NCT ID: NCT01051297 Terminated - Clinical trials for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Venous Thromboembolism

OSAVTE
Start date: March 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

There is a clear link between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and cardiovascular disease. However, there has been no clear link between OSA and venous thromboembolism (VTE). The objective of this study is to evaluate such a link.

NCT ID: NCT01045759 Terminated - Clinical trials for DEEP VEIN THROMBOSIS

Point of Care Ultrasound (US) Versus Detailed Radiology US for Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Start date: November 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

We propose an observational study to assess the ability of intensivists to evaluate for deep vein thrombosis using 2 point compression ultrasonography.

NCT ID: NCT01042067 Suspended - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

Safer Warfarin Treatment

CYKOWAR
Start date: January 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The study is a national multicenter prospective observational study, including 200 patients. The main purpose of this study is to explore in more detail the influence of genetic variability (CYP enzymes and vitamin K dependent proteins) and dietary vitamin K status on warfarin dosing, clinical effect and adverse events with emphasis on the initial phase of treatment. The hypothesis is that genetic variability concerning CYP enzymes and vitamin K dependent proteins predict dosing and adverse events during warfarin treatment. The main aim is to individualize warfarin therapy and establish a treatment algorithm based on genotype and dietary vitamin K status to make the anticoagulation therapy with warfarin more secure.

NCT ID: NCT01037270 Completed - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

Evaluation of the Accuracy and Precision of the INRatio® Prothrombin Time (PT) Monitoring System With New INRatio Test Strip Designed for Low Sample Volume and Heparin Insensitivity

ECLIPSE-01
Start date: August 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

This is a multi-center study designed to evaluate the accuracy and precision of the INRatio® Prothrombin Time (PT) Monitoring System, utilizing the INRatio test strip newly designed for low sample volume and heparin insensitivity, when used by trained medical professionals for the quantitative determination of PT and International Normalized Ratio (INR) in fingerstick and venous whole blood from subjects on oral anticoagulation therapy (OAT). These results will be compared to those PT/INR results obtained on plasma from the same subjects as analyzed at a central laboratory with the Sysmex CA-560 System.

NCT ID: NCT01029821 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Deep Venous Thrombosis

Low-Molecular-Weight Heparin (LMWH) for Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) Prophylaxis

Start date: February 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

1. The use of LMWH following open reduction and internal fixation of ankle fractures will reduce the number of thrombi formed. 2. The rates of clinically significant DVT will be equivalent between two groups.

NCT ID: NCT01021488 Recruiting - Thrombosis Clinical Trials

Rosuvastatin for Preventing Deep Vein Thrombosis

STOP-DVT
Start date: October 2009
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)is devastating disease which influencing the mortality and morbidity of patients at-risk like those undergoing orthopedic surgery. Recent publication suggested HMO-co-A reductase inhibitor (statin) may reduce the occurrence rate of venous thromboembolism in apparently healthy persons. The pleiotropic property of statin like antioxidant, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory may have effect on the positive results. We are investigating whether rosuvastatin is associated with lower incidence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients undergoing total knee replacement arthroplasty(TKRA)who are at-high risk for developing DVT

NCT ID: NCT01007045 Completed - Clinical trials for Deep Vein Thrombosis

Limited Compression Ultrasound by Emergency Physicians to Exclude Deep Vein Thrombosis

Start date: November 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

Deep vein thrombosis is a common condition seen in the Emergency Department. Standard of care for diagnosis of DVT includes a combination of a clinical pre-test probability rule known as Well's criteria, D-dimer blood testing, and Radiology department ultrasound. The purpose of this study is to determine whether Emergency Physicians can safely rule out deep vein thrombosis using Well's criteria and D-dimer blood testing combined with Emergency department bedside ultrasound.

NCT ID: NCT01006083 Not yet recruiting - Clinical trials for Myocardial Infarction

Antiplatelet Therapy Continuation in Spine Surgery - Its Effect on Postoperative Morbidity and Mortality

Start date: January 2010
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The objective of this study is to evaluate the safety of antiplatelet (APA)therapy continuation in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery (laminectomy, discectomy and foraminotomy), and to gather evidence-based data regarding postoperative outcomes potentially related to APA management.

NCT ID: NCT00986154 Completed - Clinical trials for Venous Thromboembolism

Comparative Investigation of Low Molecular Weight (LMW) Heparin/Edoxaban Tosylate (DU176b) Versus (LMW) Heparin/Warfarin in the Treatment of Symptomatic Deep-Vein Blood Clots and/or Lung Blood Clots. (The Edoxaban Hokusai-VTE Study).

Start date: October 2009
Phase: Phase 3
Study type: Interventional

Evaluation of heparin/edoxaban tosylate (DU176b) versus heparin/warfarin in preventing recurrence of blood clots in patients with acute symptomatic deep-vein blood clots in the legs and/or blood clots in the lungs.

NCT ID: NCT00970892 Recruiting - Atrial Fibrillation Clinical Trials

VKORC1 and CYP2C9 Gene Polymorphisms and Warfarin Management

Start date: July 2009
Phase: N/A
Study type: Observational

The investigators aimed to use pharmacogenetic information in clinical practise which may lead to rapid, efficient, and safe warfarin dosing in this observational prospective study. In this context, the investigators plan to develop an algorithm for estimating the appropriate warfarin dose that is based on both clinical and genetic data from the Turkish study population. This study is unique not only investigating clinical factors, demographic variables, CYP2C9, and VKORC1 gene variations which contribute to the variability among patients in dose requirements for warfarin but also including thrombogenic single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the same patient population. Thus, warfarin would be a good example by being the first cardiovascular drug for pharmacogenetic guided "personalized medicine" applications.
