The Effect of Mobile Education on Anxiety and Activities of Daily Living

Start date: September 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study was planned as a block randomized controlled experimental study. In order to calculate the sample size needed in our study, a pilot study will be conducted and a priori power analysis will be made based on the results of this study. E-mobile application will be used as data collection tool. The research will be carried out with 2 groups as application (mobile application) and control (standard care).

NCT ID: NCT05449626 Completed - Alzheimer Disease Clinical Trials

Validity and Reliability of Turkish Version of Bayer Activities of Daily Living Scale

Start date: July 26, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The aim of our study is to verify the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of B-GYA.

NCT ID: NCT05362643 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Effect of Acupuncture on Hemodialysis Patients

Start date: August 30, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The proposed randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluated the effect of acupuncture treatment on the functional capacity (FC) and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients receiving maintenance dialysis. A total of 60 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) from a dialysis centre (Portugal), were randomly assigned to acupuncture, sham and control group.

NCT ID: NCT05352529 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Assistive Technology and Reduced Caregiver Burden

ck
Start date: February 2, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The study investigated a six-week randomized controlled trial study in a small cohort of 16 family caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Family caregivers used assistive technology in the form of visual mapping software on smart devices in the experimental condition to support their care recipients in carrying out activities of daily living. Family caregivers in the control condition viewed educational videos about dementia care on their devices in supporting their individuals. The intervention was implemented for a total of 6 weeks. The investigators hypothesized that compared to the caregivers using educational videos, the caregivers using assistive technology will report improved quality of life and completion of activities of daily living for their care recipients, all the while reducing caregiver's burden and stress.

NCT ID: NCT04850586 Completed - Pain Clinical Trials

Structured Education and Multidisciplinary Team

Start date: March 1, 2019
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

It is well-known that pre-operative education has a positive effect on patient recovery. This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of structured education given by a multidisciplinary team (surgeon, anesthesiologist, and nurse) on pain, anxiety, and activities of daily living in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

NCT ID: NCT04793555 Completed - Aging Clinical Trials

Validation of the NeuroTec Loft

Start date: June 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The progression of neurodegenerative disorders and the increasing number of elderly people intensifies the need of institutional care, which contrasts with the desire of most elderly and patients to live independently at home. The rapid evolution of assistive technology offers new possibilities in providing medical professionals preventive services in real-time. Therefore, the main focus of this study is on the individual sensors and how they can be combined to one unobtrusive system to assess the human behaviour and daily activities during day and night in an instrumented apartment in healthy participants.

NCT ID: NCT04774562 Completed - Clinical trials for Patient Satisfaction

The Effect of Video-Assisted Discharge Education After Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Start date: September 4, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a video-assisted discharge education program on activities of daily living, functionality, and patient satisfaction after total hip replacement (THR) surgery. Methods: This study included 31 participants who were randomly divided in the physiotherapy (PT) group (n=18), and the video-assisted discharge education (VADE) group (n=13). Both groups received a physiotherapy program. VADE group was additionally received VADE program. In both groups, all education programs were given face to face. Data were collecting using visual analog scale (VAS), Harris Hip Score (HHS), Nottingham Extended Activities of Daily Living Scale (NEADL), Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) and Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire at 1st week and 3rd month. Practice Implications: The current study has contributed to the development of video-assisted health technologies.

NCT ID: NCT04744324 Completed - Stroke Clinical Trials

Self-supporting Care Model in Home Environment for Patients With Stroke

Start date: March 3, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

NCT ID: NCT04701827 Completed - Quality of Life Clinical Trials

Affective Disorders: Eliminate WArning Signs And REstore Functioning: AWARE

AWARE
Start date: December 15, 2020
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Affective disorders are associated with impaired functioning and quality of life, as well as comorbid somatic disorders and increased mortality. Despite different medical and psychological treatment options, the prognosis for affective disorder remains largely unchanged. Consequently, the field needs new intervention strategies especially targeting the patient groups having impaired functioning. The core idea of the AWARE project is to focus on improving functioning and quality of life in patients with affective disorders every-day life using a comprehensive 360 degrees intervention. The trial has a randomized, controlled, parallel-group design. Study participants will be 140 outpatients, male or female age 18-65 with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder or unipolar disorder, in a current state of remission, with an objectively rated impaired functioning. Participant will be randomized to six month AWARE intervention or treatment as usual (TAU). Assessments encompassing Activities of Daily Living (ADL), neuropsychological testing, mood ratings, physical health and questionnaires on subjective cognitive complaints, psychosocial functioning, quality of life are, sleep quality and satisfaction with psychiatric treatment are carried out at baseline and after the end of treatment. Discussion: It is hypothesised that the AWARE arm in comparison with standard care will improve observed ability to perform Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and improve Quality of Life.
