Effects of High-intensity Training Compared to Resistance Training in Cancer Patients Undergoing Radiotherapy

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of a high-intensity aerobic training and resistance training on fatigue in prostate, head and neck and rectum cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. A three-arm randomized controlled trial will be conducted. Patients will be randomised into either a high-intensity aerobic training group or a resistance training group or a control group. Participants in the training groups will exercised for five to eight weeks. Exercise sessions will be take place 3 days per week under the supervision of an experienced therapist. Subjects will be assessed at baseline and post-intervention. The primary outcome will be fatigue measured using the FACIT-fatigue questionnaire. The secondary outcomes will be: functional capacity, quality of life, executive functions, sleep disturbances, somnolence syndrome, insomnia, depression symptoms.

Robotic Stereotactic Radiation treatment of prostatic adenocarcinoma of the elderly. Inclusion criteria : T1-T3b, MRI pelvic nodes negative, M0, any Gleason Score, PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) <30ng/ml. Dose : 36.25 Gy in 5 fractions, in 10 days, considering CAPRA Scores≤5 AND 37.5 Gy in 5 fractions, in 10 days, considering CAPRA Scores>5. Primary objective : acute and late toxicity evaluation at 36 months. Secondary objectives : PSA and MRI response.

Hypo-fractionated Postoperative IMRT in Prostate Cancer

To report the outcome of hypo-fractionated radiotherapy after radical prostatectomy (RP) for prostate cancer (PCa) using IMRT-SIB. 124 patients with PCa at high risk of relapse after RP or diagnosis of biochemical relapse were included. Patients received 62.5 Gy to the prostate bed (PB) and 45 Gy to pelvis nodes in 25 fractions. Androgen suppressive therapy was prescribed based on NCCN risk categories. Median follow-up was 30 months.

Effect of Ramosetron on Heart Rate-corrected QT Interval During Robot-assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy With Steep Trendelenburg Position

Intraperitoneal insufflation of carbon dioxide may affect the sympathetic activity that leads to changes in ventricular re-polarization. This in turn can result in changes of heart rate-corrected QT (QTc) interval. Ramosetron is a 5-hydroxytryptamine three receptor antagonist and widely used anti-emetics. However, QTc interval prolongation has been observed in a number of patients after administration of 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of ramosetron on QTc interval and possible cardiovascular adverse effects during robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy with steep Trendelenburg position.

Genetic Biomarker Discovery for Metastatic Prostate Cancer

Biomarkers from circulating cell-free tumor DNA in peripheral blood will identify patients with metastatic prostate cancer diagnosed with C11 choline PET/CT who will benefit from metastasis-directed radiation, ablative therapies, and/or surgery. Tissue and blood will be collected before treatment. If patients receive androgen deprivation, then blood will be collected after neoadjuvant androgen deprivation but before radiation, ablative therapies, or surgery. Subsequent samples will be obtained at 3 months and 6 months following treatment, after which no further patient contact will occur.

Culture-guided Antimicrobial Prophylaxis in Men Undergoing Prostate Biopsy.

This study aims to assess the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of rectal swab culture-guided antimicrobial prophylaxis to reduce infectious complications after transrectal prostate biopsy. Half of participants will receive routine empirical prophylaxis with oral ciprofloxacin (control group), while the other half will receive rectal culture-guided oral antibiotic prophylaxis (intervention group). In the intervention group, men whose rectal swabs do not show ciprofloxacin-resistant bacteria will receive ciprofloxacin prophylaxis, comparable to the control group. In case of ciprofloxacin-resistant bacteria an alternative oral antibiotic based on the culture results will be prescribed (trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, fosfomycin or pivmecillinam/augmentin). The investigators hypothesise that the targeted prophylaxis group (intervention group) will have a lower rate of post-biopsy infectious complications compared to the control group.
