NCT ID: NCT03235453 Not yet recruiting - Parkinson Disease Clinical Trials

Dance for People With Parkinson's Disease

Start date: August 30, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The randomized clinical trial will aim to analyze the influence of binary and quaternary rhythm through a protocol on motor symptoms, sleep, fatigue and quality of life in individuals with Parkinson's disease. The study design with a randomized clinical trial, including individuals diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, will be divided into two groups: 1) Control group 2) Experimental group. Cognition, balance, gait freezing, functional mobility, quality of life, sleep, daytime sleepiness and fatigue will be evaluated. Through the application of binary and quaternary rhythm protocol for a period of 12 weeks. First, the descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation and percentage) will be used to know the data, then the normality calculation using the Kolmogorov Smirnov test will be used to choose the statistical tests. All information will be collected before and after the intervention period. For statistical analysis, use the SPSS statistical package, version 20.0. (Kolmogorov-Smirnov or Shapiro-Wilk test) for the selection of statistical tests.

Lung Dispersing, Turbid Descending and Gut Clearing Decoction for Bronchiectasis

LUNG-CLEAR
Start date: December 31, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Bronchiectasis is a chronic airway disease which confers significant healthcare burden, with limited therapeutic approaches. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, congenital insufficiency of the lung, spleen and kidney, when coupled with external injury or mood impairment, may collectively contribute to bronchiectasis pathogenesis due to heat trapping in the phlems, congestion of wind evils and stagnation of blood. Here, the investigators will explore the Lung Dispersing, Turbid Descending and Gut Clearing Decoction (LTGD) which targets at expelling the wind evil in patients with bronchiectasis. The investigators sought to conduct a multicenter, randomized cross-over trial which investigates the efficacy and safety of LTGD on clinically stable bronchiectasis.

Oncologic Therapy Support Via Means of a Dedicated Mobile App

OPTIMISE-1
Start date: July 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The present single-center prospective exploratory study, conducted at Heidelberg University Hospital, assesses the feasibility of introducing a concept for additional patient care based on a mobile application for patients undergoing radiotherapy. Patients presenting themselves for the irradiation of thoracic or pelvic tumors will be surveyed regarding general performance, treatment-related Quality of Life (QoL) and symptoms and their need to personally consult a physician on a treatment-daily basis by means of a mobile application. The primary endpoint of feasibility will be reached when 80% of the patients have successfully answered 80% of their respective questions scheduled for each treatment day. Furthermore, treatment-related patient satisfaction and diagnosis-related QoL is assessed by PSQ-18 and EORTC questionnaires at the end of radiotherapy and at the first follow-up.

Automatic Self Transcending Meditation (ASTM) in Patients With Dry Eye Disease

Start date: July 1, 2018
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Patients with dry eye disease (DED) will be randomized to Automatic Self Transcending Meditation (ASTM) plus Treatment as Usual (TAU) or TAU alone to assess changes in Health-related quality of life (HRQoL). HRQoL is a vital construct focusing on impact of health on quality of life. HRQoL data is used in economic evaluations, a component of health economics that compares the cost and consequences of alternative courses of action. This helps policy-makers make complex financial decisions. Along with HRQoL we will measure changes in extent of depression as well as anxiety. Previously published data lacks information of HRQoL in patients with DED. Through this study we shall attempt to correlate HRQoL in this population and assess if ASTM confers changes in HRQoL along with depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Group Intervention in the Nutritional Profile, Stress and Quality of Life in Patients in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation

Start date: April 1, 2017
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

To evaluate the effectiveness of a group intervention in the nutritional profile, in the stress and in the quality of life of patients in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. Method: Randomized clinical trial using a semi-structured interview, sociodemographic and anthropometric data collection, with 164 participants divided into a control group and intervention group, the Food Frequency Questionnaire, the Lipp Adult Stress Symptom Inventory (ISSL) ) And the SF-12 Quality of Life Assessment Questionnaire. To verify the difference in nutritional profile, stress levels and quality of life between the groups, the chi-square test will be used for categorical variables and within each group the comparison between the moments will be through the MC Nemar test. In the quantitative variables the evaluation of the interaction between group and time will be through Variance Analysis using the design in Repeated Measures. Considering a significance level p <0.05. Expected Results: It is believed that psychological and nutritional intervention in patients participating in therapeutic groups helps them to elaborate questions regarding the difficulties of coping with the disease in the daily routine and to understand the importance of lifestyle care and healthy habits.
