Physical and Functional Effects of Online Exercise Program on Musicians Playing Stringed Instruments

Musculoskeletal problems related to instrument playing or performance are frequently seen in musicians. Different interventions such as strength training, endurance training and yoga have been used in the management of these problems. The first specific exercise program for professional orchestra musicians was developed by Chan et al. However, it has been stated that it is difficult to encourage musicians' participation in exercise due to their constantly changing work schedules, and at this point, the use of digital media such as DVDs, USBs, and educational exercise videos may have a potential role. On the other hand, it has been stated that smart wearable devices with mobile applications (such as smart watches, smart band) as digital health interventions are an interesting, interactive and efficient psychological strategy to promote physical activity and can be used as an intervention to promote a healthy lifestyle. Based on the literature, in our study, the exercise program developed by Chan et al., will be done online via "Google Meet" and symptoms can be evaluated with objective evaluation methods. Unlike other studies using digital media, exercises will be performed synchronously and feedback will be given to the musicians simultaneously, as in face-to-face exercises. In addition, all participants will be given a smart band, they will be encouraged to use it until the end of the study, and the change in their physical activity levels will be evaluated.

Postural and Muscle Fatigue Analysis of Endodontic Residents

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a significant occupational health problem for dentists and have been linked to a decline in quality of life, often leading to stress-related illnesses and early retirement. Poor posture, poor movement or imbalances in the neck or shoulders can lead to the three most common pain syndromes in dentistry. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the working position adopted during an endodontic procedure and to determine the perception of symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders in first and second year students of the Master in Advanced Endodontics at the European University of Madrid (UEM), using the standardised Nordic Kuorinka questionnaire supplemented by a form with socio-demographic variables. This study has a descriptive cross-sectional observational design and included 10 students selected by convenience sampling. A video camera was used to record the procedures from three different angles for a maximum of 5 minutes. The information was processed using Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software, and the video recordings were assessed using Rodgers' Muscular Fatigue Analysis (RMFA) and Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA).

Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Complaints in Nursing Home Residents

The goal of this observational study is to investigate the prevalence of joint complaints in nursing home residents with and without dementia. Primary objective: Number of tender or swollen joints. Secondary objectives: 1. Only when it is possible for the nursing home resident to provide us this information: how nursing home residents themselves assess the severity of their joint complaints that day (at that time). If the nursing home resident cannot answer this question (reliably), we use the Pain Assessment Checklist for Seniors with Severe Dementia (PACSLAC-D). 2. Investigate mobility limitations among nursing home residents. 3. To understand whether an accurate (differential) diagnosis for the joint complaints is reported in the electronic files. During the study, a standard physical examination of the musculoskeletal system will performed. Nursing home residents allocated in group 1 (no dementia) also provide an answer on 3 non-incriminating questions (severity of joint complaints, pain in general and general health). Nursing home residents allocated in group 2 (dementia) answer, if possible, 1 non-incriminating question (pain in joints at that moment). These question(s) and the physical examination are also widely used in daily clinical practice. No further incriminating questions or questionnaires will be administered. If the nursing home resident cannot answer this question (reliably), we use the PACSLAC-D.

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of the limbs and spine are painful conditions of the periarticular soft tissues (muscles, tendons, vessels, etc.) and peripheral nerves secondary to overuse of occupational origin. They can manifest as pain (the most common symptom), discomfort, stiffness, loss of precision in movements or loss of strength. The lumbar spine and upper limbs are the parts of the body most frequently affected by MSDs. MSDs have a multifactorial origin that can be separated into 2 categories: factors linked to the individual (age, sex, medical history) and factors linked to the work environment (biomechanical constraints, work organization, psychosocial risks). MSDs are the leading cause of compensated occupational illnesses in France (86% of occupational illnesses in 2021, according to the Health Insurance annual report), particularly in the agricultural sector to which the majority of professions in green spaces belong. . If, in the Grand Est of France, the prevalence of employees exposed to physical risks decreased in the majority of sectors of activity between 1994 and 2017, we note at the same time a slight increase in the prevalence in the agricultural sector over this period. same period (6% in 2017 compared to 3.7% in 1994, SUMER 2017 survey). Concerning the current context in France, the green spaces sector has undergone changes in recent years following the national implementation of the Ecophyto plan in 2008 (updated in 2015 then in 2018). This plan, the latest version of which is called Ecophyto 2+, aims to reduce the use of plant protection products by 50% by 2025. At the same time, the use of plant protection products for the maintenance of green spaces, forests, roads and walks have been prohibited by the Labbé law since January 1, 2017. In this context, and given the absence of recent data from the literature on this subject in France, the investigator wishes to carry out an inventory recent physical and organizational constraints, as well as the prevalence of MSDs, in the green space sector (targeting more particularly in its study the green spaces of the Territorial Civil Service of the Grand Est)

Education Importance and Pain Belief Differences Among Patients Who Underwent Orthopedic Surgery

The assessment of pain plays a crucial role in pain management. Nurses are instrumental in the identification, evaluation, and initiation of pain management strategies. In the literature, it is strongly recommended to provide education about postoperative pain management to patients, their families, and those responsible for patient care. Additionally, the development of a pain management plan and goals is advocated. The optimal timing, content, and objectives of patient education depend on the type of pain (acute or chronic), the availability and effectiveness of treatment, and the patient's level of education and literacy. Educating individuals undergoing elective surgery or outpatient treatment about the likelihood and magnitude of acute pain they may experience, as well as informing them about available methods to prevent or alleviate this pain, is critical for pain management. Shindo et al. conducted a study suggesting that perioperative pain education significantly reduces postoperative opioid use. According to the Health Belief Model, an individual's perception of health is influenced by their perception of the value of health, beliefs about illness, and beliefs about the consequences of illness. Therefore, when a patient's health beliefs and attitudes are determined, health education and treatment planning can be tailored more appropriately.
