Filter by:This study is randomized, open-lable, parallel-group and comparator-controlled. 456 consecutive patients with acute ischemic stroke admitted within the first 72 hours after onset of symptoms will be studied. Those patients who will be randomly assigned to receive 2 different treatment for the first 3 days of hospitalization(non-statin-therapy group) or to immediately receive rosuvastatin orally at a dose of 20mg daily (statin-therapy group). From the fourth day onward, rosuvastatin 10 mg daily will be administered in all patients. The total trial will be continued 12 months. mRS will be investigated at baseline, 3rd month, 12th month ;MMSE and Montreal tests will be investigated at baseline and 12th month. Laboratory data including serum lipids, Fg and hs-CRP.Among these, serum lipids will be tested at baseline, 8th day, 3rd month, 6th month, and 12th month; hs-CRP will be tested at baseline and 8th day, 3rd month; Fg will be tested at baseline, 8th day, 3rd month. Safety will be also assessed by adverse event reports and clinical laboratory data including CK-MB, renal and hepatic function at 3rd month, 6th month,12th month.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the prevalence of sleep disturbances in children with Chronic Otitis Media with Effusion (COME) and the effect of tympanostomy tube insertion (TTI) on sleep disturbances.
Multicenter, prospective, open-label, cohort study. Primary objective: Determination of the predictive value of US alone and in combination with cartilage biodegradation markers on radiographic progression (change in Ratingen score) Secondary objectives: - Correlation of ultrasound synovitis score and clinical disease activity score - Determination of the sensitivity of ultrasound erosion detection compared to MRI - Assessment of the value of including tenosynovitis assessment for predicting radiographic progression - Assessment of the predictive value of ultrasound synovitis score at baseline for the need to install biologic DMARDs
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) are a rare vascular condition affecting the lungs. PAVMs lead to low blood oxygen levels, yet are very well tolerated by patients. This study will examine the exercise capacity of PAVM patients using formal cardiopulmonary exercise tests performed on a stationary bicycle, and whether this is affected by the presence of concurrent airflow obstruction, such as due to asthma.
Study purpose To establish efficacy and safety of a reduced immunosuppressive therapy with tacrolimus once daily for senior (>65 years of age) renal transplant recipients
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of pharmaceutical care, compared to usual care, in improving medication adherence behaviour of ambulatory hemodialysis patients.
This pilot study was designed to evaluate the pharmacokinetic characteristics of fluticasone, salmeterol, and tiotropium after co-administration of HCP 0910 (Seretide 250 diskus) and HGP1011 (Spiriva capsule for inhalation) which are prescribed concomitantly for the patients with COPD.
Effect of mosapride 30mg/day on the small bowel and colon transit time in patients with chronic constipation or constipated irritable bowel syndrome.
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension causes progressive right heart hypertrophy, dilatation and dysfunction. Surgical treatment is pulmonary endarterectomy, which although only carried out in a single UK centre, provides an excellent model for assessing right ventricular function. Right heart function is most commonly assessed using echocardiography, either transthoracic pre- and post-operatively, or transoesophageal intra-operatively. Measurement of tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion is the best validated and most commonly performed measurement for right heart function, however it may be inaccurate after sternotomy and pericardial opening, making accurate assessment difficult immediately after surgery. Therefore, we aim to compare established methods of assessing right heart function with 3-dimensional echocardiographic reconstruction of the ventricle, using a novel reconstruction mechanism. Right ventricular function will be assessed in 51 patients who undergo pulmonary endarterectomy surgery at baseline, after the pericardium has been opened, following the surgical procedure, using transoesophageal echocardiography, and at six-month outpatient followup using transthoracic echocardiography, as 3D-reconstruction is valid using both modalities. This comparison should allow the investigators to determine whether such a method could replace current measurement parameters for assessment of right ventricular function, which is important for clinical management of patients in a variety of settings.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the ability of an imaging device, developed by AdOM Advanced Optical Technologies Ltd. ("AdOM"). The device allows a three-dimensional imaging of the ocular tissues, specifically the tear film layers and the retinal layers. The device is based on the use of white light. In this initial study, the device will be used to assess the tear film which coats the corneal surface in healthy subjects as well as in moderate-to-severe Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS) or Dry Eye Syndrome (DES). The ability of the device to assess the retinal layers will be evaluated in the second phase of the study.
