CALIF study is a monocentric observational study which aim is to analyse the value of adding procalcitonin (PCT, a pre-hormon increased in bacterial infection and septicaemia) in the management of chemo-induced febrile neutropenia occurring in patient with solid tumour. Febrile neutropenia will be managed according to international guidelines. PCT will be dosed at initial presentation. Primary objective is to determine the optimal value of PCT for the detection of septicaemia in low risk (according to MASCC score). The investigators plan also to compare two risk stratification scores: the validated MASCC score and a recently developed score which includes PCT and other more objective items.

A window of opportunity study which would allow brief treatment of HPV negative SCCHN with a CDK4/6 inhibitor, in the pre-operative setting, with biomarker analyses of pre and post treatment tissue. Given that the standard treatment for this population is surgical resection, this would not impact or alter standard therapy for this population. The goal will be to learn more about the alterations in pRB1 levels, as well as other signaling markers, in order to be able to eventually plan a biomarker driven treatment study.

This is a two-arm parallel group randomized controlled trial at the Department of Reproductive Medicine at Ghent University Hospital. Women >=18 and <37 years of age undergoing their first or second IVF/ICSI treatment, with at least 2 good quality blastocysts remaining after fresh embryo transfer will be randomized to either transfer of a cryopreserved blastocyst selected based on morphology (standard treatment arm) or transfer of a cryopreserved blastocyst selected based on PGS and morphology (intervention treatment arm).

Dexamethasone, Flurbiprofen Axetil and Long-term Survival After Lung Cancer Surgery

Surgical resection is the first choice treatment for patients with non-small-cell lung cancer. Despite of advances in surgical techniques, the long-term survival rate of postoperative patient is far from optimal. In a recent retrospective cohort study of the applicants, 588 patients after surgery for non-small-cell lung cancer were followed up for a medium of 5.2 years. The results showed that perioperative use of dexamethasone was associated with prolonged survival; perioperative use of flurbiprofen axetil was also associated with a slightly longer survival but not statistically significant. Further analysis showed that combined administration of dexamethasone and flurbiprofen axetil had additive effect in prolonging survival. We hypothesize that, for patients undergoing surgery for non-small-cell lung cancer, perioperative administration of dexamethasone and flurbiprofen axetil may improve long-term survival. However, evidences from randomized controlled trials are still lacking in this aspect.

The purpose of this study will be to prospectively evaluate the outcomes of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who undergo DEB-TACE (drug-eluting bead trans-arterial chemoembolization) with the Surefire Precision Infusion System for intentional effect of down-staging patients to OLT. Patients with HCC and who are considered candidates for liver transplantation but outside Milancriteria and meet the eligibility criteria will be enrolled in the prospective single arm study. Results of the prospective cohort will be compared to matched historical control patients who were previously treated with DEB-TACE, delivered with standard endhole catheters. This includes all patients treated at the University of Colorado since 2009 treated with 100-300 micron beads for whom follow-up is available.
