 2007
Phase: Phase 1
Study type: Interventional

This study will be testing two devices which are designed to detect cardiovascular disease in patients as early as possible. As there are now many therapies to prevent and treat this condition it is believed that detecting it early will help reduce the burden of the disease and permit more effective treatment. The two devices the investigators are testing are the ViScope developed by HD Medical and a device developed by CSIRO. Both of these devices are simple, non-invasive and may provide useful information on how well the heart contracts and relaxes as well as valve function of the heart. The investigators are planning to enroll 100 healthy subjects, 100 participants with risk factors for heart failure and 300 patients with varying types of heart failure. The data collected from the experimental devices will be compared to the results from standard tests. Patients will not have any of their therapies altered as part of this study.

NCT ID: NCT00483951 Terminated - Clinical trials for Myocardial Infarction

Cardiovascular Disease Screening

Start date: January 28, 2008
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will evaluate volunteers 18 years of age and older to see if they qualify for one of NHLBI s research studies. Tests include the following: - General medical evaluation, which may include blood tests, chest x-ray, electrocardiogram (ECG) and echocardiogram (heart ultrasound). - Other tests as appropriate, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiac computed tomography (CT scan of the heart), nuclear stress test and echocardiography stress test. - X-ray contrast studies of the heart and blood vessels. (These may be excluded in patients with kidney risk factors.)

NCT ID: NCT00452842 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Safety FollowUp Study Of Cardiovascular Events In Subjects Who Participated In Selected Torcetrapib/Atorvastatin Studies

Start date: October 2007
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

An observational safety follow up trial will be conducted to monitor the occurrence of cardiovascular events and all cause mortality in subjects who participated in selected torcetrapib/atorvastatin Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials. No hypotheses will be tested.

NCT ID: NCT00451256 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Disease

Safety and Efficacy Study of AVI-5126 When Used on Vein Grafts Before Use in Heart by-Pass Graft Surgery (CABG)

Start date: March 2007
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

For some people who have heart by-pass surgery, the vein that is used to by-pass a blockage will, after some time, become narrowed and possibly blocked. AVI-5126 blocks a gene that is believed to be responsible for the events in the blood vessel that cause this narrowing. Therefore, exposing the vein to AVI-5126 before it is attached to the coronary artery may result in less problems with these vein grafts later on. This study will determine if this procedure is both safe and effective.

NCT ID: NCT00404807 Terminated - Heart Failure Clinical Trials

Cardiac Function After CPAP Therapy in Patients With Chronic Heart Failure and Sleep Apnea. A Multicenter Study

Start date: January 2001
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The role of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in cardiac function in patients with CSA and OSA has been studied with varying results. Nevertheless, it is not clear whether CPAP treatment for respiratory sleep disorders in CHF could slow down deterioration or improve the cardiovascular function. In an attempt to yield further insight into this subject, we undertook a multicentre study to analyze the role of CPAP therapy (optimal vs sham) in the LVEF and in other cardiac measurements in patients with CHF.Aim. We evaluated in a randomized multicentre placebo (sham-CPAP) controlled study the effect of CPAP treatment on the left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) among other cardiological related variables.

NCT ID: NCT00395603 Terminated - Clinical trials for Cardiovascular Diseases

Vytorin Treating Uncontrolled Lipids (VyTUL) Study (0653A-122)

Start date: September 2006
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

To compare the effectiveness of ezetimibe/simvastatin 10/40 daily to atorvastatin 80 daily in reducing the concentration of ldl-c at endpoint after 6 weeks of treatment.
