NCT ID: NCT05901779 Recruiting - Gastric Cancer Clinical Trials

Effect of Probiotic Supplements on Gastric Cancer Patients Receiving Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Background: Surgery can significantly improve the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer. However, some patients are at a later stage at diagnosis and need to receive neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT). Previous studies have shown that NACT may lead to more postoperative complications. Probiotics have the potential to reduce postoperative complications and infections, but no large sample, multicentre, randomized clinical trials have been conducted in patients with gastric cancer receiving NACT. The aim of this multicentre randomized controlled trial was to investigate the effect of probiotics on postoperative infections and other short-term outcomes in patients with gastric cancer receiving NACT. Methods/design: This study is a prospective, multicentre RCT. This experiment will consist of two groups - an experimental group and a control group - randomly divided in a 1:1 ratio. The experimental group will receive perioperative probiotic supplement and that of the control group will receive blank control management. An estimated 318 patients will be enrolled. The main endpoint for comparison is postoperative infections between the two groups. The experimental group patients received probiotic capsules containing Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus acidophilus, and Enterococcus faecalis.

NCT ID: NCT05909982 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Acute Ischemic Stroke

Ischemic Post-conditioning in Acute Ischemic Stroke Thrombectomy (PROTECT-1b)

PROTECT
Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: Phase 1/Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

Ischemic post-conditioning is a neuroprotective strategy attenuating reperfusion injury in animal stroke models. The investigators have conducted a 3 + 3 dose-escalation trial to demonstrate the safety and tolerability of ischemic post-conditioning incrementally for a longer duration of up to 5 min × 4 cycles in stroke patients undergoing mechanical thrombectomy. This study aims to assess the infarct volume after ischemic post-conditioning in patients with acute ischemic stroke who are treated with mechanical thrombectomy.

NCT ID: NCT05911542 Recruiting - Pain Management Clinical Trials

Dentists' Attitudes Towards Pharmacological Management of Acute Pain in Children and Adolescents - a Follow-up Survey

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of this study is to investigate Swedish dentists' attitudes about pain management when treating children and adolescents by assessing 1) dentists' recommendations for the use of pre- and postoperative analgesics, (2) use of local anaesthesia during treatment of primary and permanent teeth, and (3) if the use of these strategies differs between General Dental Practitioners (GDP) and Specialist Paediatric Dentists (SPD). All Swedish SPDs (including post-graduate dentists in paediatric dentistry), circa 150 in total, and approximately 1,000 GDPs in County Skåne, Sweden will be invited to answer a questionnaire.

NCT ID: NCT05913583 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Correlation Between Pre-transplant ICI Exposure and Post-transplant Graft Rejection

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the treatment of advanced HCC. The combination of the ICI and other treatment regimens (Anti-VEGF, locoregional therapies et al) produced superior results in patients with advanced-stage HCC compared to those treated with traditional therapeutic regimens. Liver transplantation (LT) offers excellent long-term outcomes for certain patients with HCC. However, the immune-stimulating property of ICIs may lead to rejection and even graft loss, damping their use in treating HCC before liver transplantation. Therefore, it is worthwhile to explore the relationship between exposure to ICIs before LT and the incidence of graft rejection and rejection-related death or graft loss after LT.

NCT ID: NCT05916859 Recruiting - Periapical Diseases Clinical Trials

Effectiveness of Photodynamic Therapy in the Disinfection of Root Canals in Patients With Apical Lesion

PDT
Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The object of the present study is to compare the effectiveness of conventional endodontic treatment with that of endodontic treatment combined with Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) in patients with apical lesion. Clinical and radiographic examination of the patients will be used to evaluate the presence of apical lesion, size of the lesion, and PAI index. Microbiological examination (evaluation of UFC/ml) will be carried out to assess the disinfection of the root canals. The success rate of the treatment will also be assessed. Endodontic treatment will be carried out in accordance with habitual standards and practices. PDT will be applied with diode laser (660 nm, 100 mW) and methylene blue will be used as photosensitizer (PS). Patients of the Endodontics Service of Universidad San Sebastián (Santiago campus) will be recruited for the study.

NCT ID: NCT05917925 Recruiting - Knee Osteoarthritis Clinical Trials

NCT ID: NCT05921669 Recruiting - Breast Feeding Clinical Trials

The Effect Of Traınıng On Breastfeedıng Gıven To Fathers On Breastfeedıng, Parent-Baby Bondıng And Breastfeedıng Self-Effıcacy Level

Start date: April 1, 2023
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The most suitable food for babies is breast milk. It is known that breastfeeding, beyond providing nutrition, has many health benefits for the baby and the mother. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that babies start breastfeeding within 1 hour after birth and breastfeed exclusively without any additional food, including water, for the first 6 months. After six months, complementary foods should be started, and the baby should continue to be breastfed for two years or more. On the other hand, between 2015-2020, the rates of infants aged 0-6 months fed with breast milk alone are approximately 44% worldwide. There are many factors that affect the time of initiation of breastfeeding and the duration of breastfeeding. Some of those; maternal education, mode of delivery, birth weight and socio-economic status. Another influential factor is paternal support. Fathers may want to be involved in breastfeeding education and support their spouses in this process. However, the reasons such as not taking part in the trainings and not being asked direct questions about breastfeeding may cause fathers to feel excluded in this process. It is important to include fathers in education and interventions to achieve breastfeeding goals. Mothers who are supported by their spouses during the breastfeeding process experience breastfeeding problems less and can cope with these problems better. Today, it is known that fathers are not given sufficient importance in promoting breastfeeding. Including fathers in breastfeeding education can increase the rate and duration of breastfeeding of infants. This study was planned to determine the effect of breastfeeding education given to mothers and/or fathers in the postnatal period on breastfeeding, parent-infant attachment and breastfeeding self-efficacy. The aim of the study is to draw attention to the importance of father support in breastfeeding.
