Filter by:The aim of the present study is to compare the effects of CCB and CCB+ high dose of statin therapy on the symptoms, function, and quality of life assessed by validated angina-specific questionnaire (Short-form Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ-7)), endothelial function as measured by FMD of the brachial artery, endothelial progenitor cells (EPC) and coronary flow reserve (CFR) in patients with VSA.
This study evaluates the effect of the education innovation program"chiquichefs" on anthropometric variables, quality of life and nutritional habits in an elementary school children. Compared with a control group of the same age but in another school.
Maintaining of improving the quality of life amongst the elderly with early phase dementia (EwD) is nowadays one of the key aims of health care services. When investigating the quality of life trajectories, it is necessary to examine contributing factors. The aim of the project is to ascertain the profile of quality of life trajectory amongst Czech EwD and to identify the most important factors affecting it. The results will be compared to the results from the elderly without dementia. A quantitative approach, longitudinal prospected design utilising a battery of questionnaires in the Czech language will be used. At the same time, translation and validation of the Czech version of QOL-AD and PDI will be carried out. The group of respondents will include EwD and elderly without dementia living in home environment. Knowledge of the quality of life trajectory and the factors involved will enable interventions to maintain or improve the quality of life of the elderly with early-stage dementia in home environment in future. Project Aims The aims are to ascertain the quality of life trajectory profile amongst the elderly with early phase dementia, to identify the most important factors involved and to compare the results to control group. Validation of the Czech versions of QOL-AD and PDI questionnaires will be performed.
Ovarian cancer is a major cause of cancer related death among women. The disease is usually advanced at diagnosis, because specialist referral is delayed due to vague nature of presenting symptoms. Primary treatment is successful, but most patients experience recurrence. Complaints due to disease and therapy overlap. Furthermore treatment schedules are similar in response rate and survival rates. Toxicity of therapy as scored by the physician is best documented, but varies depending on type of chemotherapy. Moreover most knowledge is acquired in clinical trials and not in daily practice. Patient reported outcome (PROs) concerning effects on symptoms, velocity of relief and quality of life (QoL) by the different regimens is sparce. Also it is unknown which symptoms are best relieved. Most trials take into account progression or survival as primary endpoint but not often symptom relief, which is especially important for patients with recurrent disease, without no chance of cure anymore. Knowledge on rating of problems and needs of patients with recurrent ovarian cancer (ROC) to support them in the course of their disease is needed to come to an evidence based and patient centered treatment of choice together with the patient. Physicians most frequently use the Common Toxicity Criteria (CTC) scale for grading of side effects of treatment, but discrepancies with patient experiences is high. Routine collection of PROs may therefore improve patient expectations and management. In this project the investigators intend to augment knowledge by PROs of different chemotherapy schedules for recurrent ovarian cancer in order to improve shared decision making with the physician. Objective: primary objective of this project is to explore the relief of symptoms due to ROC, the speed with which this occurs by different chemotherapy schedules and development of complaints due to the regimen of chemotherapy. Secondary the investigators intend (1) to assess preferential symptom relief by patients, (2) to correlate toxicity and symptoms of disease to tumor assessed response to chemotherapy and (3) to correlate symptom relief by psychosocial context.
The purpose of this study is to identify persons with high risk of frequent hospital admissions and by counselling by one in depth interview followed by frequent telephone contacts improve their quality of life and reduce their healthcare utilization.
SENIOR transplant Registry European transplant registry of senior renal transplant recipients (above the age of 65 years) receiving initial immunosuppression with tacrolimus once daily, mycophenolate and steroids to investigate long term outcomes on an observational basis.
The aim of this study is twofold; 1) to assess the psychometric properties of the Finnish version of the BODY-Q questionnaire, 2) to assess the effects of body contouring surgery using patient-reported outcome measures.
Survivors of high grade brain tumours frequently experience increases in distress, cognitive challenges, and lessened quality of life. At the same time a range of barriers can make it challenging for these individuals to come into the clinic for appropriate psychosocial support. The proposed study is therefore a feasibility study that is designed to develop a manualized, remotely delivered psychosocial intervention for this population and then to test the acceptability, feasibility, apparent efficacy, and areas for improvement of the developed intervention. Further, a remote neuropsychological testing procedure will be developed and implemented and analogous questions will be asked around this procedure.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the impact on quality of life, psychological health, sexuality and chronic pain of therapies which determine amenorrhea in symptomatic women with endometriosis, through the administration of self reported questionnaires. Amenorrhea in the first group is caused by balanced assumption of estroprogestins, in the second group is caused by GnRHa-induced hypoestrogenism.
Background: The individual's ability to sustain itself in the upright position, effectively adjusting the body's movements and reacting to external stimuli, postural control strategies represent essential activities of daily living. Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM-2) is considered a more problem of Public Health as having complications deficit in functional performance of the lower limbs and falls, which can interfere with the maintenance of balance, and is a strong predictor of functional limitations self referred. Aim: To assess quality of life and the answers neuromuscular balance and baropodometric after sensory-motor training in patients with type 2 diabetes. Method: To be recruited 50 volunteers aged between 45 to 64 years with DM-2, of both sexes, divided into two groups: 1) Guidelines and 2) Guidelines + sensory-motor training. Biomechanical data will be collected (balance, baropodometry, electromyography strength and joint position sense), as well as questionnaires ADDQoL and BESTest. The intervention will be twice a week for 45 minutes for 12 weeks, divided into three phases: heating, sensory-motor training and cool-down, with monitoring of blood pressure and blood glucose. There will be a follow up after 3 months of intervention. Statistical analysis will be used normality test to verify the data distribution and consistent statistical test for the appropriate comparisons within and between groups, and adopted a significance level of 5%. Expected Results: Considering previous studies that demonstrate improvement in postural balance static and dynamic responses under the forward training protocol sensorimotor disease Diabetes mellitus type 2, is expected to improve neuromuscular, balance, distribution plant, the joint position sense and the quality of life of voluntary DM-2. Keywords: physical therapy modalities, exercise therapy, postural balance, Diabetes Mellitus, quality of life.
