Filter by:Pathological and clinical studies have consistently demonstrated that abnormalities in thrombosis and hemostasis play a major role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and atherothrombosis. Screening for abnormalities in thrombosis and hemostasis by measuring platelet activity, thrombin generation, and markers of coagulation have been proposed to identify individuals at high-risk for cardiovascular events, however, it remains a research tool not ready for implementation in standard care. The proposed study will add to the growing understanding of platelet activity and markers of coagulation in cardiovascular disease; examine a comprehensive battery of platelet activity markers, thrombin generation, markers of coagulation, and inflammatory biomarkers in subjects undergoing vascular surgery; and will provide important data on the mechanism of increased platelet activity using micro RNA, RNA and DNA expression profiling. The study design is prospective and the main outcome measures are platelet activity, coagulation markers and incident cardiovascular and bleeding events.

The primary aim of the study is to determine the effect of a community-based walking exercise program with detailed training, monitoring, and coaching (TMC) exercise components enhanced by community-based participatory research (CBPR) practices (TMC+) on the primary outcome of peak walking time (PWT) in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD).
The study is intended to evaluate the safety and feasibility of using the Intact Vascular (Innovasc) Tack-It Endovascular Dissection Repair System (Tack Intravascular Staple System) in patients with vascular flaps in the infrainguinal due post-angioplasty dissection.
The registry will enroll patients with claudication or critical limb ischemia and angiographically significant lesion(s) in arteries of the lower extremity. Subjects will be treated with the Lutonix® Drug Coated Balloon Catheter for approved indications according to the current country-specific Instructions for Use (IFU) and followed clinically for 1 year.
In patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI) and foot ulcers wound healing is an important goal which can normally only be achieved after sufficient treatment of the underlying ischemia (revascularization either by an operation, e. g. bypass, or a catheter intervention). After successful revascularization everything should be done to improve wound healing because this regularly takes weeks up to several months. One possibility to speed up healing could be treatment with the VADOplex device which delivers an automatic intermittent painless compression of the sole of the foot thereby increasing perfusion of the leg. This system can be easily operated by patients themselves and at home. Our goal is to prove that the VADOPlex system accelerates healing up and improves quality of life.
The primary objective of this study is to prove the superior performance of the Rangerâ„¢ paclitaxel-coated PTA balloon catheter for angioplasty for femoropopliteal artery lesions when compared to non-coated balloons at six months post-procedure when comparing Late Lumen Loss (LLL). Study statistical hypothesis: The %-mean loss of luminal diameter as assessed by angiography at six months follow-up after treatment of the femoropopliteal artery with Ranger DCB study devices is lower than the %-mean loss of luminal diameter after treatment with uncoated PTA balloon control devices.
Non-randomized multicenter post-market study to confirm the long-term safety and effectiveness of the CE-approved Camouflage-coated self-expandable RESISTANT Camouflage stent system for revascularization of de novo stenotic lesions in the superficial femoral artery in 100 compliant patients suitable for stent angioplasty. The CE-approved device will be used according to its intended use. Beyond the standard of care no further interventions are scheduled. Therefore, this trial is subject to the exception to the rule §23b of the German Medical Device Act (MPG), which includes the national implementation of EC directive 93/42/EEC.
This study is looking to see if niacin will lessen atherosclerotic plaque inflammation and favorably affect circulating levels of endothelial progenitor cells and microparticles in people with atherosclerotic disease on chronic statin therapy.
The overarching question addressed in the current project is: Does dietary nitrate supplementation (8 weeks) improve physiological function in patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD)? The investigators will specifically address whether dietary nitrate supplementation enhances blood vessel function, blood pressure regulation, and exercise capacity. The proposed project uses an array of clearly defined measurements which will allow investigators to quantify blood vessel function (vasodilator responsiveness and arterial stiffness), blood pressure (variability and responsiveness to stress), and functional capacity before and after 8 weeks of dietary supplementation.
