Evaluation of Invisible Preparation Behaviors of Middle and High School Students in Sports Facilities (PRICELESS)

The investigators define the Invisible Preparation (IP) as the set of health behaviors that young athletes implement, on their own, to optimize their health and performances. This includes sleep, nutrition and hydration, physical well-being (injuries prevention) and mental well-being. If some studies have reported a lack of compliance in young athletes regarding sleep and hydration recommendations, the literature is poor in this field. The CMS (Brest Metropolitan Area Sports Medicine Centre, France) aims at preserving the health of young athletes. Prior to their medical examination, the patients will be asked, all along the year 2024, to fill out a form that question them about their health behaviors in the four areas of the IP. Under the direction of the Brest University Hospital, PRICELESS (Invisible Preparation of Middle and High School Students in Sports Institutions) study will try, based on their answers, to estimate the proportion of young athletes who declare adopting the health behaviors recommended in the IP.

Early Nutrition Intervention for M1 Stage Cancer Patients

In China, the treatment of advanced-stage cancer often follows a pattern where the management of patients is primarily overseen by oncologists who focus on addressing the main clinical symptoms and intervening accordingly. However, symptoms such as appetite loss, weight loss, and anxiety are often overlooked. It is common for clinical nutritionists to passively enter oncology wards to conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments and develop nutrition plans only when patients exhibit significant malnutrition, upon request from oncologists or patients and their families. Against this background, the investigators integrated clinical nutritionists into the oncology treatment team and established a proactive nutritional intervention team specifically targeting M1 advanced-stage cancer patients. This initiative aims to conduct a single-center, open-label, randomized parallel-group prospective study, with the following objectives: 1) to evaluate the impact of this model on the nutritional status, survival, and quality of life of advanced-stage cancer patients, and 2) to further optimize this model for widespread replication in clinical practice.

Assessment Metabolic Flexibility in Middle-aged Individuals: The Nutritional Impact of Cheese Consumption

The aim of the study will be to evaluate the impact of consumption of meat and dairy products from extensive or intensive farming on apparently healthy individuals aged between 45 and 65 years, a stage of life associated with reduced metabolic flexibility and changes in lipid metabolism. The study will analyze: 1. The transcription factor PPAR-α determined by the gene expression of PPAR-α in white blood cells, variations in circulating fatty acid metabolism, and the endocannabinoid system determined by circulating analysis of N-acylethanolamine (NAE), and 2-monoacylglycerols (2-MG); 2. Metabolic flexibility, determined by indirect calorimetry in fasting condition during an incremental exercise; 3. Body composition, determined by bioimpedance analysis, waist circumference, and waist-to-hip ratio.

The Stanislas Cohort is a monocentric familial longitudinal cohort originally comprised of 1006 families consisting of two parents and at least two biological children and deemed healthy, recruited in 1993-1995 at the Centre for Preventive Medicine of Nancy. This cohort was established with the primary objective of investigating gene-gene and gene-environment interactions in the field of cardiovascular diseases. The 5th visit of the STANISLAS Cohort will allow a better evaluation of the cardiovascular ageing of the population and the transition toward cardiovascular or renal diseases in relation with their genetic profile and environment.

The goal of this clinical trial is to determine the impact of a home-delivered foods and kitchen skills program on health and nutrition in adults with high blood pressure and food insecurity. Researchers will compare Food Resources & Kitchen Skills (FoRKS) and Enhanced Usual Care (EUC) to evaluate the effects on mean systolic blood pressure (SPB), HbA1c, food security and nutrition. Participants will complete 24-hr blood pressure monitoring, standard blood pressure measurements, weight, blood draw, and questionnaires.

Multidisciplinary Telerehabilitation Practices in Autism

The study, titled The Effect of Physiotherapy and Nutrition Services Provided by Telerehabilitation Methods on the Physical, Nutritional and Psychological Conditions of Children with Autism and Their Families, aimed to evaluate the effects of physiotherapy and nutrition education to be given to the participants. Participants were children with autism spectrum disorder and parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. There will be surveys that researchers will ask participants to answer. Parent telerehabilitation group participants via smartphone video conferencing; Researchers involved in this project; A physiotherapist and a physiotherapist senior physiotherapy intern will send 1 session of online simultaneous exercise training to the parent telerehabilitation group participants, then an exercise video containing the exercises and brochures will be sent and the parent telerehabilitation group participants will be asked to do the exercises 3 days a week. Participants will be asked to keep an exercise diary and the status of the diaries will be monitored once a week. Additionally, the concepts of physical activity and recreational activity in autism will be explained to the participants. Again, via smartphone video conferencing, the researchers participating in this project; 3 different nutrition trainings will be given by 1 dietitian and 1 senior dietitian trainee within the scope of basic nutrition and nutrition-health information at 15-day intervals. Waist, hip and height measurements of autistic child participants will be measured with a tape measure, and their body weight will be measured with a scale. The study will last 2 months.

Postprandial Monocyte Study

The purpose of this research is to determine the role of a type of immune cell in blood, called a non-classical monocytes (NCMs), following consumption of a high-fat meal. Previous studies have found that monocytes are important for blood vessel health. In this study, two different high-fat meals will be used to study the effect of different types of dietary fat on postprandial NCMs. The investigators will characterize NCMs in both fasting conditions and following consumption of two different high-fat meals, and will evaluate whether the type of fat in a meal affects NCMs in blood.

Nutrition for Precision Health, Powered by the All of Us

The goal of this investigational study is to develop algorithms that predict human response to foods. The main question it aims to answer are: - How does varying foods and eating patterns impact one's biological and physiological responses? - In what ways can novel dietary assessment measures be used to improve dietary assessments and to prescribe assessments to people in future research with increased precision? - Can artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques be combined to prescribe foods and eating patterns to individuals for optimization of their health? There are 3 Modules participants may take part in: - Module 1- A participant's dietary intake and accompanying nutritional status, biological and other measures will be observed over 10 days, as well as physiological responses to a liquid mixed meal tolerance test will be measured. - Module 2- Participants will undergo three controlled dietary interventions provided for 14-days each and separated by washout periods of at least 14 days. Physiological responses following a diet-specific meal test will be measured. - Module 3- Participants will undergo the same three dietary interventions during the same 14 day periods as Module 2 while being studied in-residence. Physiological responses following a liquid mixed meal tolerance test and a diet-specific meal test will be measured.
