Filter by:Despite established implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) therapy and catheter ablation for sustained ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), the efficacy of catheter ablation in patients with nonsustained VT has been not yet clarified. The incidence of appropriate ICD therapy itself has been reported to be a worse prognostic factor in patients with reduced LVEF. Therefore theoretically the inhibition of these ventricular incidences can result in the prognostic improvement.To suppress ventricular arrhythmias aside from antiarrhythmic agents, catheter ablation has been developed prominently in this decade along with the technological improvement such as irrigated ablation catheters, three-dimensional mapping systems, multi-polar catheters, and image integration system with CT and MRI. The rationale of this trial is to study the efficacy of the eradication of arrhythmogenic substrate in ischemic cardiomyopathy with reduced LVEF and nonsustained VT on prevention of the occurrence of sustained VT/VF and ICD therapies.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) and, if indicated, invasively measured fractional flow reserve (FFR) is currently used for ruling out significant coronary artery disease. FFRCT is a novel non-invasive technique in which FFR is derived from CT images, however this method is currently, just like CCTA, lacking specificity. Spectral Detector CT (SDCT) is a novel technique whereby a spectrum of monoenergetic images at different kiloelectron Volt (keV) values (40 to 200 keV) can be reconstructed. By using these monoenergetic images, a decrease in blooming and beam-hardening artifacts could be achieved. In addition, SDCT offers the opportunity to assess myocardial iodine distribution and quantification. When combining these factors, we hypothesize more accurate information will be available about the coronary anatomy, degree of stenosis and FFRCT and thereby contribute to a more accurate way for the detection of hemodynamic significant stenosis. Therefore, the aim of this study is to assess the accuracy of SDCT as a non-invasive way for the detection of hemodynamically significant coronary artery stenosis. Objective: The overall objective of this project is to assess the accuracy of SDCT for the detection of flow limiting stenosis in the coronary arteries using invasive FFR as the standard of reference. Whereby different sub-aims (e.g. improvement of FFRCT) are made to answer the overall objective. The secondary objective is to determine the decrease of calcium blooming of calcifications and beam-hardening artifacts and the improvement of myocardial blood volume quantification on SDCT in comparison with conventional CT.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the mortality and frequency of organ dysfunction in patients after endovascular thoracoabdominal aortic surgery, and to search for biomarkers of organ dysfunction, in particular the spinal cord, the kidneys and the gastrointestinal tract. All adult patients undergoing endovascular thoracoabdominal aortic surgery at Örebro University Hospital, Örebro, Sweden, are asked for participation in this study. All participating patients sign informed consent at the inclusion. During the operation and during the postoperative intensive care, the function of the spinal cord, the gastrointestinal tract and the kidneys are collected along with other clinical parameters. Plasma blood samples, urin samples and cerebrospinal fluid samples are collected from each patient during the operation and during the postoperative care at the intensive care unit. During the operation two microdialysis catheters are placed in the abdomen, and the samples are continuously collected and analyzed. The biomaterial samples are stored in a biobank for later determination of proteins and other molecules. Postoperative survival and the frequency of complications are analysed.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and safety of umbilical cord milking in depressed neonates at birth for prevention of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
Through 5 years continuous observation of acute ischemic stroke patients in Neurology Department of Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, clinical data about emergency treatment (neurological score, examination and treatment), medical data after admission (neurological score, inspection, examination and treatment) and long-term prognosis (neurological score) was collected. The outcomes were set as the score scale, all blood test index and examination index of the research objects at specific period after illness. Through statistical analysis and comparison of different in-hospital clinical data in predicting the outcome of the patients, our study will provide more evidence-based solutions for the treatment and prediction of acute ischemic stroke.
Scalp acupuncture formed by combining traditional Chinese acupuncture techniques and modern theories in medical anatomy has been widely used to treat ischemic stroke in China, but effective clinical trials that verify its efficacy are lacking. This study proposes to verify the effects of Lu's scalp acupuncture on ischemic stroke by comparing differential improvement of motor function between conventional rehabilitation alone and conventional rehabilitation with Lu's scalp acupuncture.
The purpose of the study is to evaluate the safety and performance of the CADence device by comparing it to the results obtained from standard coronary angiography. The CADence device collects acoustic (sound) data from locations on the chest for the purpose of identifying coronary artery turbulence, which may be indicative of coronary artery disease.
Patients presenting with acute cerebral ischemic events are randomly assigned into aspirin (n=40) or cilostazol (n=40) group in a double-blinded manner. FMD is measured as a primary outcome at baseline (T0) and 90 days (T1). Serious and non-serious adverse events were described.
