NCT ID: NCT04571515 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Dose-Response Study of MR-107A-01 in The Treatment of Post-Surgical Dental Pain

Start date: September 29, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

MR-107A-01 is being studied to investigate its efficacy, safety, and dose-response after dental surgery.

NCT ID: NCT04565600 Completed - Pain Syndrome Clinical Trials

Prevention of Taxane-associated Acute Pain Syndrome With Etoricoxib

Start date: March 1, 2020
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

A phase II randomized clinical trial was conducted to determine whether etoricoxib could prevent or ameliorate the incidence and/or severity of docetaxel-induced acute pain syndrome. We also aimed to determine if there are any improvement of the late-onset peripheral neuropathy as well as quality of life with prophylactic etoricoxib for breast cancer patients who receive docetaxel chemotherapy.

NCT ID: NCT04548635 Completed - Acute Pain Clinical Trials

VR for Burn Dressing Changes at Home

Start date: September 5, 2019
Phase: Phase 2/Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

This study will evaluate the impact of our smartphone-based Virtual Reality Pain Alleviation Tool (VR-PAT) during the repeated at-home burn dressing changes of children (5-17 years) with a burn injury in comparison with a control group of children with a burn injury who will not use VR-PAT during at-home burn dressing changes. We hypothesize that children using VR-PAT will report less pain during their dressing changes.

NCT ID: NCT04538105 Withdrawn - Analgesia Clinical Trials

Preoperative Fluoroscopy Guided Hip Articular Branch Blocks and Analgesic Outcomes Following Hip Arthroscopy

Start date: May 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Arthroscopic hip surgeries are increasingly being performed as both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. These procedures are considerably painful, thus requiring the proper pain management techniques in order to provide patient satisfaction and sufficient pain control. Articular branch blocks have not been evaluated for their use in hip arthroscopy, but have potential advantages of blocking the sensory innervation of the entire hip joint, with minimal impact on motor innervation compared to alternative blocks. This current study aims to evaluate the efficacy of using preoperative fluoroscopic-guided blockade of articular branches of the femoral and obturator nerves for analgesic management of patients undergoing arthroscopy compared to a saline sham block. The utility of pre-operative hip articular branch block (ABB) prior to hip arthroscopy will provide superior pain management postoperatively compared to a saline sham block. We hypothesize that the ABB (Articular Branch Block) will reduce the area under the NRS pain scores by time curve (AUC) and decreased oral opioid milligram equivalent use in the first 24 hours post-operatively.

NCT ID: NCT04534101 Suspended - Chronic Pain Clinical Trials

Medical Mindfulness: Virtual Reality Mindfulness Therapy for Anxiety and Pain Management in Patients With Acute and Chronic Pain

VR Mindfulness
Start date: July 10, 2018
Phase:
Study type: Observational

Adults and children undergoing medical care (inpatient or outpatient) often experience pain and anxiety either as a result of their medical condition or a side effect of medical procedures. The purpose of this study is to create a registry of patients using virtual reality (VR) mindfulness therapy through different aspects of their medical care to determine if VR mindfulness therapy is more effective than the standard of care (i.e., no technology based distraction) for treating or preventing anxiety and pain in adults and children suffering from chronic pain, GI conditions where pain is a common symptom, or undergoing any painful medical procedure (i.e. IV access, blood draws, endoscopy, surgery). The anticipated primary outcome will be reduction of pain and anxiety for both acute and chronic pain.

NCT ID: NCT04523623 Not yet recruiting - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

Pain Control Differences Between Oxycodone and Ibuprofen in Children With Isolated Forearm Injuries

Start date: September 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Children presenting to the Emergency Room with the chief complaint of forearm injury and/or pain will be randomized to receive oral Oxycodone or Ibuprofen to control pain.

NCT ID: NCT04520958 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Preoperative Psychosocial Support for Postoperative Recovery and Health: Mechanistic Substudy

Start date: October 29, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

This was a single site, three-arm, parallel group randomized clinical trial that compared the effect of three preoperative psychosocial interventions on knee and hip replacement patients' preoperative pain intensity and postoperative pain intensity, pain unpleasantness, and opioid use.

NCT ID: NCT04520854 Recruiting - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Telehealth Delivered Physical Rehabilitation for an Ankle Sprain

Start date: January 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

A vast majority (75-85%) of ankle sprain patients treated in emergency departments (ED) receive pain medication and are not referred for physical rehabilitation. Therefore, purpose of this study is to increase access to the standard of care for an ankle sprain by provide patients with physical rehabilitation delivered through telehealth. The purpose of this study includes compare a 2-week telehealth intervention to the usual care for treating 1) subjective function; 2) physical impairments; 3) medication consumption; and 4) patient-perceived barriers. The central hypothesis is participants receiving the 2-week telehealth intervention will 1) have less pain and disability; 2) improve balance and ankle range of motion; 3) consume less medication; and 4) reports positive feedback compared to the usual care group.

NCT ID: NCT04509115 Completed - Opioid Use Clinical Trials

Variation in Opioid Prescribing and Use for Acute Pain in Diverse Populations

Start date: September 11, 2020
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study will characterize patient pain and opioid use after an initial opioid prescription for acute pain.

NCT ID: NCT04491630 Not yet recruiting - Pain, Acute Clinical Trials

COping With PAin Through Hypnosis, Mindfulness and Spirituality

COPAHS
Start date: September 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the immediate effects of self-hypnosis, mindfulness meditation and a spiritual intervention relative to a control condition for increasing pain tolerance and reducing pain intensity and pain-related stress, in response to experimental painful stimulation.
