Filter by:This study will be carried out on 100 patients with chronic musculoskeletal disorders who applied to Acıbadem Maslak Hospital Orthopedics and Traumatology Department. Demographic information (age, education level, occupation, marital status) will be obtained from the patients, they will be asked whether they have a chronic musculoskeletal disease diagnosed by the doctor, and they will be asked to fill in the PROMIS 29 and SF-36 v2 questionnaires. The PROMIS 29 questionnaire contains 4 questions from each of the seven contents of PROMIS (physical function, depression, anxiety, fatigue, sleep disorder, participation in social activities and pain interaction) and 1 question from the intensity of pain. Each item has 5 answer options (from 1 to 5), only pain intensity has 11 answer options (from 0 to 10). From the sum of the answers to each question in the domain, the total raw score for each domain is calculated, resulting in seven domain scores, each between 4 and 20. SF-36 is the most widely used scale to assess general health status, and 36 items question 8 content (physical function, physical role, pain, general health, social function, energy / fitness, social function, emotional role, mental health). The Turkish translation of the PROMIS 29 questionnaire is presented in ANNEX-2. The translation of the PROMIS 29 questionnaire into Turkish was made by Northwestern University according to the FACIT translation method. Its Turkish translation was obtained from Northwestern University by signing a license agreement for use in scientific research. Participants will first be asked to sign the informed consent form electronically. PROMIS 29 and SF-36 v2 forms will be sent to the volunteers via e-mail and will be asked to respond via an internet-based questionnaire platform. The external validity of the PROMIS 29 questionnaire will be evaluated by its correlation with the SF-36 v2, a similar general health profile questionnaire. To evaluate inter-rater test-retest reliability, both scales will be filled in by patients a second time between 7-14 days.
This study is based on previous studies on the search of the limit of the peri-personal space. In a previous study, Gouzien et al. (2017) evaluated the peri-personal space of action of patients with upper limb amputations and sought a link between this space and the level of integration of their myoelectric prosthesis. We have decided to implement part of this protocol to evaluate the peri-personal space for another population with upper limb patholog: segmental exclusion of the upper limb. Exclusion is a phenomenon that is very little studied but known to orthopedic surgeons and physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians. It is characterized by the non-use or underuse of a limb segment in the absence of central nervous system involvement. This phenomenon is compared to peripheral neglect. Most of the time, the patient is unaware of his disorder "he forgets his finger without realizing it", but this phenomenon can be reversible under verbal exhortation from a third party. The aim of this study is to observe if there is a change in peri-personal space in patients with unilateral segmental exclusion.
The objective of this study is to identify the minimum effective dosage of a mixture of two local anaesthetic drugs called 'levobupivacaine' and 'lignocaine with epinephrine" used to produce an effective ultrasound guided selective trunk block for surgical anaesthesia of the upper limb.
The global prevalence of Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) ranges from 14% to as high as 42%. In addition WHO also estimates that 40% of people over the age of 60 years suffer from MSD and about 80% of the people have had low back pain at some point in their life. In Pakistan, to estimate the prevalence of MSD, there is no data available based on the local population. Locally, studies were conducted on the specific subject pools mainly considering the work related musculoskeletal disorders and backache. However, no real data is available for the symptomatic management of painful musculoskeletal disorders in multiple settings to calculate more generalizable results. So this study is planned and if we found good results then it will help physicians to prescribe the above said medicine to all such cases.

This study aims to investigate the relationship between pain, gait and activity intensity in HTO patients that are healed and have had their fixation plate removed. Inclusion criteria are: unilateral HTO with no concurrent procedure performed, fixation plate has since been removed, no subsequent operations performed on the lower limbs (hips to feet). Control participants will be recruited through local advertisements in and around the University of Winchester. Inclusion criteria for the control subjects are: no current pain in the lower limbs, no previous surgery on the lower limbs. Control subjects will also be age-matched to the HTO group. Knee function and pain scores will first be assessed through the implementation of a Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, a Visual Analogue Scale, and a further pain intensity scale. Once this has been done, resting heart rate (HR) and body mass index (BMI) will also be measured as part of the completion of a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). A G-Walk gait analysis sensor, which has been validated for use in clinical settings, will then be attached to participants in order to measure spatiotemporal gait parameters during testing. Each participant will then conduct a series of four walking and four jogging test protocols, each lasting three minutes, on a flat treadmill. The intensity at which the participant must walk or jog during each test will be self-regulated and determined by a rating of perceived exertion (RPE) of 9, 11, 13 or 15 on a 6-20 Borg scale. All participants will be verbally anchored to the Borg scale before conducting the first walk/jog test. The order in which the tests are performed will be randomised in advance of each test session. Half way through each test (90 seconds), participants will be presented with a VAS and pain intensity scale to indicate the current level of pain they are experiencing in their knee. At this stage, they will also be asked to confirm that they are still maintaining the target RPE of that particular test. Once a test is finished, participants will complete another VAS and pain intensity scale and rest in a seated position until their heart rate returns to their pre-determined resting level before the next test commences. The leg for which healthy controls report pain levels will be chosen randomly prior to the test session.
