NCT ID: NCT05197387 Recruiting - Clinical trials for Cholestasis of Pregnancy

Association of Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy and Chronic Placental Inflammation

INTREPIDE
Start date: June 21, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This observational prospective study will help to determine if an immune process similar to allograft rejection is responsible for the occurrence of an intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP). If so, it would suggest the potential benefit of immunomodulatory therapeutics.

NCT ID: NCT05196919 Completed - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Safety and Efficacy of XT-150 for Facet Joint Osteoarthritis Pain

Start date: February 24, 2022
Phase: Phase 2
Study type: Interventional

This is a Phase 2a safety and efficacy study of XT-150 in adult participants experiencing back pain due to inflammation of the facet joint, also known as facet joint osteoarthritis (FJOA), and who are eligible for intra articular glucocorticoid injection, or radiofrequency ablation of medial branches of the primary dorsal ramus of the exiting nerve root, which innervates the adjacent facet joints. Study drug will be administered at Day 0 and Day 90 by bilateral intra-articular (IA) injection into the facet capsule, at the affected spinal level (e.g. Lumbar [L]3-4, L4-5, or L5-Sacrum [S]1) as determined by imaging (e.g., Magnetic resonance imaging [MRI], Computed tomography [CT]), X-ray, etc.) and physical exam. Up to 72 participants will be randomized to placebo or one of two dose treatment groups (24 participants per treatment group). 1. 0.15 mg XT-150 (1.0 milliliter [mL] total delivered by two 0.5 mL injections) 2. 0.45 mg XT-150 (1.0 mL total delivered by two 0.5 mL injections) 3. Placebo (Sterile saline) (1.0 mL total delivered by two 0.5 mL injections)

NCT ID: NCT05195164 Recruiting - Blood Pressure Clinical Trials

The Effects of Orchiectomy and Age on Vascular and Metabolic Health in Older Versus Younger Transgender Women

Start date: March 22, 2021
Phase:
Study type: Observational

This study plans to learn more about differences in heart disease risk after gender-affirming orchiectomy (i.e., testes removal) in older transgender (trans) women compared to younger trans women.

NCT ID: NCT05191706 Recruiting - Cataract Clinical Trials

Evaluate the Safety of DEXYCU for the Treatment of Inflammation Following Ocular Surgery for Childhood Cataract

Start date: January 4, 2022
Phase: Phase 4
Study type: Interventional

A Phase 3/4, Prospective, Randomized, Active Treatment-Controlled, Parallel-Design, Multicenter Study to Evaluate the Safety of DEXYCUfor the Treatment of Inflammation Following Ocular Surgery for Childhood Cataract

NCT ID: NCT05190978 Recruiting - Breast Cancer Clinical Trials

Randomized Feasibility Trial for Mesh in Pre-Pectoral Reconstruction

Start date: October 20, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Surgical mesh products, particularly acellular dermal matrices (ADM), are now used by the majority of plastic surgeons to assist with the nearly 100,000 prosthetic breast reconstruction procedures in the United States, despite never being approved by Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this indication. As surgeons transition to placing breast implants above the chest muscle (pre-pectoral), there has been an increasing reliance on these often expensive mesh products without robust evidence to understand their risks and benefits. Our pilot study is a randomized multi-center trial to evaluate surgical mesh assistance in pre-pectoral tissue expander to breast implant reconstruction to address vital questions for women's public health.

NCT ID: NCT05190432 Active, not recruiting - Influenza Clinical Trials

Taxifolin/Ergothioneine and Immune Biomarkers in Healthy Volunteers (TaxEr)

TaxEr
Start date: November 10, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The complexities of the immune system make measuring the impact of dietary interventions upon its function challenging. The immune system is highly responsive to environmental influences, including the diet. An individual's diet provides the energy required to mount a strong and protective immune response, the building blocks required for synthesis of immune mediators such as antibodies and cytokines, and can also indirectly affect immune function via changes in the gut microbiome. Immune function varies across the lifecourse, with a well understood decline in immune function with age, resulting in impaired vaccination responses and an increased risk of infections and of severe complications and mortality arising from common communicable diseases such as influenza. This impaired immunity with ageing is known as immunosenescence and this affects both innate and acquired arms of the immune system.

NCT ID: NCT05184855 Completed - Muscular Injury Clinical Trials

Blueberries and Exercise Inflammation

Start date: December 1, 2021
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

The purpose of this study is to determine if 2-weeks supplementation with blueberries (1 cup/day) compared to placebo can mitigate muscle soreness and damage, and improve inflammation resolution and metabolic recovery during a 5-day period after engaging in an acute, 90-minute bout of eccentric exercise. The primary outcome will be plasma oxylipin levels, extending previously collected data showing that blueberry ingestion decreases post-exercise oxylipins generated from cytochrome P450 enzymes.

NCT ID: NCT05183737 Active, not recruiting - Inflammation Clinical Trials

Effects of Microencapsulated Propolis and Turmeric in Patients With Chronic Kidney Disease

Start date: March 7, 2022
Phase: N/A
Study type: Interventional

Oxidative stress and inflammation are correlated with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), in a way that they bring several harms to patients, including an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality. Adjuvant therapeutic options such as bioactive compounds present in some foods seem to mitigate inflammation. Turmeric and propolis are foods that have compounds with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity, as they promote the activation of nuclear erythroid transcription factor 2 (Nrf2 - responsible for the synthesis of antioxidant enzymes) and inhibit the activity of nuclear factor Kappa B (NF-κB - which increases the synthesis of inflammatory cytokines). This work aims to evaluate the effects of supplementation of associated propolis and turmeric microcapsules on inflammatory markers in patients with CKD undergoing hemodialysis (HD).

NCT ID: NCT05183373 Recruiting - Coronary Disease Clinical Trials

Inflammation and Clotting Abnormalities in Aneurysmal Coronary Artery Disease

Start date: January 10, 2022
Phase:
Study type: Observational

The main objective of the CARE-ANEURYSM project is to evaluate inflammation and clotting abnormalities in patients with aneurysmal coronary artery disease in relation to patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm or coronary artery disease (acting as controls).
